Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of kaledo in Palu City. The study used a completely randomized design and samples were taken at eight micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM). Each sample had three replicates and therefore there were 24 research samples. Parameters analyzed were water content, ash content, protein content, fat content, and total microbial number. The results showed that kaledo in Palu City had its water content ranging from 64.36 - 69.19%, ash content from 1.28–1.99%, protein content from 23.02–24.97%, fat content from 4.27– 6.64% and total microbial number from 1.54–6.79 log cfu/g.

Abstract

This experiment was aimed to examine the addition of concentrate on dry matter and crude protein digestibility of Bali steers given King grass (Pennisetum purpurephoides). The experiment was conducted in village Oloboju sub district of Sigi Biromaru district of Donggala. Five Bali steers used in the experiment. Their weight ranged from 125 kg to 182 kg. The animals placed on permanent pen with concrete floor. The pen was divided into five plotseach for animal placement and treatment. The experiment design used was a latin square 5 x 5. There was five period, each period consisted of 2 step namely preliminary and data collection period which was 7 day each. The treatment employed 0.0% ; 0.5% ; 1.0% ; 1.5% ; 2.0% of animal weight of concentrate. The basal diet was King grass ad-libitum. The result of variance analysis showed that level of addition concentrate to King grass significantly affected (P<0.01) digestibility of dry matter and crude protein of feed of Bali steers. The higher concentrate level the higher dry matter digestibility of feed. The crude protein digestibility responded quadratically to level of concentrate addition.

Abstract

The conversion of fertile rice land in some areas of rice production center has implications for food security achievement and farmers’ income. This problem has been anticipated by government through creating new rice field in potential land including swamp areas. The research objective was to identify the potency, suitability and opportunity of the swamp areas for rice farming system in Tolitoli regency Central Sulawesi. The research was conducted in two stages: 1) Preparation and 2) Field and laboratory research. Three soil orders were found in the research areas including Histosols with sub groups ranged from typic sulfihemist to typic sulfibrist, Entisols with sub group sulfit endoaquent, and Inceptisols with sub groups typic endoaquepts and sulfit endoaquepts. The potency for rice plant development was quite good. The land suitability class for rice plant in Lampasio was Moderately Suitable (S2) with nutrient retention (nr) and oxygen availability were its limiting factor. Marginally Suitable class (S3) occupied parts of Buga and Lampasio with dominant limiting factors were flood hazard, sulfide, and nutrient retention. The land suitability class of Not Suitable could also be found in both Lampasio and Bunga.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the dynamics of Lembah Palu shallot varietygrowth under various rates of organic fertilizer and different intervals of sprinkle watering systems. The research was conducted in Bulupountu Jaya village, SigiBiromarusub district, Sigi district of Central Sulawesi province from October to January 2014. The experiment was conducted using Split Plot design in which the main plots were watering intervals (one hour watering for every three days and one hour watering for every six days) and sub plots were 40 t/ha organic fetilizer applications (green leaf and manure bokashi).Plant parameters oberved were total leaf area, dry plant weight, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate and leaf area ratio.  The research results showed that there was no significant interaction effect between the watering intervals and the bokashi on the growth and yield of the shallots and individually the effect of the watering intervals was not significant as well.  Whereas, individually the bokashi was found to significantly affected the dry weight of Lembah Palu shallot variety plant at 40 days after planting. Keywords: Lembah Palu shallot, Organic fertilizers, and Watering.

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the growth of some papaya varieties as affected by various fertilizer applications. The research was carried out from November 2008 to March 2009 in "Puspita Karya Karava Tandau" Sidondo of Sigi Regency.  The research used a Split Plot Design.  The main plot was various papaya varieties (V): small local (v1), big local (v2), item (v3), watermelon (v4), Mexico (v5), and Bangkok (v6). The sub plot was fertilizer types (P): control (p0), Saputra Nutrient (p1), NPK (p2), bokashi (p3), Saputra nutrients + NPK (p4), and Saputra nutrient + bokashi (p5). The results of research indicated that only the manure types had significant effect on the growth of papaya.  The mixture of saputra nutrient+bokasi resulted in significantly larger plant stem diameter at 16 months after planting (MAP), height at 18 MAP, and dry weight than any other treatments.

Abstract

High tomatoes production in Boyaoge not necessarily has positive impact on farmers’ incomedue to the fluctuation of the tomatoes price.  The aims of this study were to (1) identify the form of marketing channels and margins at each marketing channel in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City, (2) to determine tomatoes price in each marketing channel accepted by farmers in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City and (3) the determine marketing efficiency in each marketing channel in in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City.  Farmer respondents 30 people were chosen using census method while traders using tracing sampling technique. The research results showed that the sale price of the tomatoes by the farmers in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City is either IDR 91,520,000/15 ha equal to  IDR 60,800,000/ha.  The tomato farming system in in Boyaoge village Tatanga sub district of Palu City is feasible to be developed as sshown by its two marketing channels: (1) Farmers à Collecting Traders à Distributing Traders à Consumers; (2) Farmers à Distributing Trader à Consumers.  The total margin for each marketing channel was IDR 2,000/kg.  The part of the price received by the farmers was 50% from either channel 1 or 2.   The marketing channel 2 is more efficient than the marketing channel 2 as the ratio of the total cost to the sale price in the former marketing was 17.66% whereas the latter was 5.95%. KeyWords: Marketing, and Tomatoes Farming

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of price attributes, physical perfection, and freshness of organic vegetables on organic vegetable purchase in Palu. The number of samples in this research was 60 people determined by quota sampling technique. Path analysis was used to analyze data. Price, physical performance, and freshness are factors affecting consumers’ preferences to purchase the organic vegetable in Palu.  These three variables have significant effect on the organic vegetable purchase in Palu.  The price, physical perfection and freshness of the vegetables simultaneously had significant effect on purchasing variable with R² equal to 0.763.

Abstract

The research aimed at determining the age of nangka rootstock and the level of Nutrifarm-SD fertilizer on the successful knitting of grafting.  The research was arranged in a Randomized Block design in a factorial experiment in which grouping was based on the rootstock length.  Two factors applied included the age of the rootstock: 1 month after sowing (BST), 2 months after sowing, and                 3 months after sowing and the levels of Nutrifarm-SD: control, 5 g seed kg-1, 10 g seed kg-1, and 15 g seed kg-1.  Grafting using younger rootstock (1 month after planting) resulted in the largest number of successful bonding.  Either the single effect of Nutrifarm-SD fertilizer or combined effect with the age of the rootstock was insignificance on all parameters observed.

Abstract

The research conducted to estimate the heritability value and genetic correlation of growth traits of crossbred F (indigenous hens X Bangkok cocks) were done over 28 weeks. Five groups of pen mating poultry were used in which one cock and five hens were used for each group. Therefore, there were 5 cocks and 25 hens as parent stock and 152 crossbred F. Variables of the research were body weight of DOC, body weight of 4th weeks and 8th weeks. The variations of body weight by sex were eliminated by transforming the female body weight to male body weight using correction factor. Estimation of heritability value (h²) used an anova of nested design method. Estimation of genetics correlation (rG) used an  ancova of nested design. Results of heritability estimates and genetic correlation showed that the h² was 0.13 for Doc body weight, 0. 67 for 4th weeks, and 0,59 8th weeks. The rG was 0.89 for DOC to 4th week body weight, and 0.55 for DOC to 8th week body weight

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find the culture technology of organic rice production based on liquid organic fertilizer and botanical pesticide with high yield and efficiency. This research was conducted at Purwosari Village, Baturaden Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency, Central Java from August to November 2010. This research was arranged using a Randomized Completely Block Design with seven cultures of organic rice production technology as the treatments. The agronomic variables were plant height, number of tillering, and rice yield (ton/ha). Financial variables were fixed cost, variable cost, and farming revenue. The agronomic variables were analyzed by F test, and if the effect of the treatments were significant the analysis was proceed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at 5% level. The financial variable was analyzed using R/C analysis, profit rate analysis, and break even point analysis. Results of the research showed that the assembly of the organic rice production technology which was the most efficient in maintaining high production was the technological assembly with component of straw + cow manure of 5 tons/ha per ha + soil liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) (4 ml/l) + leaf liquid organic fertilizer and botanical pesticide consisting of maja and gadung (6%) + biological agent of Trichoderma harzianum (10 ons per plot) at 2 days after planting with the production level 0f 5.04 tons/ha, and the profit rate of 92.35% and the technological assembly with component of straw + cow manure of 5 tons/ha + soil LOF (4 ml/l) + the combination of leaf LOF + botanical pesticide of maja and gadung (6%) + fermented of palm juice (applied on 45 and 55 days after planting) with the production level of 4.6 tons/ha and the profit rate of 81.73%.
