Abstract

The development of Peer-to-Peer Lending (P2PL) fintech in Indonesia was growing fast. In the midst of this rapid growth, a volatile pattern shows the dynamics of the P2PL in terms of its performance. This study aims to map the performance of fintech P2PL. The data used are the total disbursement of loans and non-performing loans obtained from each company's website and aggregate data published by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). In this study, a website scraping from 102 fintech companies was obtained from each platform to obtain Non-Performing Loan (NPL) value and accumulated loan distribution. This study also uses the hierarchical clustering method to group each P2PL based on NPL and accumulated loan disbursement. Based on the hierarchical clustering analysis, three clusters distinguish the characteristics of grouping P2PL companies. In first cluster, there are 3 companies with high distribution and low NPL, while in the second cluster consists of 13 companies categorized as poor performance because they related to the low disbursement and high NPL value. In the third cluster there are 71 companies with moderate disbursement and NPL. Based on this mapping several things need to be improved, starting from developing a risk management and monitoring system, lending and operating supervision. Keywords: Fintech, peer to peer lending, clustering, hierarchical clustering, NPL

Abstract

Manufacture sector becomes a focus of this research. The manufacturing sector was chosen because the sector had the biggest GDP in 2016-2020. This research aims to analyze the effect of corporate social responsibility based on corporate philanthropy, leverage, and firm size on the company's financial stability. Financial stability was used as a dependent variable in this study. This research uses a quantitative approach and multiple panel data regression method. The object used in this research was 456 observation data on the Indonesian Stock Exchange from 2016-2020. This research shows that corporate philanthropy has an insignificant effect on financial stability in Indonesia. Leverage has a significant negative effect on financial stability in Indonesia. Firm size has a significant positive effect on financial stability in Indonesia. The conclusion is that corporate philanthropy does not affect financial stability, while the level of leverage and the company's size affect financial stability. In Indonesia, the role of corporate philanthropy has not been as decisive as in developed countries. Managerial implications show that the company's size impacts customer trust so that the company has better governance. In addition, companies also need to properly manage the problem of using debt. It is within the optimal point limit not to become a burden and risk to the company. Keywords: corporate philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, financial stability, firm size, leverage

Abstract

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) aims to increase the number of patients infected with the Covid-19 virus by 20% per day. This has disrupted the economic sector in all fields, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), one of which is the coffee shop business. This study aims to establish a Business Development Strategy to increase Coffee Shop sales in the aftermath of Covid-19. The types of data used in this study are primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from observations and interviews with five informants, namely Coffee Shop Int.Space Owners, Coffee Shop Int.Space Consumers, the Tourism Office in the Creative Economy Sector, Food & Beverage Consultants, and the health Office; as well as secondary data obtained from literature studies, the internet, and related institutions. This research data processing uses Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis to determine the Strengths and Weaknesses of Coffee Shop Int.Space and then determines the right business development strategy with the QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix). From this analysis, recommendations for the Coffee Shop Int.Space Development Strategy are obtained, namely increasing sales through alternative product development strategies. Abstract

The development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has experienced very rapid growth. On the other hand, the availability of Islamic human resources is not in accordance with the standards expected by Islamic banking. This is indicated by a large number of human resources graduates from public universities compared to graduates of Islamic banking or Islamic economics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that determine the success of Islamic HR in Islamic banking in North Sumatera. Data analysis was carried out using the ANP approach. The results of this study indicate that problems related to the determinants of the success of Islamic HR in North Sumatera internally are the most important internal performance appraisal and self-quality improvement in the form of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA). There are internal and external factors to improve Islamic human resources at sharia banking. From the internal factors, Sharia banking needs to develop a performance appraisal system from the perspective of Sharia compliance and financial risk. The Islamic bank employee recruitment system must also comply with sharia principles. In addition, it needs training and education by instilling sharia concepts. Finally, improving the quality of human resources through developing soft skills, increasing work motivation, sharia work ethic with the itqan. External factors are from universities in the form of curriculum and regulations from the government. The solution is to create a standard system for developing Islamic human resources and compile a curriculum that is in accordance with KSA. Abstract

Resources are considered a key driver of organizational performance. However, the means to improve performance through resources remains an issue that is yet to be conclusively addressed in both theoretical and practical terms. This study aims to examine the roles of competitive advantage and Islamic Label (IL) in the relationship between financial flexibility and the performance of companies listed on the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index (ISSI). Using a longitudinal approach covering the period 2012–2021 and observing 88 companies, a total of 880 observations were obtained for this study. The statistical technique used for the analysis was variance-based structural equation modeling utilizing partial least squares with the statistical tool of WarpPLS. The study revealed that competitive advantage is able to partially mediate the impact of financial flexibility on firm performance. Proxies of competitive advantage, such as receivable turnover and financial leverage, were found to be significant to all performance proxies, namely ROA, ROE, and Tobin’s Q. However, IL did not significantly enhance the link between financial flexibility and performance. It was found that the mediating impact of competitive advantage on the relationship between financial flexibility and performance indicated that improving performance through financial flexibility is indirect. Thus, contingency factors should be given due consideration in enhancing resource-based performance. For Islamic label companies, competitive advantage can be built to enhance performance by optimizing resource utilization. Abstract

The COVID-19 virus has become a worldwide pandemic, and studies of its impact on insurance are needed. This paper aims to look at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on insurance by using the number of claim cases from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan in Indonesia, which covers 34 provinces. This study uses a time series spanning 2018-2021 and cross-sectional data from 11 regional offices of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The analytical method used in this research is static panel method. The dependent variable in this study is the number of claims cases (Claim) while the independent variables used are Covid19, per capita GRDP, and per capita -savings. Empirical findings suggest that COVID-19 cases are associated with additional insurance claims. Compared to before the pandemic, COVID-19 caused an average increase in claim cases by 0.2587845 per cent. Although the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Program claims cases tend to increase every year, at the beginning of the pandemic, old-age security (JHT) and pension security (JP) programs were the most affected. Then in 2021, the death security (JKM), employment injury security (JKK), and pension security (JP) programs experienced the most significant increase in claim cases. Based on the results of the study, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan must prepare liquid funds to overcome the high number of claim cases during a pandemic such as the Covid-19 pandemic in the future. In addition, restrictions on community activities implemented by the government cause business processes to be developed digitally so that participants can carry out the claim process. Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, several companies increased their leverage to enhance their performance and ultimately impact the value of their firm. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between leverage and firm value as well as to examine the potential mediating role of firm performance, specifically return on equity and earnings per share. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) tool, with a sample of 687 companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2021 period. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling method. The findings indicate that leverage does not have a direct impact on firm value, but rather, the mediating role of return on equity is significant in this relationship. In contrast, earnings per share were found not mediate the relationship between leverage and firm value. This study provides an important contribution in the field of financial performance to managers and investors in making decisions. Limitations and suggestions for future research will be discussed. Abstract

In Indonesia, the number of vegetarians and vegetarian restaurants selling meat-free, plant-based alternatives, is growing. This is due to consumer encouragement and awareness of the benefits of eating healthier meals. There are, however, various more reasons why consumers should consume alternative meats. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of push and pull motivation on consumer loyalty by examining the subjective well-being of Indonesian vegetarian consumers who had ingested vegetable-based alternative meats. Quantitative research was conducted by delivering questionnaires online to 204 respondents. The study's findings indicate that both push and pull motivation have a positively significant influence on subjective well-being, with the push motivation component having a larger effect. Mood, that carries the highest loading factor value of 0.846, has the greatest influence on push motivation. Natural content, with a loading factor value of 0.808, is the dimension with the greatest influence on pull motivation. Loyalty is also significantly influenced by the two components of subjective well-being, perceived vitality, and affective well-being. The significance of this research is that it will serve as a reference for company management and marketers in developing a promotion strategy for plant-based meat products based on Indonesian vegetarian consumers.
