Abstract

The low understanding of 5th-grade students at SDN Ukirsari on adding fractions became the reason for this research. The issue arises because learning approaches tend to be less student-oriented and do not utilize learning media. The RME (Realistic Mathematic Education) approach is implemented as a corrective action to address this issue. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model which is characterized by each cycle including 4 stages (planning, acting, observation, reflection). To obtain data on action processes and learning outcomes, observation and test techniques are used. The targets for the success of this research were achieved in cycle II. The results of data analysis on cycle I and II learning outcomes prove that there is an increase in the percentage of students' completion after using the RME approach. Based on data analysis from observations, it can be seen that there has been a change in the quality  of  the  learning  process  to  become  student-centered.  So,  the  RME approach succeeded in improving the learning outcomes of 5th-grade students at SDN Ukirsari on the concept of adding fractions and was also able to encourage students to be more active during the learning process. Keywords: RME, Fractions, Elementary school.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low understanding of mathematical concepts at MIN 26 Aceh Besar. Data obtained from 26 students show that 27.88% of students can solve problems with the indicator of restating a concept, 41.35% can solve problems with the indicator of identifying examples and non-examples of a concept, and 30.77% can solve problems with the indicator of identifying objects according to specific properties in line with the concept. The low understanding of these concepts is due to the lack of students' desire to learn the material presented and their failure to pay attention to the material explained by the teacher. This study aims to determine the impact of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by unit cube props on the conceptual understanding of fifth-grade students at MIN 26 Aceh Besar. This research uses a quantitative method with a true-experimental design. The population in this study comprises all fifth-grade students at MIN 26 Aceh Besar, while the samples are class Va, consisting of 26 students, and class Vb, consisting of 23 students. The instrument used in this research is a test to measure students' conceptual understanding. The data collection technique is a test in the form of a pre-test and post-test. Data analysis techniques include converting ordinal data into interval data using the Method of Successive Intervals (MSI), creating frequency distribution lists, calculating average values, conducting normality tests, homogeneity tests, equality of two means tests, regression tests, and hypothesis tests. Based on the analysis results, the average score obtained in the experimental class pre-test is 12.59 and in the control class is 11.17. Meanwhile, the post-test average score for the experimental class is 18.598, and for the control class, it is 13.672. The analysis results show that t_{calculated} = 9.425 and t_{table} = 1.677; since t_{calculated} > t_{table}, Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. Keywords: Realistic Mathematics Education, Unit Cube Props

Abstract

One of the teacher's tasks in affective assessment is to measure students' talents, encouragement and interest in the material being taught. It is hoped that the assessment results will provide an overview of students' affective measures, so that teachers can analyze and make recommendations on how to improve students' attitudes, encouragement and motivation for learning. However, in practice teachers in elementary schools face various challenges in carrying out affective assessments. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive analysis method with a phenomenological approach. A phenomenological approach is also used to support literature studies from relevant books and journals. Challenges in affective assessment include teachers' lack of understanding of assessment standards, limitations in implementing authentic assessment, and difficulties in directing and observing students as a whole. The subjectivity of assessment is also a problem, considering that assessment results are often influenced by teachers' personal perceptions and preferences, which causes inconsistent assessment results. Other obstacles include limited assessment tools and methods, lack of training for teachers, and low involvement of parents and the community in supporting affective assessment. Keywords: Teacher Challenges, Affective Assessment, Elementary School

Abstract

The integration of scientific concepts in Ali Abdul Halim interpretation of character education in Islamic elementary schools is important because it is able to bridge understanding between modern science and Islamic values. By examining this interpretation, we can find a relevant approach to integrating scientific knowledge into a religious-based character education curriculum, thereby producing students who are not only academically intelligent but also have strong morals and ethics. This research aims to explore science concepts in Ali Abdul Halim interpretation of the Qur'an and their relevance to character education in Islamic elementary schools. Additionally, the study examined how the integration of these science concepts could be applied to character education. A descriptive qualitative methodology with a library research approach was utilized. Data sources included Ali Abdul Halim exegesis texts, books, and articles on character education. Data collection was achieved through document analysis and was thematically analyzed, categorized, interpreted, and comprehensively concluded. The findings describe the significance of integrating scientific knowledge with the understanding of Qur'anic verses using a holistic approach that incorporates linguistic, historical, and other scientific aspects. Ali Abdul Halim interpretation integrates the understanding of the Qur'an with modern science across various disciplines. His exegesis emphasizes the importance of character education, focusing on the development of good morals, and the roles of family and environment. Abstract

Learning difficulties are a form of obstacle that often occurs in the world of education, the obstacle in question is dyslexia. Dysselection is a problem that is often encountered in students, especially in grades one and two. This study focuses on the factors that cause dyslexic children and how to overcome them. This study uses qualitative research. The data collection technique is by interviews and observation while the analysis technique uses data reduction and conclusions. Research results: children who experience dyslexia at SDIT Al-Fadiyah Gowa are caused by internal factors such as genetics or parental lineage. Symptoms of dyslexia in children can be characterized by the child's inability to distinguish letters similar to the letters b and d, difficulty reading, and difficulty procusing words. This can be done by communicating with parents to do therapy on children, then providing special guidance to children with literacy and tutoring programs. The method of teaching dyslexic children at school is carried out by grouping children with dyslexia, providing intensive guidance, getting used to reading books together, and accompanying children throughout the learning process. The solution offered by the author in overcoming dyslexia in children can be done by creating a reading corner in the classroom, then the teacher uses the right methods and media for dyslexic children, adequate facilities, especially books with interesting variations. Keywords: Learning difficulties, Dyslexia, Reading difficulties.

Abstract

This study is to find out how the fulfillment of the Right to Education for children with special needs who experience dyslexia through the phonics method as an alternative therapy. Many students with special needs attend public schools and they are generally dyslexic. Dyslexic children take a slower time to speak because they have difficulty remembering letters, words and sentences. This condition hampers the child's growth and development, especially in the academic process. One of the effective therapy methods in improving the reading and writing skills of dyslexic patients is phonics. This type of research is qualitative research, as a research procedure that produces descriptive data on issues related to the phonics method as an alternative therapy for dyslexic children. Judging from Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System (UUSPN), it can be seen that the State has guaranteed legal certainty in the context of preventive protection. The research approach used is a legal and community research approach (socio legal research). The socio legal research approach is conducted to find out whether the UUSPN has accommodated the Right to Education for children with special needs who have dyslexia and whether the choice of the phonics method as an alternative therapy has become an effort to fulfill the Right to Education for dyslexic children. The phonics method can help improve the reading ability of dyslexic students, so that they can follow the learning process in class, thus the phonics method is one of the supporting factors in achieving the goals of National Education as stated in Article 3 of the UUSPN.Keywords: Phonics Method, Educational Rights, Dyslexic Children
