Abstract

This study aims to analyze feasibility of agarwood tea business, to describe marketing strategies of agarwood tea, and to analyze the business development strategy of agarwood tea "Aqilla" Gapoktan Alam Jaya Lestari in Lubuk Pabrik Village, Central Bangka Regency. The method used was a case study. Research shows that agarwood tea business conducted by Gapoktan Alam Jaya Lestari is feasible with a value of NPV Rp. 585,122,261; Net B/C worth 3.6, and IRR worth 40.73%, and the payback period for 4 years and 11 months 8 days. Market penetration strategy used by Gapoktan Alam Jaya Lestari is slow penetration strategy. Agarwood Tea business development strategies that should be done is an aggressive strategy (Growth Oriented Strategy) by improving service, expanding the marketing network, improving the quality and quantity of agarwood tea, adding a variety of flavors, obtaining additional capital, and receiving guidance and assistance from the local government.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the existing conditions and to identify need of assesements for Sub Terminal Agribisnis (STA) Tempel in Sleman Regency. Data were collected through direct observation, focus group discussion (FGD) and study documents from related institutions. The existing conditions of STA Tempel was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, while need of assessment for STA Tempel was analyzed by SWOT. The results showed that STA Tempel has not been able to perform the function properly. To improve the performance, STA Tempel must increase function of marketing of agricultural commodities; integrate with other trading activities; develop promotion; optimize of human resource functions; build modern facilities and infrastructures; and optimize the role of STA as a training and education center.

Abstract

This study was conducted in Nganjuk Regency in the reason that this region is the second largest shallot production centre in Indonesia after Brebes Regency. Around 40 percent of shallot from Nganjuk are marketed to Jakarta including Kramatjati Central Market of Jakarta (KCMJ), therefore this study aims to determine actor of the shallot supply chain from Nganjuk to Jakarta and identify the type of risk in the shallot supply chain. The respondents were expert from goverment representatives , academician, and actors of the shallot supply chain. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model was used to identify risk of the shallot supply chain. The result showed that there were seven actors involved in the shallot supply chain from Nganjuk to Jakarta, namely farmer, buyer, wholeseller, bandar, centheng, retailer, and consumer. The AHP model showed that risk of market was the main risk in the shallot supply chain from Nganjuk to Jakarta, following by risk of partnerships and information, and price risk.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the income of shallot farmers, to determine the risk of shallot production, and to examine the level of efficiency of shallot farmers in Bantul Regency. The primary data used in the study was obtained using structured questionnaire administered to 30 selected farmers. R/C ratio, coefficient of variation, and stochastic frontier production function were used to analyze the data. The result showed that shallot farming in Bantul Regency was profitable with incomes of Rp20,903,711/ha. The level of risks faced by farmers were quite high, it was 7.27%. The average level of technical, allocative and economical efficiency of shallot farmers were: 0.802; 0.889; and 0.929. This result shows that shallot farmers can increase their technical efficiency and allocative efficiency to achieve an economic efficient condition.

Abstract

The black rice farming is potential to be developed in Indonesia for several reasons, for instance it is a rare local varieties, has many health benefit, high value, and feaseable to be developed based on farming analysis. Magelang regency is a region that has original varieties of black rice. The development of black rice farming was supported by Association of Sawangan Organic Farmers. This study applied internal and external environment analysis and formulated strategy using SWOT analysis, and then the priority strategy was chosen by weighting it based on SWOT analysis framework (A’WOT). Result showed that certified organic product was the most important factor on strength while the decreasing number of black rice farmer was the weakness. Furthermore, increasing people awareness on healty food was the opportunity and the threat was black rice has not been widely known in public. The priority alternative strategy that can be applied by Association of Sawangan Organic Farmers to develop black rice farming is to build a sustainable business partner.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide an explanation of agrotourism development model, based on local wisdom. In the first year, the study aims to determine the impact of agrotourism development on increasing value-added agricultural products, farmers income level and distribution of farmers’ income. Research carried out by survey and interviews with farmers and stakeholders as well as field observation. The result shows that the development of agrotourism can encourage farmers to do the processing of agricultural products and improve farming management both on-farm and off-farm, which in turn can increase the income of farm households significantly. The study recommends to optimize the processing of agricultural products and improve farming management both on-farm and off-farm.

Abstract

During 2011-2016, there was a decreasing trend of warehouse receipt sistem (WRS) transactions in Bantul regency and the participants of the WRS came from a small part of the districts.  This condition indicated that there was an unfulfilled  prerequisites for success of the WRS.  This study aims to identify the role of stakeholders in the implementation of WRS and evaluate the prerequisites for success of WRS in Bantul regency. The research was conducted by in-depth interviews to stakeholders of the WRS. Data analysis was done using descriptive method. The result showed that stakeholders that have a big role in increasing warehouse receipts transactions were warehouse manager and department of trade. The increasing of production was a prerequisite that reinforces the existence of WRS in Bantul regency.  The success of the WRS were depends on two prerequisite of the commitment of local government and education and socialization to farmers. These findings indicate the need for the local governments to supports programs related to WRS and to intensify the dissemination of WRS to farmers in potential villages.

Abstract

Emping melinjo was one of the agroindustry-products that had great potential to be developed. The industry of emping melinjo contributed more on economic growth in the reason of creating jobs and alleviate poverty. The purpose of this study was to describe the performance of supply chain of emping melinjo from upstream to downstream and analyze the efficiency of supply chain of emping melinjo in Bantul regency. Field study to obtain primary data was done through interviews with the practitioners of emping melinjo supply chain (including farmers and merchants of melinjo as well as producers and retailers of melinjo chips). The results of field studies then tabulated and analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using Linear Programming. The analysis showed that there were 37 supply chain networks of emping melinjo in Bantul. The practitioners of upstream supply chain were melinjo farmers, middlemen, traders, wholesalers, and retailers, while in the downstream, were emping melinjo producers, traders, small traders, wholesalers, retailers and consumers. The activities of the doer of emping melinjo supply chain includes purchasing, sales, harvesting, packaging, packing, stripping, storage, loading and unloading, transporting, sorting and grading. The flow of products and money in the supply chain of emping melinjo run smoothly, while the flow of information was sluggish. Based on linear programming analysis the cost of supply chain of emping melinjo would reach minimum level at Rp33,969,264 per week if the production of emping melinjo as many as 25 361 kg per week wich was distributed using 22 networks.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the relationship of personal characteristics on the entrepreneurial behavior and factors affecting the business performance of prawn crackers women entrepreneurs in Jambi Province. This study was conducted using a survey in two regencies in the Jambi Province. The method of analysis used in the study is Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The results shows i) training, business experience, education, and family background positively significant affect to the entrepreneurial behavior (including motivation, innovation and risk taking decision); ii) business performance is influenced by personal characteristics, entrepreneurial behavior, internal environment and the external environment. Personal characteristic of women entrepreneur on prawn crackers business in Jambi Province is the most influence factor on woman business performance.

Abstract

Organic vegetable products tend to have higher prices compare to non organic, therefore most consumers think organic vegetable products are expensive products. This research aims to determine consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for organic vegetable product and influencing factors towards WTP. This research was conducted in 6 modern market in South Jakarta by interviewing 100 consumers who were selected using quota sampling technique. Data were analyzed using contingent valuation method (CVM) to determine the average value of consumers’ WTP and logistic regression employed to determine the factors that influence WTP. The results showed that 82% consumers are willing to pay higher prices to buy organic vegetables products, with additional range between 8.5% to 15% from the real price. Factors that significantly influenced consumers’ willingness to pay were education level, monthly income and product quality.
