Abstract

This study aims to identify the community’s learning needs in Paropo I Village, Silahisabungan District, related to tilapia fish farming. The research employs a descriptive quantitative method, which describes the condition of subjects or objects based on observable facts without seeking correlations, testing hypotheses, or making predictions. The research sample consisted of 28 fish cage owners in Paropo I Village. Data collection was conducted through observation and the distribution of questionnaires developed to address the research problem. Data analysis techniques included content validation by three experts, validity testing using Aiken’s V, and reliability testing using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). The validity test resulted in a score of 0.89, which is categorized as valid. The reliability test yielded a value of 0.088, which falls into the “good” or reliable category, indicating that the questionnaire is suitable for use. The findings suggest that the community’s learning needs are primarily technical. The highest identified need is the skill to utilize technology to simplify the tilapia harvesting process, cited by 78.6% of respondents. This suggests that technical training especially related to harvesting technology is the primary learning need of the Paropo I Village community in tilapia farming. Abstract

The phenomenon of “sing beling sing nganten” is literally translated as “no pregnancy, no marriage”, and reflects the normalization of premarital pregnancy as a social strategy to legitimize relationships and secure familial approval. Rooted in value in Bali, this practice disproportionately impacts women, compromising their reproductive autonomy, psychological well-being, and social status. Although early initiatives such as education and empowerment programs have emerged, evidence of effective interventions specifically addressing this issue remains limited. This study conducted a systematic literature review to explore community-based interventions (CBI) targeting related issues, including gender inequality, reproductive rights, fertility pressure, domestic violence, and early marriage. Of 131 records screened across databases and journals, 22 articles were included. The studies, spanning Africa, Asia, and Latin America, employed randomized controlled trials, quasi-experiments, qualitative designs, and mixed methods, involving participants ranging from adolescents to socioeconomically vulnerable women and men. Research findings highlight that CBI delivered through participatory group sessions, school programs, home visits, and community dialogues can effectively reshape gender norms, strengthen reproductive health knowledge, increase men’s engagement, and reduce violence. Key success factors include a multilevel approach involving families, schools, community leaders, health care providers, and policy structures. The review concludes that adapting evidence-based CBI to the Balinese cultural context offers a promising pathway to addressing sing beling sing nganten. The review emphasizes the need for context-sensitive, participatory, and gender-transformative strategies to ensure sustainable change in social norms and to protect women’s rights. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Desa Prima Program as a form of productive economic empowerment for women in Wedomartani Village, Sleman Regency, using the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research was conducted over three months, from October 2024 to January 2025. It was aligned with the program’s schedule to ensure the collected data would be both representative and current. The research subjects included 28 women who were active participants in the Desa Prima Program and program administrators who served as key informants. This study employed a formative evaluation design using a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative methods (in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation) with quantitative methods (questionnaires). The research instruments were developed based on the indicators of the CIPP model and were validated through expert judgement and source triangulation. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on a Likert scale to determine the mean scores and percentages for each evaluation aspect. The results show that, in terms of context, the program was deemed highly relevant to women’s economic needs (84.8%), with the majority of participants having no prior income (80.4%). Regarding input, the training facilities were considered adequate (81.3%), and the participant selection process was viewed as fair (82.1%), although the distribution of tools and availability of mentoring remained limited. In the process aspect, the training was participatory, with facilitator attendance rated relatively high (79.5%) and mentoring experienced by 77.7% of participants; however, a formal evaluation system was lacking. In terms of product, 60.7% of participants reported an increase in income, 57.1% continued to run their businesses, and all participants (100%) expressed a desire for the program to continue. The program has shown early positive impacts in promoting women’s economic independence, although further institutional strengthening, legal business access, and cross-sectoral sustainability strategies are still needed. Abstract

This study aims to examine the elements of work culture inheritance, inheritance processes, and informal learning strategies in the carpentry community in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. The research approach used is a case study with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The results of the study show that elements of work culture are inherited through informal learning based on direct practice, the use of Sundanese as the main medium, the maintenance of kinship values, and the combination of manual and machine technology in production activities. The majority of the community still depends on woodcraft for their livelihood, upholds Islamic cultural identity, and preserves the heritage of kelom geulis woodcraft. The process of cultural inheritance takes place through transformative, internalization, and transinternalization phases, and is strengthened by socialization mechanisms (through imitation) and enculturation (through life experiences, social interactions, and market dynamics). Informal learning strategies are carried out independently, utilizing learning resources from experienced people close to the individual, and are oriented towards market needs. The implications of this research emphasize the role of traditional communities as effective informal educational institutions in maintaining the sustainability of work skills and cultural values. Scientifically, these findings enrich the literature on non-formal education and cultural sociology, while providing a conceptual contribution to the understanding of the inheritance of traditional work skills in the context of modernization and socio-economic change in Indonesia. Abstract

The development of beekeeping edutourism in Pasawahan Village represents an innovative strategy to support rural economic growth while enhancing public awareness of bee ecosystems. This study analyzes the collaborative strategies underpinning this initiative using the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) approach. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the development of beekeeping edutourism is driven by multi-stakeholder collaboration involving the village government, BUMDes, Petani Muda Perlebah Foundation, PT PLN (Persero) through its CSR program, and active community participation. This collaboration has been implemented through infrastructure development, technical capacity-building for local residents, and the adoption of digital marketing strategies to enhance tourist attraction and accessibility. Based on the TALC model, Pasawahan’s beekeeping edutourism is currently transitioning from the development stage toward consolidation. This phase is characterized by increasing visitor numbers and the diversification of tourism products and educational services. However, several challenges persist, including a shortage of skilled beekeeping experts, the absence of clear village-level tourism regulations, and suboptimal promotion and ticketing systems. To address these constraints, the study recommends strengthening community-based technical training, formulating village regulations to support sustainable tourism management, and enhancing integrated digital marketing and visitor management systems. With targeted and sustained collaboration, beekeeping edutourism has strong potential to emerge as a leading model of sustainable educational tourism. This study contributes novel insights by examining collaborative innovation in transforming a former sand-mining area into a sustainable edutourism destination in a rural Indonesian context, offering a practical framework for similar initiatives in developing countries. Abstract

Abstract: Women's empowerment is a crucial issue in achieving gender equality as outlined in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One relevant strategy is life skills based non-formal education, which provides opportunities for women to improve their skills, independence, and self-confidence. This study aims to describe the implementation of the life skills program, analyze its impact, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors at the Anggrek Bulan Community Learning Center in Banyuwangi. The study employed a case study approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis applied the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the life skills program was designed in a participatory manner according to the needs of the learners, involving women from planning to evaluation. The impacts include improved technical skills (sewing, batik, digital marketing) and soft skills (public speaking, leadership), enabling women to become more independent and able to develop businesses. In conclusion, life skills education at the Anggrek Bulan Community Learning Center effectively strengthens women's capacity and role, while also serving as a model for contextual and sustainable empowerment. Abstract

Whereas indigenous rituals are commonly considered instruments of cultural preservation, the study asserts that they are a complex, highly effective, andragogical system that helps adults learn to transform. With the Slametan culture of the Osing Kemiren community in Indonesia as one of its focal points, this study challenges the dominance of Western, individualist formulations of education by developing the theme of communal practices that promote adult development. A qualitative ethnographic design was employed to collect data through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with adult participants and community elders (Pinar). The results indicate that Slametan is a Community of Practice (CoP) in which adults advance from peripheral involvement to spiritual leadership. Importantly, the ritual in the role of transformative learning, specifically, the Ruwatan (purification) part in the study, allows adults to overcome the dilemmas of life crises (disorienting dilemmas) by critically examining themselves and engaging in spiritual dialogue. Also, the tradition facilitates ecological andragogy, whereby adults must master local ecological knowledge to make rituals effective. This paper finds that the holistic approach to adult education provided by the Osing model integrates spiritual, social, and ecological aspects that are usually divided in formal Western andragogy.

Abstract

Amid the increasing influence of global economic, technological, and cultural transformations, history education faces challenges in maintaining its relevance and meaningfulness for students. Although previous studies have emphasized the importance of contextual and technology-supported history learning, limited attention has been paid to integrating cloud-based image recognition technology with local public history content, particularly in secondary education in Indonesia. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of public history–based Image Cloud Recognition (ICR) media in improving students’ historical thinking skills. The research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, combined with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design. The participants comprised 2 history teachers and 60 high school students in Semarang City, who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and historical thinking tests and analyzed using an independent-samples t-test. The findings indicate that the use of ICR media significantly improves students’ historical thinking skills compared to conventional learning, as evidenced by t-values of 8.778 and 10.239, which exceed the critical value (1.672) at p < 0.05. These results suggest that ICR media is effective in facilitating contextual, visually rich, and meaningful history learning, thereby enhancing students’ critical engagement with historical events.

Abstract

Abstract: Digital business creativity has become increasingly essential for learners in non-formal equality education (Package C programs) to achieve economic empowerment in the digital era. However, entrepreneurship instruction in equality education settings remains predominantly conventional and rarely incorporates multimodal strategies tailored to diverse learner characteristics. This study examined the effectiveness of a multimodal entrepreneurship module in enhancing digital business creativity among learners in equality education. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed involving 80 learners from equality education programs in Semarang Regency, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling and grouped into an experimental group (n = 40) and a control group (n = 40). The experimental group participated in an eight-week multimodal intervention integrating visual, auditory, digital simulation, and project-based learning activities, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected using the adapted Digital Business Creativity Scale (DBCS), which demonstrated satisfactory reliability (Cronbach’s α = .87). Independent samples t-test and ANCOVA results indicated a significant difference in post-test scores between groups, F(1,77) = 88.42, p < .001, partial η² = .53, with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.21). The intervention significantly improved learners’ digital ideation, innovation, content creation, and digital problem-solving skills. These findings provide empirical evidence that multimodal entrepreneurship pedagogy can serve as an effective instructional strategy for strengthening entrepreneurial empowerment in non-formal equality education contexts. Abstract

Cultural heritage plays a strategic role in shaping local identity and strengthening learners’ character. The Ethno-Project-Based Learning model is a project-based instructional approach that integrates local cultural values as sources of learning, innovation, and skill development. This study aims to examine the implementation of this model within a learning community that collaborates with cultural figures and the local society, focusing on the transmission of Topeng Malangan culture as part of the local wisdom of the Greater Malang region. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach. Participants include cultural practitioners, community members, and learners from various age groups. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings indicate that: (a) Ethno-Project-Based Learning is implemented through culturally grounded projects such as mask-making, traditional dance, and folklore storytelling, enabling contextual and experience-based learning; (b) learner engagement emerges through intergenerational collaboration, where cultural figures, facilitators, and youth interact as co-learners; and (c) the internalization of cultural values, such as responsibility, solidarity, and cultural ethics—is reflected in learners’ participation, attitudes, and creative outputs during the learning process. These findings suggest that the model contributes to the transmission of cultural heritage by fostering active participation, meaningful engagement, and the internalization of value within the learning community. In this context, Topeng Malangan serves not only as a subject of study but also as a medium for character formation through the appreciation of embedded moral and cultural values.
