Abstract

Premature loss of primary teeth is a condition where primary teeth are lost before the replacement teeth approach eruption due to caries, trauma and systemic conditions. Premature date can lead to a reduction in the length of the dental arch and migration of the opposing teeth leading to rotation, crowding and impaction of the permanent teeth. The purpose of the study: to describe the incidence picture of early loss of primary first molar teeth in 6-9 year old children in dental hospital of Jember University. The type of research carried out in this study was descriptive observational with a cross sectional approach. The research data showed that there were 42 medical records of pediatric patients aged 6-9 years. There are 5 medical records for patients aged 6 years, 15 data for medical colleagues for patients aged 7 years, 16 medical records for patients aged 8 years, and 6 medical records for patients aged 9 years. The percentage incidence of premature date of the maxillary right primary first molar was 11.9%, the premature date of the maxillary left first molar was 9.5%, while the mandibular left first primary molar had a premature date of 7.1%, and in the premature date of the mandibular right primary first molar was 19.05%. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the incidence of premature first molar dates in children aged 6-9 years at RSGM UNEJ in 2020 is most commonly found in the mandibular right first molar at 19.05%

Abstract

Background : The Clean and Healthy Behavior Movement is a benchmark in health development in order to improve people's behavior. The achievement of PHBS indicators in Central Java in 2015 was 76.73%. This makes Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) a special concern for the government, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic. Instilling PHBS behavior in children is very important, because children's low knowledge of PHBS will affect their low body health status. Parents have a very important role in assisting children to study at home during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in applying knowledge about clean and healthy living behavior.Research Objectives: This research is to produce learning media at home for pre-school children through activity books and analysis of their effectiveness on the formation of Healthy Clean Living Behaviors.Research Methods: Research and Development (RD), there are ten stages, namely: potential problems, data collection, product design, expert validation, revisions, product trials, usage trials (quasi-experimental with pre-test and post test design), a sample of 30 children. The treatment was carried out for 14 days, measurements were carried out pre-experimentally, after 7 days, and after 14 days. The data were tested using freadmen followed by a post hoc wilcoxon test. Results: The average knowledge about clean and healthy living behavior (hand washing, nail hygiene, dressing hygiene, dental hygiene, hair hygiene, environmental hygiene) before giving the activity book was 32.5 then after the twelfth week. -1 to 74.5 knowledge is increasing in the 2nd week of 92.99. Based on the results of statistical tests, this Activity Book has an effect on the formation of healthy clean living behavior indicated by the p value 0.001Conclusion : Activity Book is effective as an effort to establish Healthy Clean Living Behavior in pre-school children.

Abstract

Childrens with Autism have difficulty to clean their oral cavity because less of ability in motor skills. Case reports show that the average autistic child has dental caries and periodontal disease due to the inability to brush their teeth properly. Autistic children spend a lot of time with their families so that the role of families, especially parents, is very important in the development of children with autism. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of brush teeth video counseling to improve brushing teeth skill in parents of autistic children at SLB 2 Provinsi Jambi. Study design is a quasi experimental study. The independent variable was the video counsellling of brushing teeth and the dependent variable was the parent’s ability of brushing teeth. The Sample in this study were parents of autistic children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The average age of the respondents was 41 years (CI: 38 - 44). Wilcoxon test showed p value 0, 0001 (0.05) means significant difference of brushing skills between treatment group and control group. Mann Whitney showed p value 0.0042 (0.05), means significant difference between before and after intervention in the treatment group. Providing education on brushing skills to children with autism cannot be done instantly, it is necessary for the role of parents in teaching tooth brushing skills to be carried out continuously until children can brush their teeth independently. There is an improvement in brushing skills in parents of autistic children through counseling using videos on how to brush teeth.

Abstract

Dental caries is still a priority for children's health problems, the prevalence of dental caries in children aged 3-4 years in West Kalimantan is 49.83% in 2018. Dental caries in children who are not treated can cause chewing disorders which result in growth disorders. Lack of maternal knowledge about how to care for teeth is one of the causes of dental caries in children. Mother's knowledge about how to care for teeth can be obtained from counseling and communication media. The development of communication media tools such as cellphones, smartphones, and iPhones makes it easier for people to access information including information about health. During the Covid-19 pandemic, face-to-face counseling activities were not possible due to health protocols, therefore counseling using applications is a solution in conveying messages to the public, especially about how to care for children's teeth. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of android-based counseling called the ABDI application on maternal knowledge in caring for children's teeth. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and postest control design. The population in this study were pregnant women and mothers under five at the Puskesmas UPTD West Pontianak. As samples were 76 pregnant women and mothers under five who visited the Puskesmas UPTD West Pontianak in June 2020. Data analysis used T-test to determine differences in maternal knowledge before and after using the ABDHI application. The results of the univariate analysis showed that there was an increase in the knowledge score of 14.5 after counseling using the ABDHI application, this increase was greater than the control group of 8.7. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after counseling using the ABDHI application with a value of p = 0.00 and there was a difference in knowledge between the experimental group and the control group with a value of p = 0.001. Keywords: ABDHI application, Mother's knowledge

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACTEmergency conditions of ingestion of foreign objects in dental practice may occur, one of which is ingestion of burs. Most of the cases, the foreign object passes through the digestive tract without difficulty, but some may require surgery. Immediate removal of the object may be necessary because long-term retention leads to complications and even death. Case: 21 years old man underwent dental procedures, a few minutes after preparation, the bur came off and then swallowed. The patient is referred to the radiology and nutrition department, given laxatives, electrolyte fluids, high-fiber foods, multiply water. The bur is eliminated from the body after 4 days. Conclusion: Dentists and dental therapist should have the skills in emergency management of bur ingestion. Things that need to be considered to prevent the emergency are pre-action preparation (area isolation and double cek of theinstruments), effective communication between patient doctors (delivering instructions in case of an emergency), informed consent, good coordination and preparedness between medical staff include radiology, nutrition, and nurses. Sebagian besar kasus, benda asing melewati saluran pencernaan tanpa kesulitan, tetapi beberapa mungkin memerlukan pembedahan.
