Journal Lisanuna: The present this journal is a place for lecturers in the Departement of Arabic Language Education Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers and Lecturers of UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh to general channel their ideas the study of Arabic and learning, as well as observers forum and Arabic educational practitioners to distribute writing, ideas study and insights, both from within the UIN Ar-Raniry campus environment and from outside UIN Ar-Raniry campus, including Arabic teachers at Madrasah and Public School. Currently, there is still minimal media to facilitate Arabic scientific articles studying Arabic and learning. The Journal Lisanuna Departement Arabic Language Education Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher UIN Ar-Raniry wishes contribute to study of Arabic studies and learning too.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using animation media in Arabic language learning to improve students' listening skills at Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Candung Agam. This research uses a qualitative approach with experimental methods. Data collection techniques through test questions. A qualitative approach was chosen to provide an in-depth understanding of the experiences and views of teachers and students regarding the application of animated learning media. This research involved several steps. First, through the observation stage, the researcher actively observed and recorded how animation media was applied in Arabic language learning at the Candung Agam Islamic Tarbiyah Madrasah. and Interaction between teachers and students as well as students' responses to this learning media are the main focus of observation. Second, test questions were carried out on students to determine the extent of their improvement and understanding regarding the use of animation media. Based on data analysis, this research concludes that the use of animation-based learning media provides significant benefits in improving students' Arabic listening skills at Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Canduang Agam.  Through this learning media, teachers can present learning material in a more interesting and interactive way, which directly attracts students' interest and attention. Apart from that, the use of animation media also increases students' motivation in learning and listening to Arabic.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Word Square media with a scientific approach in improving Arabic writing creativity (kitabah) of MTs Ittihadul Ulum Lubuklinggau students. The main problem faced is the conventional learning approach that does not involve students actively so that it has an impact on low writing creativity. The research method used mixed method with exploratory sequential model. The quantitative design used a pseudo-experiment with experimental and control groups. Data were collected through tests (pretest-posttest), observations, and interviews. Quantitative data analysis used the Mann-Whitney test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental class with an average posttest score of 78.5 compared to the control class of 69.5. Asymp. Sig value of 0.66

Abstract

The skills of Indonesian students in higher-order thinking, or Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), in various dimensions are still far from what is expected. It is suspected that the main factor behind this low skill level is that these HOTS dimensions are still not clearly defined. This issue becomes even more unsolvable because teachers, as planners, implementers of teaching and learning activities in the classroom, and the front-line assessors of learning outcomes, have not yet enhanced their knowledge and abilities in HOTS concepts and their implementation. In teaching foreign language subjects, such as Arabic, the integration of HOTS is considered even more challenging due to the nature of the subject, which focuses more on vocabulary learning, language rules, and language skills, often relying solely on lower-order thinking skills. For the Arabic language subject to contribute to building HOTS in students, a reorientation of learning that integrates both language learning objectives and HOTS learning objectives is needed. This formulation of the reorientation of Arabic language learning is carried out by reviewing the theories and frameworks of cognitive processes and knowledge content, and then trying to formulate the orientation of Arabic language learning and adopting other foreign language learning practices. One aspect of this reorientation is to integrate learning activities with teaching materials and instructional procedures that facilitate students in learning, practicing, and absorbing the dimensions of HOTS. With this reorientation, it is hoped that the Higher Order Thinking Skills learning component will become an integral part of Arabic language learning in the classroom.

Download PDFThis study aims to explore the impact of contextual Arabic language learning within the pesantren environment, focusing on the development of reading (maharah qirā’ah) and speaking (maharah kalām) skills at the Madrasah Aliyah level. Using a qualitative research approach, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and students’ reflective journals. The findings indicate that the implementation of contextual teaching strategies such as the use of pesantren-based daily themes, situational dialogues, and visual media significantly enhanced students’ engagement, comprehension, and vocabulary retention. Students demonstrated improved ability to connect vocabulary to lived experiences and increasingly used Arabic in everyday social contexts. These results support constructivist language teaching frameworks and highlight the importance of cultural relevance and experiential learning in Arabic education. The study recommends integrating contextual approaches into pesantren curricula to foster more meaningful, effective, and sustainable Arabic language learning.

Abstract

The Arabic language learning at MAN 4 Medan indicates that some students exhibit a lack of enthusiasm, limited interaction, and ineffective collaboration among students. Additionally, teachers face challenges such as time and resource constraints, which result in low student learning outcomes. This research aims to identify the implementation of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) cooperative learning strategy in Arabic language instruction and to evaluate its impact on student learning outcomes. The study involved 30 students from grade tenth of MAN 4 Medan as samples. Research instruments included Pre and Post Tests, observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results show a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with the average post-test score (82.8%) being higher than the pre-test score (53.5%). N-Gain analysis indicates a moderate increase in learning effectiveness (0.6). Thus, the STAD strategy has proven effective in enhancing Arabic language learning outcomes and can serve as an alternative in Arabic language teaching in schools.

Abstract

The students of MIN 1 Kota Banda Aceh often face difficulties in understanding Arabic vocabulary due to the limited use of effective teaching methods, which leads to low motivation and boredom in learning. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Tic Tac Toe game as a teaching aid to improve students’ Arabic vocabulary and to identify their responses to this method. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving both experimental and control groups, with pre-tests, post-tests, and a questionnaire as data collection tools. The findings indicate that Tic Tac Toe is effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery, as shown by the independent t-test results using IBM SPSS Statistics 22 with a significance value of 0.01 < 0.05, confirming the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis. Furthermore, the students’ responses were highly positive, with 97% indicating favorable attitudes toward the use of Tic Tac Toe in learning Arabic vocabulary.
