Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety is one of the most prevalent psychological problems among adolescents, particularly high school students who are in a critical developmental phase toward adulthood. If not properly managed, anxiety can negatively affect psychological well-being, academic performance, and social functioning. Poor self-management skills contribute to heightened anxiety levels, highlighting the need for effective, engaging, and easily accessible educational interventions. Motion graphics, as an interactive visual medium, have demonstrated potential in enhancing engagement and improving the effectiveness of psychoeducational interventions among adolescents. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effect of self-management–based motion graphic videos on anxiety levels among high school students and to evaluate the role of demographic factors in intervention outcomes. Methods: A quasi-experimental quantitative design was employed. From a population of 274 students identified with moderate anxiety levels, 128 students were selected using proportional random sampling and assigned to an intervention group (n = 64) or a control group (n = 64). The intervention group received a motion graphic–based self-management video, while the control group received conventional health education. Anxiety levels were measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and ANCOVA. Results: The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety scores from pre-test (Mean ± SD = 51.7 ± 3.22) to post-test (Mean ± SD = 47.2 ± 3.54; p 0.005). ANCOVA results showed that age had a significant effect on post-test anxiety levels (p 0.05), whereas gender, parental education, and parental occupation did not show significant effects. Conclusion: Motion graphic–based self-management interventions are effective in reducing anxiety among adolescents. These findings support the integration of visually engaging, theory-based digital media into school-based mental health promotion and counseling programs.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: The risk of violent behavior is a vulnerability to behavior that shows the potential for physical and emotional harm to oneself, others, and the environment. Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) is a therapy that uses simple finger tapping on specific meridian points of the body to help solve physical and psychological problems. This therapy combines psychological energy with spiritual strength, so that SEFT, in addition to being a healing technique, also automatically leads a person into a spiritual realm that connects them to their God. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of SEFT on the signs and symptoms of the risk of violent behavior in the Women's PHCU Unit. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design. The study used 17 samples in the intervention group and 17 samples in the control group. This study used Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale - Excited Component (PANSS – EC) to assess signs and symptoms of risk of violent behavior. Result: The results showed a p-value of 0.000 (0.05), indicating that SEFT had an effect on the signs and symptoms of patients at risk of violent behavior. Conclusion: SEFT is very beneficial for reducing the signs and symptoms of patients at risk of violent behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Nicotine is known to influence appetite suppression and energy expenditure, potentially contributing to the lower body mass index (BMI) observed among smokers. However, the short-term metabolic impact of switching from combustible cigarettes to electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) remains uncertain. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of transitioning from conventional cigarettes to e-cigarettes on BMI among young adult male smokers over a three-month period. Method: A prospective cohort study was conducted involving 47 male smokers aged 20–40 years. Participants were allocated into two groups: those who switched to e-cigarettes (n = 30) and those who continued smoking conventional cigarettes (n = 17). BMI was assessed at baseline and after three months. Data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests to evaluate intra- and intergroup differences. Result: In the e-cigarette group, BMI slightly declined from 24.16 ± 4.42 to 24.06 ± 4.59 kg/m² (Δ = –0.11 ± 0.63, p = 0.379), whereas in the conventional group, BMI increased marginally from 22.54 ± 3.63 to 22.63 ± 3.63 kg/m² (Δ = +0.09 ± 0.52, p = 0.486). The between-group difference in BMI change was not statistically significant (p = 0.289). Conclusion: Short-term transition to e-cigarette use did not result in significant changes in BMI among young adult male smokers. These findings suggest that e-cigarettes are metabolically neutral over short durations and should not be regarded as effective tools for weight control. Further longitudinal studies are warranted to explore longer-term metabolic outcomes.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension remains a leading global risk factor for morbidity and mortality, with family support playing a critical role in adherence to lifestyle modifications and treatment. Digital health interventions offer scalable solutions to improve disease management, yet limited studies have explicitly integrated and evaluated family engagement as a core component. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of interactive multimedia modules in enhancing family support, blood pressure control, and health-related quality of life among hypertensive adults compared with usual care. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with repeated measures was conducted among 200 adults with hypertension and their primary family caregivers recruited from outpatient clinics. Participants were assigned to either the intervention group (n = 100), which received interactive multimedia modules delivered via a mobile platform, or the control group (n = 100), which received standard clinic-based education. Outcomes included family support (Hypertension Self-Care Activity Level Effects–adapted questionnaire), blood pressure (validated digital sphygmomanometer), and quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF). Measurements were obtained at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and 12-week follow-up. Data were analyzed using two-way repeated measures ANOVA.Results: At baseline, no significant differences were observed between groups in sociodemographic or clinical characteristics (p .05). Over time, significant time × group interaction effects were observed for family support (F[2, 396] = 48.72, p .001, partial η² = 0.20), systolic blood pressure (F[2, 396] = 61.45, p .001, partial η² = 0.24), diastolic blood pressure (F[2, 396] = 52.13, p .001, partial η² = 0.21), and overall quality of life (F[2, 396] = 39.74, p .001, partial η² = 0.17). Participants in the intervention group demonstrated greater improvements in family support, clinically meaningful reductions in blood pressure, and significant increases in quality of life scores compared with the control group. Qualitative feedback confirmed high acceptability and usability of the modules. Conclusion: Interactive multimedia modules delivered via digital health platforms significantly improved family support, blood pressure control, and quality of life among hypertensive adults. Incorporating family caregivers into digital self-management interventions provides a scalable and sustainable strategy for enhancing hypertension outcomes. Further studies should evaluate long-term impacts, cost-effectiveness, and integration into primary care systems.
