Abstract

This study determined the relationship between utilization of Collection Development Process and Building Library Collections in Federal University Libraries in North-Eastern Nigeria. The study was guided by Six objectives which were to determine the extent of utilization of collection development process and the relationship between utilization of community analysis, collection development policies, selection criteria, acquisition procedure, weeding as well as resource evaluation procedures and building library collection in libraries under study. To achieve these objectives six research questions developed and six null hypotheses were formulated and tested. It was hypothesized that, there is no significant relationship between the utilization of community analysis, selection policy, selection criteria, acquisition procedure, weeding procedure and resource evaluation procedure and Building Library collection in the libraries under study. The study was a correlational study and used correlational research design. The population for the study was made up of fifteen staff of the selected federal university libraries in the North-East Zone, Nigeria, working in the Collection Development Divisions. All the population were used for the study. The research instrument for this study was a self-designed questionnaire that was complemented with a checklist. A 4-point likert type scale questionnaire was used for data collection. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentage scores, and Pearson product Moment Correlation coefficient (PPMC) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The hypotheses tested revealed that, there was a significant relationship between utilization of community analysis, acquisition procedure and Building library collection in libraries under study. On the basis of the findings, conclusion drawn, recommendations were made for the improvement of utilization of collection development process in building library collections. The study recommends that the university libraries under study should increase partnership with the faculty to explore especially in the determination of materials to acquire; faculty members should be in a position to make valid judgment (selection) on relevance of tests to be included in the collection, hence their increased involvement in material selection will add to the richness of the library collection; a formalized comprehensive collection development policy should be developed and operated in the libraries studied, and the document should be reviewed periodically for up-to-datedness; weeding should be a periodic exercise in the libraries studied, so as to rid the shelves of irrelevant or unusable materials and increase access to usable ones; the libraries studied should create a Collection Department with a mandate to coordinate all collection development activities; of selection, acquisition, stock evaluation and weeding; collection development librarians should be trained and retrained in the process of building library collection in order to have an effective and efficient library collections.

Abstract

Knowing the bibliometric analysis of AI publications in the librarian system will be a great research opportunity because its development is very high. On the other hand, we can solve the convenience of current bibliometric analysis with bibliometric network applications, such as VOSViewer. However, the calculation is presented with two options, complete and fractional, for analysis. The bibliometric method is used to analyze the trend from time to time regarding AI in this library. The study uses Scopus to get data and VOSViewer to analyze, accompanied by trials with full and fractional methods. Through a restricted search of the past five years. AI has relevance to Librarianship Systems and trends in Digital Libraries. Then, it is found that there are differences in the calculation of the total and fractional methods that stand out in the bibliographic coupling approach. The development of AI in the librarian system is very high and is influenced by surrounding phenomena, while the choice of whole and fractional methods is not found to have absolute differences.

Abstract

A university library is an academic library whose inventory is based on the subjects offered by the university. This is open to external students, teachers, and researchers. The research conducted is about the information system in a University Library. This research aimed to obtain information about the success of an information system in a university library. The researcher carried out this task to identify the aspects that affect the success of the information system and can provide a recommendation that can overcome the weaknesses detected, as well as evaluate the success and shortcomings in the information system of a University Library. The research method used is qualitative. A qualitative approach is a technique used in research activities, namely by producing descriptive data. The research findings received in the implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation at the USAS Library are based on the six dimensions of the Delone McLean model, which are related to the success of the information system, namely system quality, information quality, service quality, use, user satisfaction, and net benefits.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the national library standard, especially the point of integration of the school library with the curriculum at SDIT At-Taqwa Surabaya, and the relationship between these standards and the satisfaction of the user community. This research is a qualitative method based on case studies. Data collection using observation, semi-structured interviews, and literature studies that take the subject from the SDIT At-Taqwa Library Surabaya. Researchers used purposive sampling to select informants with criteria relevant to the research objectives so that the librarian suitable became an informant. This finding explains that the eight points in integrating elementary school libraries with the curriculum based on SNP 10:2017, are half relevant to the existing standard. Meanwhile, the other four points still do not conform with the current standards because several reasons influence them. Future research is expected to be able to review aspects of elementary school library integration with the curriculum in the National Library Standards for the coming year and its relationship to user community satisfaction.

Abstract

While many researchers have investigated the adoption and use of information systems in academic libraries, one section has not been thoroughly researched, particularly in public libraries that have adopted the use of information systems. Now public libraries have started to use or subscribe to any existing information system in line with the needs of the local community. The purpose of this paper is to identify and obtain information regarding the suitability or achievement of information system services used in public libraries using the Delone and Mclean information system success model. The method of data collection is to use an online survey questionnaire to obtain primary sources from the general public around. The findings of the investigation showed that the system quality, information quality, service quality, usage, user satisfaction and net benefits showed significantly good and satisfactory results and this further indicated that the information system service in public libraries was achieved. The results can help librarians to improve the information systems used so that their information system services can be improved to the maximum stage.

Abstract

Library research is research conducted by using libraries, such as books, notes, or reports on past research results. A qualitative causality study was conducted as part of the study. The aim is to obtain information about the criteria for librarians and head of librarianship, obtain feedback on the satisfaction of library users, identify problems faced by users with the collections or infrastructure provided by the library, and identify collections of library materials that are frequently used by users. The reason is to fulfill one of the project assignments for the Monitoring and Evaluation course. The research method used is qualitative. by using an instrument technique or an online questionnaire form. This is because the researcher does not have time to go to the desired place of observation other than to do various things. Researchers will collect participants according to the respondent's subject specified in the previous report, especially to the librarian in collecting data. The research place that is the focus of research is the university library. Participant observation and field research are examples of ethnographic techniques that can be used. As a result, the authors were able to obtain data and information from the head of the library and librarian, in addition to drawing conclusions about problems and solutions from the data collected, and finally getting information about the satisfaction of users who have used the library using the EUCS model.
