Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of biology teaching through inquiry integrated with cooperative towards the critical thinking ability. This research addresses the role of inquiry and cooperative learning strategy as well as these interactions towards the increase of the critical thinking ability. Quasi experimental research of Pretest-postest nonequivalent control group design with factorial design 2x2x2 were implemented on the odd semester in academic years of 2006/2007  on X grade student of the state SMA in Metro City Lampung. The  research sample consists of 96 students, comprising of student from high and low academic abilities. To examine hypothesis, it is used Ancova technique and continued by LSD test. There was a difference on the critical thinking ability  between students who learn by inquiry level 1 with student who learn by inquiry level 2, between students, who have high academic ability and students who have low academic ability, and there was not difference on the critical thinking ability  between students who learn by STAD cooperative  with student who learn by TPS. There is no effect of interaction between inquiry with cooperative, inquiry with student’s academic ability, cooperative with student’s academic ability, inquiry with cooperative and student’s academic ability towards the cognitive achievement Kata kunci: cooperative learning, inquiry, berpikir kritis

Abstract

The aim of the research to implement of worksheet word square with laboratory practice are to improve  study result of  student in grade VIII at MTs Al-Asror  year education  2011/2012 the subject matter  living systems of plants. The method in this research  was classroom  action research and  the subjeck of research is student at VIII MTS Al-Asror. The research indicated that more than 75 % student can finish the examinition. The data gaided by observation and  tes technique, and then  analysed  by using discriptif data analysed technique. The result of the analysis, showed  that  aim of worksheet word square with laboratory practice  are to increase the study result of student. Kata Kunci: model word square, praktik laboratorium, hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to improve students’ learning activity by using inquiry method with biology comics for the students of VII A MTs Negeri Metro (2) to improve students’ achievement in learning biology by using inquiry method with biology comics for the students of VII A MTs Negeri Metro. The results of this research were (1) learning through inquiry method which uses biology comics can improve students’ activity during the learning process. From the data of observation, the students achievements increase from cycle I to cycle II (from 46.6% to 55.28%), it means that the increasing is about 8.68% (2) learning through inquiry method which uses biology comics can improve students’ activity during the learning process, the students achievements increase from cycle II to cycle III (from 60% to 76.7%), it means that the increasing is about 16, 7%. Kata kunci: metode inkuiri, media komik biologi, aktivitas belajar, hasil belajar biologi

Abstract

This research was intended to 1) know how to increase the students’ activity of class X of SMA Teladan 1 Metro through contextual learning based on inquiry 2) know how master the concept about ecosystem of students class X of SMA Teladan 1 Metro through contextual learning based on inquiry 3) know whether there is increase of learning activity and mastery of ecosystem concept through contextual learning based on inquiry. To gain the objectives above, the research method used in this research was Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subject of the research were the students of class X of SMA Teladan 1 Metro. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that 1) Contextual Learning can increase the student learning activity, which covers: a) listening to teacher explanation activity which was 5-10 % previously out of the whole class became 96%, b) proposing idea activity which was previously 1-5% out of all students became 94%, c) observation activity which was previously 15% out of all students became 85%, d) activity in following discussion which was 15% previously out of the whole students became 84%, e) activity in doing analysis and reporting the result was 10% previously became 96%. 2) Contextual learning can increase concept of ecosystem mastery by comparing pre-test and post test result in the end of the cycle 2. From the analysis, it was found that the Gain score was normalized became 0,793 or there was increase of concept mastery as high as 79.3% from the gain before the treatment compared to after the treatment, and 3) contextual learning can increase learning activity and concept of ecosystem mastery. Kata kunci: Contextual Teaching and Learning, Aktivitas Belajar, Penguasaan Konsep

Abstract

Biology learning should emphasize the provision of direct experience and at this time, using idelly scinence process skills (SPS). But on the subject of research, the lack of provision direct experience during the learning process and there is no provision of SPS in a structure way. Thus, the research applied the method of an inquiry guided based-portfolio, a method own answer to exsiting problems by using sins process skills. The conclusions in this study is the application of an inquiry guided based-portfolio to develop students scinence process skills classes X4 semsester odd Sinior High School 1 Purbolinggo year 2011/2012. The development can be observed from the increase as follows: the skills to make hypothesis or pre-CAR by 6,5% to 72,4% after the study, acquire skill and process data from the pre-CAR by 48,8% after the study to 80,6%, communicating skills pre-CAR by 6,5% after the study to 82%, and concluded at a rate skills of pre-CAR by 9,8% after the study to 78,7%.Kata kunci:  Inkuiri Terbimbing, Portofolio, Keterampilan Proses Sains

Abstract

Abstract. This research to know effect of Pineapple Liquid Compost (PLC) in long term the growth of celery. This research conducted at the village in Yosodadi 21 Polos, East Metro, Metro City since 7 December until 28 February 2015. This research is experimental research, the design used the Complete Random Design (CRD). This research used entisol soil that was exposed by PLC once and entisol soil that was exposed by PLC twice. The treatment was done to them both by giving PLC about 200ml in a time per three days. The data analysis was done by using normality test (liliefors), homogeneity test (barlett) and Ttes. It shows that there is no negative effect of fertilizer use PLC in the long term against the growth of celery in entisol soil that was exposed by PLC once and entisol soil that was exposed by PLC twice.

Abstract

Research on the distribution and colony size of nests of Nasutitermes sp. (Isoptera: Termitidae) have been conducted in Sebesi Island, Lampung. The method used in this study is a direct observation on the northern coast Sebesi Island. The results showed there were 60 nests of termite Nasutitermes sp. on the nine hosted tree species, i.e. Spandias sp., Leucaena leucocephala, Cocos nucifera, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Moringa oleifera, Rhizophora apiculata, Delonix regia, Pandanus sp., and Morinda citrifolia. These termite nests vary in size. Direct counting on two nests indicates that colony size of Nasutitermes sp. on the nest sized 0.00828 m3 were 20,192 individuals and on the nest sized 0.1756 m3 were 35,086 individuals.The result of the the research gives contribution source of learning material in biology learning. Kata Kunci: Nasutitermes sp, rayap pohon, sebaran, ukuran sarang

Abstract

The potency of fishery and ocean spreading in Indonesia is largely taken benefit especially for fishermen sciety. Abstract

This research was a quasi experimental aimed to investigate the influenced of inquiry learning model to generic science skills of students class XI IPA SMAN 1 Pangkajene Sidrap on buffer solution subject matter. Research design used “Nonequivalent Control Group Design” that consist of two variable there are inquiry learning model as dependent variable and generic science skills as independent variable. Population in this research is students class XI IPA SMAN 1 Pangkajene Sidrap academic year 2012/2013 which amount 240 students. The sample choosen by class random sampling and have choosen XI IA 1 as experiment class consist of 34 students and XI IA 2 as control class consist of 35 students. Instrument that used is generic science skills test (KGS) were integrated into buffer solution subject matter that includes indirect observation, sense of scale, logical frame, causality, mathematical modeling and concept formation.  The data was collected by given generic science skills test in pretest and posttest by objective test. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The descriptive results showed that generic science skills student of experiment class get N-gain average 0.71 in high categories and control class get N-gain average 0.31 in medium categories. The inferential statistics analysis showed that tcalculated 7,17 > ttable 1,68 in significant level α = 0.05, so H0 failed or H1 accepted. The result of analysis describe that inquiry learning model have positive influenced to generic skills science of students on buffer solution subject matter.Kata Kunci: Inquiry, Keterampilan Generik Sains

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to increasing students learning outcomes. This method provides a direct experience for students, students thinking skills, develop collaborative attitude with his partner and share knowledge with other students. The subjects in this research were students on grade X3 of SMAN 1 Batanghari academic year 2009/2010. This research was conducted on November 2009 which was carried out in 2 cycles. Each cycle is held 3 times meetings and every meeting in each cycle carried out the evaluation.The results of this research show that the students learning outcomes in the first cycle with learning completeness percentage 53.13% with an average rating of 67.65, on the second cycle increases with the percentage of mastery learning to be 84.37% with an average rating of 83.28. Based on the results and discussion can be concluded that learning with TPS that accompanied with experiments can increasing students learning outcomes. The researchers suggest to teachers can be implement the TPS method accompanied with experiments to increasing student learning outcomes. Kata Kunci : TPS, eksperimen, hasil belajar
