Abstract

The price fluctuation of cayenne pepper in Indonesia is relatively high. Price fluctuations have an impact on consumers significantly when prices increase. This causes consumers to find it challenging to fulfil their daily needs for chilli. The effects of price fluctuations for farmers, namely: farmers have difficulty making production decisions. This causes the risk of cayenne pepper farming to become high. Predicting the price of cayenne pepper in the future is an effort to minimize the risk of cayenne pepper farming and industries requiring cayenne pepper. This study aims (1) to determine the forecasting model for cayenne pepper prices in Surabaya City (2) to predict the price of cayenne pepper during the period January 2020 - June 2020 in the Surabaya City using the ARIMA method. The analyzed data is cayenne pepper prices from July 2010 to December 2019 sourced from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). The analysis results show that the best ARIMA model in estimating the price of red chilli in Surabaya is ARIMA (1,0,1), with a MAPE of 3.84%. The forecast results for the price of cayenne pepper in Surabaya are proven and have decreased.

Abstract

The fisheries sector plays a vital role in developing and providing business and employment opportunities to support the community and regional economy. Kekar tilapia is one of the freshwater fish farming commodities in the fisheries business sector and relatively new tilapia variety with the advantages of a thick (stocky) and a more comprehensive body shape with a smaller head than others tilapia. This case study aimed to determine the income and feasibility of kekar tilapia farming in the South Konawe Regency, explicitly studying the UKM Empang Sari (Small and Medium Enterprise/SME of Empang Sari). Research variables included cost components (fixed and variable costs) and revenue components (production and selling price). The data were analyzed using income and business feasibility analyses. The study results reveal that tilapia fish farming in South Konawe Regency is profitable and feasible, with IDR 4.355.000 per production cycle or IDR 13.066.000 per year with an R/C ratio of 1.6. Hence, it is suggested that UKM Empang Sari increase the kekar tilapia cultivation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of household food security in coastal communities. The research was carried out in 2020 in Lantagi Village, Kulisusu District, North Buton Regency. Samples were taken by simple random sampling with a total sample of 35 people. The data analysis used is descriptive quantitative and analysis of food security status using the household food security module developed by the United States Development of Agriculture. The results showed that the level of household food security status of coastal communities was low. This is because most of the fishermen in the research location are classified as poor, and their source of income only relies on fishing activities. Where fishing activities in the sea are also very dependent on traditional fishing gear, sea conditions, waves, weather/seasons. The steps usually taken by fishermen when facing low-income situations so that household food availability remains adequate are buying cheaper food, reducing food consumption, and sometimes borrowing money from family or neighbors.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of fertilizer delivered to farmers in Baruga Village, Kendari City, with a subsidy. To evaluate the point, the five principles (5T) are used: the appropriate place, the appropriate type, the appropriate quantity, the appropriate time, and the reasonable price. Information was gathered from 24 farmers who received government-subsidized fertilizer through a questionnaire. The sample size is determined by simple random sampling, 10% of the number of farmers receiving subsidized fertilizer, or 240 farms. The percentage of correct responses for each of the five principles was calculated to examine the data. In Kelurahan Baru, Kendari City, the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizer delivery was judged to be 67.50 percent. Baruga was chosen as the research site because it received the most subsidized fertilizers at the district/city level in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

This research aims to know the pepper marketing channels, the marketing margins, and the efficiency of each marketing channel. This research was conducted in the Moramo District of South Konawe Regency from May to November 2021. The study was analyzed using descriptive analysis, marketing margin analysis, and marketing efficiency (Farmer's Share). The sample of pepper farmers was 66 people. In comparison, the sample of marketing agencies was determined by the Snowball Sampling method, which amounted to 6 collectors and small traders as many as three people, and large traders as many as one person. The study results showed the existing channel marketing: (a) Producer, Collector, Trade significant, Consumers (b) Producers, Traders small, Traders big, Consumers. Performance of the pepper marketing channel in channel I, namely the marketing margin of IDR1.000/kg and IDR3,500/kg with a marketing profit of IDR925.52/kg and IDR3.293.56/kg, while in channel II the marketing margin is IDR1.500/kg and IDR2.000/kg with marketing profits of IDR1.337.39/kg and IDR1.793.56/kg. The results of the analysis showed that the percentage of the share of prices received by producers (Farmer's Share) from both pepper marketing channels each showed above 50% in marketing channel I by 92% and marketing channel II by 94%, this indicates that both marketing channels are already very efficient. However, from the farmer's point of view, marketing channel II is more efficient because the profits obtained by farmers are more than in marketing channel I.

Abstract

The sharing and participation of stakeholders from the Government and the community are essential in mining activities. They are concerned with the role of businesses in society's development. A corporate social responsibility (CSR) program aims at enhancing the well-being of the community. This study aims to analyze stakeholder participation in implementing the CSR program. Interviews were conducted on selected respondents based on specific criteria (purposive sampling). Field observations were carried out in the northern Rarowatu sub-district, Bombana Regency in 2015-2019. A total of 30 respondents were selected, consisting of 15 government employees and 15 members of the public. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method to determine relevant themes. Findings show three main themes from government feedback in implementing CSR programs: informing from companies, placation, and partnerships. Community activity in the CSR program has only two main themes: information and collaboration. Although Arnstein described eight stages of participation, the present study only describes three levels of participation, where stakeholders are only at the information mediation level. Therefore, this study supports some of the concepts presented by Arnstein. This level of participation suggests that stakeholders are involved in CSR implementation and community development sustainability. In conclusion, the viability of the company's business and good relations with stakeholders comprising the Government and some members of the public should be maintained. They should be fully elaborate in the enterprise's planning, implementation, and evaluation process.
