Abstract

Providing early predictions of student performance assessments is an essential task in the educational system. Previous studies on predicting student performance assessments have traditionally relied on academic scores and test indicators. The utilization of assignments, grades, and exams has been an extensive and successful method for evaluating student performance. However, with the increasing popularity of distance learning, a new perspective has emerged. The Online Learning Management System (OLMS) provides a wide array of features that can be leveraged in various ways to predict student performance. This study aims to propose an alternative approach to predicting student performance assessments by utilizing student engagement in an online learning management system. The study strives to investigate and analyze prospective features based on student activity. Bagging ensemble learning methods are proposed to predict student performance assessments through oversampling datasets. The effectiveness of these prediction models is then compared with various machine-learning models, with the results indicating that the proposed model outperforms others at all comparison levels. Furthermore, the proposed model demonstrates the ability to discriminate and predict student performance assessments based on OLMS-related features. Keywords: Student Performance Assessment, Ensemble Learning, Machine Learning, Student Performance Prediction

Abstract

This study implements the Campbell, Dudek, and Smith (CDS) scheduling method with overlapping to enhance production efficiency, with the primary objective of minimising makespan through strategic job overlapping. The overlapping technique divides the selected job into two batches, where the first batch, upon completing Machine 1, immediately proceeds to Machine 2, while the second batch undergoes Machine 1. Once the second batch completes Machine 1, it is transferred to Machine 2. Machine setup is only performed upon job arrival. The results indicate a lead time saving of 83 minutes, reflecting a significant reduction in total processing time. These data suggest the efficiency of the CDS method’s overlapping approach in optimising scheduling performance and resource utilisation.   Keywords: Scheduling, CDS, multi-machine flow shop, Overlapping

Abstract

The prospect of success of a manufacturing project is determined by the results of feasibility tests such as investment and operations. In its implementation, the feasibility test is often constrained by several things such as data entry errors, calculation errors, and a long calculation time. The ideal solution that can be used to solve these three obstacles is to design an offline and stand-alone desktop-based feasibility calculation application. This research uses the SDLC Waterfall method and User Acceptance Test (UAT) based on questionnaires and scenario tests. In the design and coding completion phase, the SDLC waterfall approach is combined with generative AI to speed up the application design time. As a result, a calculation application named Manufurrt has been created with an interactive executable file format and is able to provide the same calculation results between the expected spreadsheet and the real calculation results from the application.

Abstract

MSMEs in the manufacturing sector often face challenges in the efficiency of the production process, especially when implementing a make-to-order system that leads to high product variety and long lead times. This research aims to design improvements in the production process at PT. X, a furniture MSME in Bandung, by applying the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) methods. VSM is used to map initial conditions and identify non-value-added activities (waste), while BPR is used to formulate radical remedial solutions. The results of the analysis showed several main problems, namely delays in the supply of raw materials, the absence of standardization of sofa frames and covers, and production processes that ran in parallel. The proposed solutions include the implementation of make-to-stock and make-to-order hybrid systems, the implementation of safety stock of frame materials, and the standardization of dimensions and processes. These changes result in more efficient production processes, shorten order fulfillment times, and improve product quality consistency. This research shows that the integration of VSM and BPR can be a strategic approach in improving the manufacturing performance of MSMEs.
