Abstract

Population density triggers urban density so that urban parks become important infrastructure that has a significant ecological impact while beautifying the environment, entertainment facilities, research, and social spaces. The provision of parks in Bojonegoro City is needed to meet these needs. This study aims to analyze the priority of urban park functions in Bojonegoro based on the function of green open space. The analysis uses the Process Hierarchy Analysis (AHP) method to determine the value of the priority vector of functions and the value of the priority vector on the supporting factors of the provision of urban parks. The results of the study show that the priorities in the process of providing urban parks, both the planning, land provision and blending processes are budget availability (0.859) and socio-cultural functions (0.684). Budget availability allows for routine maintenance, such as garden maintenance, facility repairs, and waste management. The availability of the budget provides a solution for improving the quality of city parks as public RTH in accordance with service standards.

Abstract

Landscape architecture significantly contributes to sustainable development by incorporating universal design principles in the design of public open spaces. The design of urban parks, green corridors, and public squares prioritizes ecological sustainability and accessibility. Universal design incorporates accessibility features like ramps, tactile paths, and safe materials, while also promoting ecological sustainability through the use of green infrastructure like catchment parks and bioswales. This case study takes place in a public area in Kendari. We gathered the data through observational and interview techniques. We utilize analytical and synthetic methods to understand requirements, capabilities, and obstacles while integrating ecological, social, and technical components into a cohesive design. The research findings consist of practical principles and recommendations for the implementation of universal design in landscape architecture, encompassing layouts that facilitate social interaction, the utilization of sustainable materials, and solutions for water management. This research demonstrates that universal design enhances inclusivity while offering ecological, social, and cultural advantages; therefore, it aids in the development of public places that are adaptable, inclusive, and promote urban sustainability.

Abstract

Kuching Waterfront attracts researchers to evaluate its significance and contribution to urban design. The concept of urbanization in today’s society related to daily utilitarian living outlives the setting of a place. This paper examined the urban elements through the theory forwarded by leading scholars and examined the crucial role interplay in understanding and enhancing the character of the place. The analysis of the urban elements along Java Lane as the outset of the waterfront’s location in Kuching stretch until the Riverside Apartment that covers 1.3 kilo meters was declared open in 1993. By examining road infrastructure, public spaces, and architectural features along with ideas based on the theories of Lynch, Shirvani, Weisenburger, Hillier and Hanson, this research examines urban structures that contribute to context and their role in the urban landscape. Data was collected by means of field observations and interviews. The study was carried out by tracing the intricate fabric structure of the waterfront and shedding light on its significance and challenges. The research findings contribute to the development of understanding of the role of roads in the urban landscape and offer recommendations to promote sustainable urban development in Kuching.

Abstract

Challenges related to the visual aspects of the urban environment arise from the diverse interests, abilities, and perceptions of the community. These differences have an impact on the physical condition of the area, causing the visual process to be complicated and difficult to recognize. The revitalization of the Taman Ismail Marzuki area aims to revive the area as a center for arts and educational facilities. This effort includes the construction of a new building with various facilities. This study aims to examine the suitability of the visual elements of the façade of the building after revitalization, as well as its influence on the formation of the image of the area. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. Data collection through surveys (questionnaires). The selection of respondent samples was carried out by accidental sampling, then analyzed using mean score analysis and multiple linear regression. The results show that the characteristics of the visual elements of the façade significantly affect the image of the area. Of the eight variables of the study, three main visual elements—architectural style, walls, and sun shading—highlight the characteristics of the area and play an important role in enhancing the image of Taman Ismail Marzuki.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the prevalence of injuries in school-age children is quite high, with around 6.5% of incidents occurring in the school environment. According to WHO (2022), fall injuries are one of the leading causes of death globally, highlighting the importance of injury risk management, especially in primary school-aged children (6–12 years).  Children in this age range have cognitive limitations in recognizing dangerous situations, so a safe physical environment at school is essential to support their safety and learning process. This study evaluates the safety of classroom infrastructure at SDN Ketawanggede, Malang. This study uses a descriptive-evaluative qualitative approach and case study methods to identify risk areas. The results of the study showed that the circulation of classrooms, furniture, and other design elements needed improvement. Recommendations include rearranging furniture and installing whiteboards according to ergonomic standards to improve safety and comfort in the learning process.

Abstract

Rumoh Aceh is a lengthy process that extracts cultural values from the intelligence of the Acehnese people. In the past, the Acehnese people were unfamiliar with sophisticated tools for measuring dimensions, but they were familiar with the traditional measurement known as seunipat. The size of the body parts of the Rumoh Aceh owner serves as the benchmark, allowing for variations in the dimensions of the Rumoh Aceh column module. This study examines the application of anthropometry to Rumoh Aceh in the city of Lhokseumawe. The research methods applied are a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods. The research sample technique uses purposive sampling. This study focuses on three Acehnese rumohs, who are over 50 years old and still exist in physical form. We collected the data through field observation and a review of relevant literature. The measurement data will be analyzed by converting the measurement results into unipat dimensions and comparing the three Aceh rumohs. The study's findings demonstrate variations in the use of anthropometry, as evidenced by the variations in the research sample's column module, which stem from variations in the homeowner's body dimensions.

Abstract

The theory of interior branding is a concept proposed by Kim Kuhteubl (2016) in her book "Branding + Interior Design: Visibility and Business Strategy for Interior Designers". The theory of interior branding explores the role of interior design in reinforcing brand identity and customer loyalty. Discussion regarding this theory can be found in journals/articles that examine the implementation of interior branding in various commercial spaces. Among these discussions are explanations concerning the aspects that contribute to interior branding, such as vision, story, and energy. However, in-depth explanations regarding the meaning of these aspects in forming interior branding are still limited. This limitation poses a risk of generating multiple interpretations of the theory of interior branding. Nevertheless, these aspects can be further elucidated by referencing fundamental theories of interior design. This journal aims to complement the explanations of each aspect that shapes interior branding. A more comprehensive explanation can provide a deeper understanding. The research method employed is a literature review method related to each relevant keyword. The literature review sources are limited to the fields of interior design and architecture to ensure relevance and alignment with the context of the research.

Abstract

The discussion on cultural heritage has evolved to integrate both tangible and intangible aspects in urban heritage management. Heritage conservation now faces challenges related to resources and the condition of urban elements. When assessing cultural significance, it's important to look beyond physical objects and consider social and cultural factors. The Lasem revitalization project has focused on improving public spaces and street corridors, but the protection of historical urban features is often overlooked, causing new problems. This research used surveys, interviews, and participation mapping to gather data. The analysis framework is based on understanding historical urban features, cultural significance, and people-centered conservation. The study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to both tangible and intangible heritage in Lasem’s historic areas and finds that people-centered conservation views heritage as a socio-cultural construct.

Abstract

However, not all cities have uniformly implemented sustainable streetscape, particularly in the context of historic corridors, despite its critical role in enhancing urban success and boosting tourist appeal. The goal of this study is to look at how to create sustainable streetscapes using urban and social principles and public opinion. The Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rahmat corridor after the changes was used as an example. This research utilizes a descriptive quantitative method to identify the actual conditions through direct observations and public impressions, using questionnaires with a Likert scale, which are then analyzed through mean score analysis. The characteristics of this study include legibility, comfort, safety, beauty, liveliness, and healthy urban communities. The study's results show that, in the public's opinion, the implementation of a sustainable streetscape along the Jalan Jenderal Basuki Rahmat corridor meets urban and social principles. The variables of attractiveness and liveliness got the highest mean scores. The Malang City Government anticipates this research to play a significant role in facilitating the city's success.

Abstract

The Child-Friendly Village Program (DRA) in Lamongan Regency is a continuation of both the Child-Friendly Regency program and the Habitat Agenda II, specifically the Child-Friendly City initiative. Although Lamongan Regency lacks a designated DRA village, several villages have demonstrated commitment and progress in meeting the DRA indicators. In line with the priority program, namely tourist villages, DRA needs to be studied as a thematic tourism village because it has specific tourist attractions and attractions for children. This research aims to determine potential villages for thematic tourism based on Child-Friendly Villages. This study uses a case study method. We collected data through in-depth interviews and observation techniques. The data analysis employs a weighting technique (scoring) to evaluate tourism potential and DRA implementation. This technique involves assigning a score of 86-100 for very good, 71-85 for good, 56-70 for quite good, and less than 55 for not good. The results of the study show that the potential village with the highest value is Kendal Sekaran Village. This research provides practical recommendations for local governments in the development of child-friendly thematic tourism villages, as well as being a reference for other villages in meeting the Child-Friendly Village indicators.
