Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects extract of Kenikir in male rats parameters blood glucose, cholesterol and histopathological of the pancreas. Thirty rats were divided into six groups, and each group consists of five individuals with the details of groups I, II, and III as control groups and groups IV, V, and VI for the experiments. Group I: normal control was given NaCMC 0,5%; Group II: control negative was given Streptozotocin 30 mg/kgBW i.p, high feed fat 25 g/day, and the positive control was given met form in 45 mg/kgBW, and the experimental groups were each given extract of the kenikir leaves with dose 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kgBW , and 400 mg/kg BW. The results showed that there were secondary metabolites contained in the extract of leaves of kenikir. Giving the extract of kenikir leaves at the dose of 200 mg/kg is effective in lowering the blood glucose levels, extract of leaves of kenikir with the dose of 400 mg/kg is effective to reduce the total cholesterol levels and regenerate pancreatic tissue, and extract of leaves of kenikir with the dose of 100 mg/kg BW did not give any maximum impacts to decrease the blood glucose. Abstract

In the gastrointestinal system, gastric ulcers are one of the common serious diseases. The pathophysiology of gastric ulcer is an imbalance between aggressive and mucosal defense factor. Imbalance between aggressive and mucosal defense factor have contribution against developed of gastric ulcer disease. The objective of the research was to evaluate gastric ulcer healing effect of Bangle (Zingiber cassumunar (Roxb.) rhizome extract in aspirin-induced rats model. Antiulcer activity of Bangle rhizome extract was evaluated by several parameters involving gastric acidity, number of ulcers, diameters of ulcers, ulcer index, and healing ratio. Doses level of Bangle rhizome extract which used in this study such as 50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg, respectively. Histopathological of the stomach was performed using hematoxylin-eosin stained. The results of study showed that groups which given Bangle rhizome extract have signi cant effect in gastric acidity, number of ulcers, diameters of ulcers, ulcer index, and healing ratio compared to the control group. Histopathological study of the stomach ulcers showed tissues regeneration in group were treated by Bangle rhizome extract compared to the control group. It can be concluded that from the experimental study of Bangle (Zingiber cassumunar (Roxb.)) rhizome extract have potential antiulcer activity in aspirin-induced rats model. Abstract

Trigona itama is a stingless bees that produce honey which has been used widely as a traditional medicine. Due to limited research and knowledge on T. itama propolis, it becomes less popular in industrial production than honeybee propolis. The aim of this study was to identify the antibacterial activity and toxicity level in hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of T.itama propolis. T.itama propolis crude extract was tested for antibacterial activity by using disk di usion method. The antibacterial activities were assessed according to the inhibitory zone of agar medium with sample concentration of 1000 μg/mL, 750 μg/mL and 500 μg/mL. The result from this study revealed that all T. itama propolis crude extract shows presence of inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The brine shrimp lethality test was used to monitor the toxicity level of T. itama propolis where methanol, ethyl acetate and hexane fraction showed low activity of toxicity where all crude extract LC50 showed above 250 μg/mL. It could be concluded from this study that extract from T. itama propolis possessed antimicrobial activity and low level of toxicity. Abstract

Eceng gondok (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms.) berpotensi sebagai sumber bahan baku pembuatan carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (Na-CMC) karena memiliki kandungan selulosa yang tinggi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik Na-CMC serta mengetahui signifikansi perbedaan parameter WHC (Water Holding Capacity) dan OHC (Oil Holding Capacity) dari Na CMC yang disintesis dari selulosa eceng gondok yang tumbuh di Jatinangor dan Lembang. Dilakukan isolasi α-selulosa menggunakan natrium hidroksida 30%,  sintesis Na-CMC melalui tahap alkalinasi menggunakan natrium hidroksida 40% dan karboksimetilasi dengan natrium monokloroasetat; penambahan crosslinker epiklorohidrin; dan karakterisasi Na-CMC berdasarkan Farmakope Indonesia, dan JECFA. Diperoleh rendemen α-selulosa hasil isolasi dari eceng gondok Jatinangor sebesar 20,80% dan Lembang sebesar 18,60% dengan kadar α-selulosa masing-masing 76,53% dan 71,35%; hasil sintesis diperoleh rendemen Na-CMC sebesar 96,87% dan 85,03%; penambahan crosslinker menghasilkan rendemen Na-CMC sebesar 439,14% dan 221,81%. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa Na-CMC telah memenuhi persyaratan organoleptis, kelarutan, foam test, pembentukan endapan, viskositas dan kandungan logam berat. Beberapa parameter lain seperti susut pengeringan, kandungan natrium dan derajat substitusi belum memenuhi persyaratan, namun mempunyai nilai yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan Na-CMC baku. Uji statistika komparatif menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai WHC namun tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai OHC dari Na-CMC hasil sintesis dari tanaman eceng gondok yang tumbuh di Jatinangor dan Lembang.

Abstract

Kanker adalah penyakit mematikan dan angka kejadiannya di Indonesia sangat tinggi. Data di Departemen Kesehatan didapati angka 1,8 per 100 ribu penduduk. Ironisnya saat ini belum ditemukan antikanker yang efektif dan aman. Minyak kayu manisyang diperoleh dari tanaman kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmannii) diduga memiliki aktivitas antikanker. Penelitian sebelumnya  bertujuan untuk isolasi, standarisasi minyak kayu manis sudah dilakukan. Saat ini penelitian dilanjutkan terhadap uji aktifitas serta keamanan minyak kayu manis untuk  mendapatkan fitofarmaka antikanker. Pengujian aktivitas antikanker  dengan menguji kemampuan penghambatan sel kanker terhadap sel line kanker WiDr (kanker kolon). Keamanan minyak kayu manisditentukan dengan melakukan uji toksisitas sub kronis terhadap mencit putih jantan.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa minyak kayu manis memiliki aktifitas sitotoksik terhadap kultur sel WiDr dengan IC50=13,70µg/ml.  Pemberian minyak kayu manis kepada hewan uji Tikus selama 1 bulan tidak memberikan perubahan biokimia darah BUN kreatinin, SGPT dan SGOT, serta hematologi Darah. Hasil histopatologi terhadap hepar dan ginjal juga tidak memberikan kerusakan sel kecuali pada dosis 0,04ml/200 g BB. Kata kunci:Minyak kayu manis, antikanker, WiDr, toksisitas

Abstract

An UPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of ketorolac Tromethamine and tiemonium methylsulphate in pharmaceutical and biosamples. Calibration curves were linear with correlation coefficient 0.9997 over a studied concentration range of (01-10μg m ) for both drugs. Method was found to be reproducible with relative standard deviation (RSD) for intra to be 0.32-0.99% for KTR and 0.40-1.01% for TMS and inter day precision to be 0.51-2.77% for KTR and 0.41-2.26% for TMS over the said concentration range. The mean recovery of the drug obtained from the intraday assay was 99.18-103.34% for KTR, 99.14-101.76% for TMS and inter-day assay at six different days was 99.39-102.04% for KTR and 98.08-103.78% for TMS. The LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.125 and 0.41μg mL-1, respectively for KTR  and 0.150 and 0.50 μg mL-1, respectively for TMS. Method was successfully validated as per ICH guidelines can be conveniently employed for routine quality control analysis of ketorolac tromithamine and tiemonium methylsulphate in pharmaceutical formulations and biological samples without any interference.

Abstract

Sampo digunakan untuk menghilangkan partikel yang tidak diinginkan, seperti minyak dan ketombe. Salah satu tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai sampo adalah teh hijau (Camellia sinensis var. assamica). Penelitian ini bertujuan membuat sampo ekstrak daun teh hijau yang stabil dan aman. Tahapan penelitian meliputi ekstraksi, penapisan fitokimia, formulasi sampo, uji stabilitas fisik meliputi organoleptik, pH, bobot jenis, viskositas, dan uji iritasi. Sampo diformulasikan dengan konsentrasi 5, 10, dan 15% ekstrak daun teh hijau dengan dan tanpa PEG-400. Ekstraksi menghasilkan rendemen sebesar 35%. Penapisan fitokimia menunjukkan simplisia dan ekstrak mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, dan tanin. Sampo ekstrak daun teh hijau berwarna coklat muda yang homogen dengan rentang pH 5,2-7,0, bobot jenis sebesar 0,93-1,10 g/mL, viskositas 1230-3910 cps, tetapi menyebabkan mata merah pada kelinci.

Abstract

Kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana Linn.) mengandung senyawa xanton yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang tinggi. Penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa Fraksi Etil Asetat Kulit Buah Manggis (FEAKBM) memiliki aktivitas antioksidan paling tinggi dibandingkan fraksi air dan n-heksan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi dan mengarakterisasi sediaan masker gel peel-off mengandung FEAKBM. Masker gel peel-off diformulasi menggunakan Polivinil Alkohol (PVA) dan Hidroksi Propil Metil Selulosa (HPMC) sebagai gelling agent. Uji aktivitas antioksidan dari fraksi dan sediaan dilakukan secara in-vitro dengan uji peredaman DPPH. Terhadap sediaan dilakukan evaluasi pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan waktu mengering. Fraksi etil asetat kulit buah manggis memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat tinggi dengan nilai IC50 19,240 µg/mL. Formula optimum basis masker gel mengandung PVA 14% dan HPMC 1%. Sediaan masker gel peel-off  stabil berdasarkan uji stabilitas fisik pada suhu 40 oC selama 28 hari penyimpanan. Sediaan masker gel peel-off mengandung FEAKBM 1% memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai persen inhibisi 53,57±0,591. Kata kunci: Fraksi etil asetat, kulit buah manggis, masker gel peel-off

Abstract

Xantine derivatives are known to have some pharmacological activity, such as a bronchodilator. The substitution on atoms N1 xantine can improve the activity and selectivity as a tracheaspasm. The purpose of this research was to investigate the influence of concentration sodium hydroxide in sodium acetate as solvent used on the production yield of N1-tert-butilteobromin. The result of the synthesis was isolated using chloroform and purified with the preparative thin layer chromatography. The molecule structure of N1-tert-butilteobromin was confirmed using ultraviolet and infrared spectrophotometry. The result showed that sodium hydroxide concentration could effect the results of yield. The yields of 4%, 8%, and 12% sodium hydroxide concentration were 3.7% (0.074 g), 7.2% (0.144 g), and 1.3% (0.026 g), respectively.Keywords: N1-tert-butylteobromin, sodium hydroxide, tert-butylbromide, theobromine

Abstract

Air merupakan kebutuhan manusia yang paling penting. Agar tetap sehat, air minum harus memenuhi persyaratan fisik, kimia maupun bakteriologis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memeriksa cemaran Air Minum Dalam Kemasan (AMDK), Air Minum Isi Ulang (AMIU), dan air dengan alat Pemurnian (Purrified) di masyarakat sekitar jalan Merkuri Timur, Margahayu Raya Bandung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi bakteri Escherichia coli pada air minum. Metode tersebut menggunakan angka lempengan total (ALT), Pewarnaan Gram, Pewarnaan Kapsul, Pewarnaan Tahan Asam, Uji Indol, Metil Merah, Voges Proskauer, Sitrat (IMViC) dan uji fermentasi gula. Dari 5 sampel yang diuji, ke-5 sampel tersebut tidak memenuhi syarat menurut SNI serta PERMENKES karena mengandung jumlah bakteri yang melebihi batas maksimal yaitu 1,0 x 102 untuk cemaran mikroba dan 0 koloni/g (per 100 ml sampel) untuk bakteri Escherichia coli . Dari 5 sampel tersebut 2 sampel teridentifikasi bakteri Escherichia coli sementara 3 sampel lainnya mengandung bakteri koliform yang lain.
