Abstract

Economic inequality remains a pressing issue in Indonesia, particularly between urban and rural communities. This study explores the potential of Islamic economics as an alternative system to promote justice and social welfare. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through library research, the analysis draws on scholarly literature and institutional reports to examine key principles and instruments of Islamic economics. Findings indicate that mechanisms such as zakat, infaq, and waqf contribute significantly to wealth redistribution and poverty alleviation. Despite these benefits, implementation faces challenges including low public literacy, regulatory inconsistencies, and the dominance of conventional financial practices within Islamic institutions. The study underscores the need for collaboration among government, financial institutions, and civil society to enhance education, reform policies, and innovate Islamic financial instruments. While Islamic economics offers a promising integration of spiritual and material welfare, its success depends on systemic support and stakeholder synergy. Future research should incorporate empirical field studies to validate these findings

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of political leadership and work culture on the performance of employees at the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD Secretariat. The research approach used was quantitative with multiple linear regression. The study population included all employees at the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD Secretariat, with a sample size of 74 respondents obtained through saturated sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, while data analysis was performed using SPSS. The results showed that political leadership had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, meaning that the more effective the political leadership, the higher the employee performance. Meanwhile, work culture had a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance, thus concluding that work culture values have not been fully and consistently implemented by all employees. Simultaneously, political leadership and work culture had a significant effect on employee performance, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.150, indicating that these two variables explain 15% of the variation in employee performance, with the remainder influenced by factors outside this study. This finding emphasizes the importance of strengthening participatory political leadership and establishing a professional and integrity-based work culture to improve employee performance within the Bengkulu Provincial DPRD Secretariat.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of the development of road infrastructure, education infrastructure, health infrastructure, clean water and electricity on poverty rates on the island of Sumatra, both simultaneously and partially. This research uses quantitative methods in the form of multiple regression analysis with panel data. This type of research is explanatory research, namely testing the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable. In this research the data used is secondary data. The data used was obtained from the Badan Pusat Statistik and Kementerian PUPR which includes: data on the percentage of poor people, data on the percentage of roads in a stable condition, data on the ratio of the number of schools per number of students, data on the number of hospitals, data on the ratio of the amount of clean water distributed per number of residents, and data ratio of the amount of electricity distributed per population on the island of Sumatra for the 2014-2022 period. This research uses a random effect model approach analysis. The research results show that simultaneously and partially road infrastructure, education, health, clean water and electricity have an effect on poverty. This shows that, if there is an increase in each infrastructure variable, it can reduce the percentage of poor people on the island of Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the budget performance efficiency of 21 State Treasury Service Offices (KPPN) in the Kalimantan Region for the 2023-2024 period using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method with the Variable Returns to Scale (VRS) approach. Input variables include operational expenditures, the number of technical employees, and supporting employees, while output variables include the percentage of SPM processed into SP2D, the IKPA value of BUN Authorization, the timeliness of TKD document submission, and the number of HAI-CSO services. The results show that not all KPPNs achieve full efficiency, with the input-oriented approach indicating potential resource savings, while the output-oriented approach emphasizes improving service quality. KPPNs in Pangkalan Bun, Pelaihari, Palangkaraya, and Tanjung Redep are consistently efficient across both approaches. These findings underscore the importance of proportional human resource redistribution, operational budget optimization, and strengthening performance-based monitoring systems to improve the efficiency of treasury services in Kalimantan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of gross domestic product, urbanization, foreign direct investment, and human development index on carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions in five emerging ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam) during 2018–2023. The study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. Model selection through Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange multiplier tests shows that the random effect model (REM) is the best. Data are sourced from Our World in Data and ASEAN Statistics. The results show that CO₂ emissions have an inverted U-shaped curve. Furthermore, GDP and FDI have a positive and significant effect on CO₂ emissions, indicating that economic activity and investment still depend on fossil fuels. Urbanization has a negative and significant effect, showing that good urban management can reduce emissions. Meanwhile, HDI has a negative but insignificant effect on CO₂.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between fish consumption patterns and stunting in toddlers in Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The study design uses a cross-sectional approach with cluster sampling techniques in two areas with the highest (Patuk 1) and lowest (Purwosari) prevalence of stunting. The total sample consisted of 309 toddlers aged 6–59 months, comprising 201 respondents in Patuk 1 and 108 in Purwosari. Independent variables included fish consumption frequency, portion size, fish type, and sociodemographic factors such as family income, maternal education, number of children, infectious diseases, sanitation, and area of residence. Data analysis was performed using logistic regression with Stata 14 software to identify factors significantly associated with stunting. The results showed that fish type was significantly associated with stunting, while frequency and portion size of consumption were not significantly associated. Other factors significantly associated with stunting were the mother's education level, number of children, and history of infectious diseases. Meanwhile, income, area of residence, and sanitation did not show a significant relationship. These findings confirm that the quality of fish consumed by toddlers has a greater impact on the risk of stunting than the frequency or portion size of consumption. Maternal education and child health are key protective factors. The results of this study are expected to form the basis for policies to increase consumption of nutritious fish and family nutrition education as strategies for preventing stunting based on local foods
