Abstract

Efforts to increase productivity of food crops, especially rice by using technology and innovation has been facing problems such as structure of the control and management of agricultural resources. This study aimed to identify the factors of farmer’s structural and managerial characteristics that affect paddy farming efficiency in Sleman. Survey conducted on wetland rice farmers in rural and sub urban areas that represent the condition of the structural and manjerial characteristics that  owned by farmers in Sleman. Analysis of stochastic frontier production function with the inclusion of the inefficiency effects model was conducted to identify determinants of production and the factors that affect the efficiency of farming. The result showed that the structural characteristics that influence the rice farming efficiency are the water irrigation source distance and the farm location, while the managerial characteristics factors are age, income outside the farm, participation in a group, experience and access to credit.

Abstract

The mismatch between the availability of vegetables and consumer demand is one of the causes of inefficient supply chains. This study aims to analyze the bullwhip effect on the organic leaf vegetable supply chain at PT Simply Fresh Organic (SFO). The analysis method used is a comparison between the coefficient of variation of orders created with the coefficient of variation in requests received by each supply chain institution. The data used are secondary data obtained from PT SFO. The measurement results show that the supply chain flow of organic leaf vegetables had a bullwhip effect at the PT SFO level and no bullwhip effect occurs at the retail level. The value of the BE supply chain value calculation at PT SFO shows a higher figure than at the retail level. The bullwhip effect at PT SFO occurred because of a rationing and shortage gaming policy. Therefore, each member of the supply chain must maintain transparency of data information and utilize digital technology to improve the accuracy of data forecasting requests and reservations quickly.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyse the level of technical efficiency and the factors influencing technical efficiency of a potato farming in North Dempo, sub-district Pagar Alam City, South Sumatera Province using 51 farmers who are censused. Frontier production function, estimated using the MLE method, is used to determine the level of technical efficiency. Meanwhile, multiple regression estimated using OLS approach is used to determine factors influencing technical efficiency level. The research showed that, land area, seed, organic fertilizer, ZA fertilizer, Ponska fertilizer, and fungiside were significantly affect potato production. The research finds that the level of technical efficiency of potato farming was, on the average, 81.336 percent. The research also shows that the intensity of extension and farmers’ experience affect significantly and negatively technical inefficiency while formal education, age, and land ownership status do not.
