Abstract

Ayam kampung adalah salah satu ternak yang dipelihara oleh masyarakat desa secara umum karena sistem pemeliharaan tidak terlalu memerlukan input yang besar seperti ayam ras, memiliki kemampuan adaptasi lingkungan yang baik sehingga banyak dipelihara masyarakat pedesaan di Indonesia. Bahkan dibeberapa tempat di pedesaan sistem pemeliharaanya zero input. Informasi tentang tingkah laku ayam KUB yang dipelihara secara intensif dalam kandang maupun secara bebas masih sangat minim, sehingga diperlukan sebuah kajian tentang tingkah laku ayam KUB agar dapat berproduksi maksimal. Tingkah laku dapat merepresentasikan kondisi fisiologis, perasaan serta respon unggas terhadap perubahan kondisi lingkungan sekitarnya. Kajian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu lokasi diseminasi pengembangan Ayam KUB di Kabupaten Sigi, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Kajian menggunakan metode one zero sampling, pengamatan dilakukan pagi hari (07.00-08.00 WITA) dan sore (16.00-17.00 WITA) selama 7 hari. Populasi ayam KUB yang digunakan dalam kajian ini sebanyak 5 ekor Jantan dan 25 ekor Betina berumur 18 minggu. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan aktivitas tertinggi pada pagi hari berturut-turut adalah; aktivitas makan (10%), minum (9,9%), bertengger (9,2%), groming (9,2%) lokomosi (7,8%), agonistik (1,7%), kawin (1,4%), eliminasi (1,1) dan istirahat (1,1%), sedangkan aktivitas tertinggi pada sore hari adalah makan (11,8%), minum (9,9%), grooming (8,6%), lokomosi (7,8%), bertengger (7,0%), agonistik (1,3%), eliminasi (0,8%), istirahat (0,8%) dan kawin (0,6%). Disimpulkan bahwa tingkah laku ayam KUB umur 18 minggu secara keseluruhan masih dalam batas normal demi memenuhi tingkat kesejahterannya untuk persiapan berproduksi secara maksimal.Kata kunci : Tingkah Laku, Ayam KUB,  one zero sampling.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine of the wafer of performance of rabbits in the growth period given wafer sweet potato leaves waste with various levels of molasses.  In The result showed that the treatment in this experiment had no significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption, average daily gain, feed conversion. The conclusion of this experiment is that giving molasses to complete ration wafers up to the level of 15 % in the rabbit unable to increase feed consumption (g/head/day), body weight (g/head/day) and  feed conversion

Abstract

This research was conducted in May to June, 2016 in Post-Harvest Technology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science State Islamic University of Syarif Kasim Sultan Riau, and Laboratory of Food and Beverage Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Services, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. This study of aims to determine the physical quality the ice cream with the addition of grass jelly leaves gel as a stabilizer in ice cream. The experimental design used in this study was completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications. Parameters obsered were on study treatment is P0 (without grass jelly leaves gel), P1 (0,25% of grass jelly leaves gel), P2 (0,50% of grass jelly leaves gel), P3 (0,75% of grass jelly leaves gel) and P4 (1,00% of grass jelly leaves gel). The parameters observed were melting time, pH and glucose content. The results showed that the addition of grass jelly leaves gel did not significantly affect (P>0.05) melting rate of ice cream, but significantly decreased the pH value of ice cream (P<0.01) and increased glucose concentration of goat milk ice cream (P<0.01). The conclusions of this research that goat milk ice cream stabilized using grass jelly leaves gel at the level of 1,00% produce yield glucose content was 38,91%, the melting rate for 13,45 minutes and 6,10 of pH value

Abstract

Tannin is one of plant secondary metabolites that could protect proteins from various microbes, both in feed material and in rumen. Tannin can be used as an additive in the silage production process, especially high-protein feed material. The study aimed to evaluate the physical quality of soy sauce by-product silage treated with Acacia mangium Wild. tannin (AT; condensed tannin). This study used the fresh soy sauce by-product, tannin of acacia and chestnut (CT; hydrolysable tannin), BAL and propionate acid (PA). Soy sauce by-product was fermented in silo with a capacity of 1.3 Kg. This experiment was arranged in a complete randomized design with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were (R1) fermented soy sauce by-product, (R2) R1 + BAL, (R3) R1 + 2% AT, (R4) R1 + 2% CT, (R5) R1 + 0.5% PA and (R6) R1 + combination of 1% AT, 1% CT and 0.5% PA. The observed variables were the loss of dry matter (%), temperature (⁰C), smell, color and emerged fungus on silage. Analysis of variance was performed by SPSS version 23. For any significant difference between treatments was evaluated by DMRT at level of confident 5%. The result showed that AT suppressed the loss of dry matter up to 0.91%, and produced no smell with black color such as soybean color. The silage temperature was relatively similar for about 28.9-29.4 ⁰C, no emerged fungus, and did not able to maintain the normal silage temperature. Nevertheless, the use of acacia tannin could produce a good quality soy sauce by-product silage.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh level penggunaan tepung roti afkir (TRA) dan tepung kulit manggis (TKM) sebagai substitusi jagung terhadap performan pertumbuhan dan income over feed cost (IOFC) itik Ciahteup. Sebanyak 84 ekor itik Cihateup dibagi secara acak ke dalam 7 kelompok perlakuan pakan yaitu: pakan tanpa perlakuan TRA dan TKM (R0), Pakan dengan penambahan TRA 10% pengganti jagung + 1% TKM (R1A), pakan dengan penambahan TRA 10% pengganti jagung + 2% TKM (R1B), pakan dengan penambahan TRA 20% pengganti jagung + 1% TKM (R2A), pakan dengan penambahan TRA 20% pengganti jagung + 2% TKM (R2B), pakan dengan penambahan TRA 30% pengganti jagung + 1% TKM (R3A) dan pakan dengan penambahan TRA 30% pengganti jagung + 2% TKM (R3B). Variabel yang diamati yaitu bobot badan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan, konsumsi pakan, konversi pakan dan IOFC. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap, apabila berbeda nyata diuji lanjut dengan metode Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan pakan berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap bobot badan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan dan IOFC. Perlakuan R2B yang mengandung 20% TRA dan 1% TKM memiliki performan pertumbuhan yang mendekati perlakuan kontrol. Adapun perlakuan R3A yang mengandung 30% TRA menghasilkan nilai IOFC yang lebih rendah dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. Dengan demikian, pemberian 20% TRA dan 2.0% TKM direkomendasikan untuk memperbaiki performan pertumbuhan dan pemberian 30% TRA dapat diaplikasikan untuk menurunkan nilai IOFC.

Abstract

The fertility of a rooster is not only influenced by motility, viability and DNA integrity of the spermatozoa but also by the morphological integrity of the spermatozoa. The objective of the study was to determine the morphological and morphometric description of spermatozoa in Nunukan rooster, one of Indonesian germplasm. Rooster’s semen was collected with dorso-abdominal massage method. The semen was stained with a combination of Eosin and Nigrosin prior to the observation of the morphologic and morphometric parameters. A microscope with 100 times magnification, as many as 100 spermatozoa, was used to evaluate the morphologic aspects. Hereafter, the morphometric aspects were analyzed using the Raster Image program to identify the head dimension, the head length and width, the mid-piece length, the tail length, and the ratio of the head and tail. The spermatozoa of Nunukan rooster showed the average total length of 86.724±12.496 μm. Furthermore, the head length, the mid-piece length and the tail length are 12.766±2.307 μm, 4.220±1.127 μm, and 75.738 ± 9.061 μm, respectively, while the head width is 1.391±0.244 μm. On the other hand, the ratio of head length and the tail lenght is 1: 5.9. The morphologic normal percentage is 80.50±9.40%. In conclusion, the characteristics of spermatozoa of Nunukan rooster due to the aspects of morphologic, morphometric and morphologic normal percentage are within the range of other types of rooster in many previous studies.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk  mengetahui pH, populasi serta  zona bening BAL terhadap E. coli   yang diisolasi dari silase kulit buah dan jerami jagung dengan penambahan tepung jagung yang berbeda. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial dengan 3x3 perlakuan 3 ulangan untuk setiap perlakuan.: A1  100% Kulit Buah Jagung + 0% Jerami Jagung, A2  50% Kulit Buah Jagung + 50% Jerami Jagung A3  0% Kulit Buah Jagung + 100% Jerami Jagung. Faktor B: Penambahan Tepung Jagung B1  0% Tanpa Tepung Jagung B2  5% Tepung Jagung B3  10% Tepung Jagung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat interaksi antara faktor jenis bahan yang berbeda dengan penambahan tepung jagung terhadap pH, jumlah populasi bakteri asam laktat, dan zona bening BAL terhadap E. Coli.  Kesimpulan perlakuan silase dengan penambahan jerami jagung 100% dapat dijadikan pakan ternak ruminansia.

Abstract

Indonesia kini tengah menempati  peringkat 10 besar negara produsen daging dan telur unggas di dunia. Ayam ras pedaging tipe fast-growing Broiler dan ayam ras petelur tipe Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic merupakan dua galur ayam yang mendominasi sektor peternakan unggas di Indonesia. Potensi plasma nutfah ayam lokal asli Indonesia sebanyak 31 galur ayam belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dalam usaha mewujudkan kemandirian peternakan unggas Indonesia. Hal ini berujung kepada ketergantungan Indonesia terhadap impor bibit ayam (grandparent stock, GPS) dalam kegiatan penyediaan bibit ayam. Gama Ayam Research Team telah memberdayakan potensi plasma nutfah ayam lokal asli Indonesia, salah satunya Pelung melalui program persilangan selektif. Hasilnya beberapa galur ayam potensial untuk dikembangkan diantaranya Kambro dan Kamper. Dalam penelitian ini program persilangan selektif galur ayam Kamper ditingkatkan melalui persilangan balik (backcross) antara ayam pejantan F1 Kamper (hibrida Pelung dan Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic) dengan ayam betina F1 Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic. Generasi BC1 (backcross I) diekspektasikan untuk mewarisi performa pertumbuhan ayam Pelung, produktivitas telur ayam Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic dan karakter fenotipe (postur tubuh dan warna bulu) ayam Kamper. Karakter fenotipe yang diamati dalam generasi BC1 Kamper digolongkan ke dalam enam kelas fenotipe. Bobot tubuh BC1 Kamper (n = 50) mencapai 538.84 g lebih tinggi dibandingkan F1 Kamper and Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic dalam sistem semi-intensive dengan diet pakan standar ad libitum dalam periode delapan minggu. Produktivitas telur BC1 Kamper mencapai 39.11 telur (periode 16-minggu) dan hen day production (HDP) sekitar 0.6-0.67. Telur BC1 Kamper diklasifikasikan sebagai round egg, AB dan spherical dengan nilai heritabilitas telur sekitar 0.2-0.244. Estimasi heritabilitas (h2 = low-moderate) menunjukkan kesamaan dengan F1 Kamper mengindikasikan proporsi distribusi alel antara generasi tetua dengan generasi indukan Layer Lohmann Brown-Classic dan F1 Kamper.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluation the affect of corn cob fermented with Phanerochaete chrysosporium by adding the different sources of carbohydrates on the digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein by in-vitro methods. The treatments were : P0 = fermented corn cobs without carbohydrate, P1 = fermented corn cobs + 10% rice bran; P2 = fermented corn cobs + 10% tapioca flour; P3 = corn cob fermented + 10% molasses, and using a compleately randomize design for varian analize. The resulted of this study shown a very significant affected (P <0.01) on the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter but no affected (P> 0.05) on crude protein digestibility. The best results digestibility of dry matter (66.98%) on the P3 treatment adding molasses, and the highest digestibility of organic matter (67.49%) on the P3 treatment too, but the highest digestibility of crude protein (51.37%) in P1 treatment (adding by rice bran).

Abstract

Water lettuce meal (Pistia stratiotes) is the weed that has potential as animal feed due to it contain high crude protein and energy metabolism. The aims of this study wasto determine the weight and length of digestive organs including proventriculus, ventriculus, small intestine in broiler chicken given of water lettuce meal (WLM) in ratios. The research design of this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of T0 (commercial feed without WLM), T1 (ration with 0% WLM), T2 (ration with 5% WLM), T3 (ration with 10% WLM) and T4 (ration with 15% WLM). The experimental animal used were broiler DOC until the age of 35 days old were kept in 20 cages and each cage consisted of 3 broiler chickens. The parameters measured were proventriculusweight, ventriculus weight, small intestine weight and length of the small intestine. The results showed that there was no significant effects among treatments on all parameters. The conclusions of the study that the use of indicate that WLM could be used as feed up to 15% in ration without affecting their the proventriculus weight, ventrikulus weight, small intestine weight and length small intestineinbroiler chickens.
