Abstract

Online narratives play a strategic role in shaping collective identity in the digital era. This study examines how Tular Nalar e-flyers produced by MAFINDO, through the integration of local-language taglines, influence identity construction, social solidarity, and collective action. A qualitative approach was employed to analyze 10 e-flyers, representing visual and textual elements, from the final phase of Tular Nalar training (October–December 2024). The analysis focuses on how culturally grounded messages foster emotional connection, enhance audience engagement, and help counter misinformation. The findings indicate that culturally relevant digital narratives not only promote the dissemination of accurate information but also strengthen public participation in social movements. Furthermore, consistent and context-sensitive narratives play a significant role in building trust and social cohesion in digital spaces.

Abstract

The transformation of public officials’ communication via YouTube has intensified information disintermediation. This study examines the communication practices of Dedi Mulyadi, who conveys public information directly, bypassing conventional media channels. The urgency of this research stems from the critical need for regulatory frameworks governing YouTube usage, as official disintermediation exacerbates the economic strain on local television. The novelty of this study lies in its identification of regulatory lacunae regarding the digital activities of public officials and their subsequent implications for the viability of local broadcasters. Employing a qualitative, descriptive methodology, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders across the media, regulatory bodies, government, and academia. The findings reveal that such disintermediation fosters regulatory asymmetry, positioning YouTube as a ‘pseudo-media’ entity exempt from the social and ethical mandates imposed on local television. Consequently, this research proposes a platform-neutral, impact-based reconstruction of broadcasting regulations. It extends the gatekeeping theory within the digital ecosystem and provides a strategic policy foundation for regulators to integrate public accountability standards into officials’ official YouTube accounts, thereby ensuring a balanced local media landscape.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the dynamics of public communication, with social media becoming a primary platform for government criticism. The controversy surrounding the release of Indonesia’s 2024 poverty data by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) sparked a negative response, challenging the legitimacy of public institutions. In this context, accurate, real-time monitoring of public sentiment is crucial for supporting crisis communication responses. However, comparative studies on the reliability of free AI-based sentiment analysis tools in the public sector are still limited. This study evaluates the effectiveness of ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Parabola.io in building an early warning system for crisis communication. A quantitative-descriptive approach was used to analyze 351 comments from the Instagram account @bps_statistics related to the release of poverty data. The results showed that DeepSeek (82.93%) and Parabola.io (82.62%) had higher accuracy than ChatGPT (40.24%). These findings underscore the importance of AI reliability in diagnosing crises early in the issue cycle. Theoretically, this study develops a crisis communication framework by integrating sentiment analysis and the issue cycle. Practically, this research emphasizes the need to consider accuracy, bias, cultural context, and human oversight in the use of AI.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technology has transformed patterns of communication, social interaction, and the dynamics of society, creating a need for adaptability known as digital resilience. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to identify research trends, identify clusters or themes in scientific publications on digital resilience, and explore potential research gaps in this field. A bibliometric approach was employed to provide a systematic mapping that can serve as a foundation for future research development. The data sources for this study were obtained from Google Scholar and ScienceDirect using the keywords “digital resilience” and “online resilience,” and were analyzed using VOSViewer. A total of 870 scientific publications were collected from the years 2020–2025. The findings indicate a year-over-year increase in scientific publications on digital resilience over the past five years. Additionally, there has been an increase in publications using keywords such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, mental health, and social media, indicating that digital resilience research is multidimensional. This study is expected to contribute to mapping trends and advancing future research related to digital resilience
