Abstract

Milk fermentation is one of a technique in milk preservation. The mechanism is to fermentate lactose becoming lactic acid by lactic acid bacteria. The production and quality fermentation of milk is affected by starter culture that usually propagated in milk. This condition can make high contamination while handling. To improve quality of the starter culture granule is by adding encapsulated probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum bacteria as probiotic. The objective of this research is to study the characteristic microbiology of encapsulated probiotic (base on viability). The result showed that the population of encapsulated probiotic can be maintain in 107 CFU/g. It can be concluded that L. acidophilus and B. longum can be categorize as a probiotic bacteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the development of business as well as to analyze the aspects of production and determine the feasibility of breeding quail in Livestock Masagena from 2006 to 2010. The study was conducted from May to June 2011. The data consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data were hatchability, mortality, hen day egg production, meat production, by product, the characteristic of the respondents, marketing, technical maintenance, financial analysis, fixed costs and variable costs. Secondary data was the data from the Village Office and Head Office. Case study research method was determined by purposive sampling. Data collected by observation and interviews directly with respondents using questionnaires. Data of quail production were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, while for financial feasibility quantitatively was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average production Ranch quail egg hatchability Masagena coverr were 78.59%, 3.09% mortality quail, hen day egg production and meat production 62.24%, 152.51 head/day. Financial feasibility analysis results showed a positive NPV, BCR was more than one, and the IRR was higher than the interest rate, indicated that the Ranch Masagena financially viable to run.

Abstract

The concentration of high fat content in buffalo embryo culture media is very influential on the increase in oxidative stress that occurs in conditions of in vitro. The occurrence of increased oxidative stress in the process of embryo culture in vitro, would result in lower percentage of embryo culture until the morula stage (32) cells. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of fertilized oocytes supplemented with glutathione. To know the development of the embryo until the morula stage (32) cells were cultured in the culture medium supplemented with glutathione (GSH). To determine the viability of morula stage embryo or 32 cells. The materials used in this study is ovarian buffaloes and methods used in this study is an experimental method in the laboratory. Based on these results it can be concluded that the addition of glutathione 1.5 mM in media oocyte maturation buffalo in vitro provide a significant influence on the percentage of maturation ie          (P <0:01) or 62.5% and in line with the high percentage of oocytes matured in treatment increase glutathione 1.5 mM, then the percentage of oocytes were successfully fertilized also higher, namely 88.98%. Furthermore, the addition of 3 mM glutathione in embryo culture media in vitro buffalo give a significant influence on the percentage of embryo development to the morula stage or cell 32, namely (P <0.01) in, or 40.73%.

Abstract

The aims of this research was to study the effect of using fermented onggok in ransum to native chicken performance. The design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatment i.e : R1 (10%), R2 (15%), R3 (20%), R4 (25%) and R5 (30%) with 4 replications. The ransum was composed with  protein (18%) and  calorie (2900 kcal/kg). Result of research shows that using fermented onggok had highly significant effect (P< 0.05) towards the feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion  of buras. It was concluded that using fermented onggok could increase highly body weight at level 15%.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluation the effect of Indigofera zollingeriana flour utilization inpoultry pellet ration on the content of the fiber fraction ,namely : Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF), Acid Detergent Lignin (ADL), hemicelluloses and cellulose. The experimental design used Completely Randomized Design(CRD),which consists of 4 treatments and 5 replicates. The treatments were the level of Indigofera zollingeriana flour utilization that were T0 = 0% Indigofera zollingeriana  (control),T1  =  5%  Indigofera  zollingeriana,  T2  =10%  Indigofera  zollingeriana,  T3  =  15%  Indigofera zollingeriana.  The  results showed that the Indigofera zollingeriana utilization had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the content of NDF, hemicellulose, cellulose but had  significantly effect (P<0.05) to the content of ADF and highly significant effect (P<0.01) on the content of ADL. It was concluded that the use of 15% Indigofera zollingerian alowered the content ADF and ADL, unable to reduce the content fNDF and unable to increase the content of hemicellulose and cellulose.The use of 15% Indigofera zollingeriana is t h e b e s t  30.39% NDF; 9.42% ADF; 2.25% ADL; 20.98% hemicellulose and 4.53% cellulose.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to determine: a) the acceleration of innovation adoption cocoa waste as animal feed of Ettawa Cross Breed in the district of Tanjung Baru Tanah Datar, b) problems encountered in the implementation of the waste cocoa breeders as animal feed of Ettawa Cross Breed in the district of Tanjung Baru Tanah Datar. This research used survey, where respondents in the sample in this research is the goat breeders in the district of Tanjung Baru as many as 30 people. The data collected are primary data with the aid of questionnaires and secondary data with study of literature and related agencies. The results of this research indicate that the size of the adoption of the innovation seen on the velocity or the time interval between the receipt of the information and the application is done in the district of Tanjung Baru classified as fast (less than 1 week) 66.67%, broad application of innovation or the proportion of the number of animals that have been given the new innovations in the district of Tanjung Baru is applied by 76.67%, and intensification quality by comparing with recommended application submitted by extension in the district of Tanjung Baru is good at 73.33%.

Abstract

Identifikasi grade pada bibit sapi berguna untuk mengelompokkan ternak berdasarkan performans tertentu untuk seleksi ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui grade bibit sapi Aceh betina yang dipelihara di pusat pembibitan sapi Aceh di BPTU-HPT Sapi Aceh Indrapuri berdasarkan standar bibit sapi Aceh betina (SNI 7651.3.2013). Data rekording ternak dari tahun 2010 - 2013 terdiri dari tinggi gumba (TG), panjang badan (PB), lingkar dada (LD) dan berat badan (BB) dari 54 ekor sapi digunakan untuk analisis data dengan program SPSS 16.0. Rata-rata performans pada sapi Aceh betina umur 497,91+29,43 hari sebesar 87,44+4,87 cm (TG); 80,80+6,19 cm (PB); 101,29+10,40 cm (LD) dan 86,20+18,77 kg (BB). Sebanyak 26 ekor sapi (48,14%) telah memenuhi syarat SNI dan terdiri dari grade I (6 ekor/23,07%), grade II (8 ekor/30,77%) dan grade  III (12 ekor/46,15%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata berat badan pada semua bibit sapi yang teregister (sesuai SNI) lebih tinggi (97,67+16,67 kg) dibandingkan dengan sapi yang tidak teregister (75,55+13,80 kg).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) combined hormone GnRH with different doses of the length of estrous and quantity of the corpus luteum. The material in this study using 12 head Pesisir Cattle age of 3-4 years with a body weight 140,6,87±5.51 kg. The treatment in this study consisted of 3 treatment. A treatment that injection of the hormone GnRH dose of 50 μg PGF2α 48 hours after injection of 5 ml, treatment B injection of the hormone GnRH dose of 100 μg 48 hours after PGF2α injection of 5 ml, treatment C injection of the hormone GnRH dose of 200 μg 48 hours after injection of PGF2α 5 ml. The resulting data were analyzed using Completely Randomized Design with 4 replications. The results showed that the average length of estrous treatment A (18.31±1.22 hours), B (18.50±0.34 hours) and C (17.81±1.28 hours) showed nodiffer significantly (P>0,05) between treatments. The average quantity of the corpus luteum treatment A is with 3.75±1.50; B 5.00±1.55 and C 4.50±0.58 fewer fruits not significantly different (P>0.05) by treatment. From the study it can be concluded that the hormone GnRH 50 μg - 200 μg after injection of PGF2α positive influence on the length of estrous, and the number of corpus luteum.

Abstract

Banana peel can be used as an alternative feed based on the potential availability and nutritional. The experiments were conducted to improve the nutrient quality of Banana Peel and Tofu Waste mixture (BPTW) by using Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa. This substrate consists of banana peel 70% and tofu waste 30%. The experiment was performed in 3 treatment completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 replicates. The treatments were : A= fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (1:1), B = fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (2:1), and C = fermentation BPTW by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (1:2). Measured variables were Crude Fiber (CF), Crude Protein (CP), Nitrogen Retention and CF digestion. The result of the research showed that the treatment affected significantly (p<0.01) reduced CF and increased CP, nitrogen retention and CF digestion. In conclusion, fermentation by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Neurospora crassa (2:1) was the best treatment for improving banana peel and tofu waste nutrient quality
