Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readiness of MSMEs based on existing model artifacts related to implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) to support the concept of smart cities. In this study, the Design Science Methodology understanding model from Hevner is used in analyzing the views of SMEs actors. The results of the questionnaire processing from 147 MSME actors found that the obstacles to IoT implementation are the production process that is still manual, the production machine is still not automatic/manual, difficulties in capital, the communication media used is still email and telephone, and the production work environment is not safe and still integrated with the house. These obstacles can be used as input in implementing the Internet of Things in MSMEs. The recommendations given in the implementation of the Internet of Things for SMEs are to provide capital loans in collaboration with Regional Banks, determine regional superior products to be used as Pilot Projects in the implementation of the Internet of Things, collaborate with local governments for the development of MSMEs in funding and appropriate technology to increase the productivity and quality of SMEs production.

Abstract

The abuse of narcotics has become one of the significant social and health problems in various countries worldwide. Conventional methods relying on manual analysis or traditional approaches may not be effective enough in addressing this challenge. Therefore, a more sophisticated and efficient approach is needed to tackle this issue. Data mining uses techniques from statistics, machine learning, and pattern recognition to extract valuable information from large data sets. This research employs data collection methods from the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Maluku Regional Police from 2021 to 2023. This data includes profiles of narcotics users, such as the age of the perpetrators, gender, last education level, occupation, location of arrest, and type of narcotic. The aim is to identify the patterns of narcotic distribution in the Maluku Province using data mining techniques, namely the Apriori algorithm, Naive Bayes, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machine (SVM). The exclusion of the age variable was a correct decision, as it resulted in an increase in accuracy. This increase is likely due to the high variation in the age variable. The accuracy improvement was more evident in the Random Forest algorithm compared to Naive Bayes and SVM. Random Forest achieved satisfactory results with an accuracy of 0.96. This indicates that Random Forest is a good algorithm for predicting narcotics user data. These results suggest that the pattern of narcotics distribution is closely associated with specific factors, including the male gender, the highest level of education being high school, a self-employed occupation, arrest locations on public roads, and the type of narcotic being Shabu.

Abstract

The effective coordination of directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) is essential for maintaining the stability and dependability of power systems. This work presents a modified grey wolf optimization (MGWO) approach for addressing the DOCR coordination problem. The MGWO algorithm improves the original grey wolf optimization (GWO) by increasing convergence characteristics and balancing the exploration and exploitation stages. This equilibrium is attained by a dimension learning-hunting method and a quadratic reduction in the control parameter during the optimization phase. DOCR coordination is optimized using the MGWO method, using decision factors such as pickup current, time dial setting, and curve type. The goal is to reduce the total working time of primary relays while maintaining selectivity and shortening the discrimination time between primary and backup relays. The suggested MGWO technique is evaluated on the IEEE 8 bus system with two scenarios and compared to other optimization approaches. The results reveal that MGWO outperforms previous algorithms, achieving improvements in the objective function ranging from 5.52% to 58.19%. Additionally, the DOCR settings created by MGWO are evaluated using ETAP software to assure compliance with operational requirements and prevent violations of DOCR coordination. Keywords: Directional Overcurrent Relay Coordination, Grey Wolf Optimization, Multiple Curves, Pickup Current, Time Dial Setting.

Abstract

trackplate’s bushing material made of AISI 4340 steel through heat treatment designed using the Taguchi method. The heat treatment process includes several key parameters, namely austenitizing temperature, austenitizing time, quenching media, and tempering time, which are systematically evaluated to maximize the increase in material hardness. The experimental design employs the Taguchi method with an L9 orthogonal array to determine the optimal combination of parameters from four factors and three levels of variables, including austenitizing temperatures of 870°C, 900°C, and 925°C; austenitizing times of 25, 30, and 35 minutes; quenching media of water, salt water, and oil; and tempering times of 1.5, 2, and 2.5 hours. Hardness testing conducted using the Rockwell HRC scale shows that the optimal combination is achieved at an austenitizing temperature of 925°C, an austenitizing time of 35 minutes, salt water as the quenching media, and a tempering time of 2.5 hours. This combination successfully increases the material hardness to 56.9 HRC, representing an increase of 67.84% from the initial hardness of 33.9 HRC. S/N ratio analysis reveals that quenching media and austenitizing temperature significantly impact the increase in hardness. At the same time, tempering time plays a role in stabilizing the martensitic structure without reducing the achieved hardness. The results of this study demonstrate that the Taguchi method effectively determines the optimal heat treatment parameters for bushing materials, thus producing material hardness that meets the required technical specifications. Keywords: AISI 4340 Steel, bushing, hardness improvement, heat treatment, Taguchi method, S/N ratio analysis.

Abstract

This study explores the enhancement of oil and gas products through laboratory-scale manual formulations to address quality, efficiency, and environmental sustainability challenges. It focuses on biodiesel blends (B10, B30, and B50) and used lubricants treated with citric acid to reduce heavy metal content. The research identifies key functional components in biodiesel that improve combustion efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Simultaneously, the addition of citric acid in used lubricants aims to reduce metal concentrations, enhancing the potential for recycling and reuse. The results indicate that increasing biodiesel content significantly improves environmental performance and reduces reliance on fossil fuels, though water and sulfur content require strict monitoring to maintain product stability. In used lubricants, the application of citric acid demonstrates varied effectiveness, reducing specific metals like magnesium but increasing others such as calcium and zinc, posing challenges for consistent metal reduction. This study concludes that combining manual formulations and chemical treatments provides valuable insights into optimizing oil and gas products. It emphasizes the need for careful control of component levels to meet quality standards and environmental regulations. The findings suggest that refining the application of citric acid could further enhance its effectiveness in minimizing harmful metal concentrations, supporting sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the oil and gas sector.
