TITLEThe relationship between concentration of mangosteen water stew as gargle and pH salivaABSTRACTCaries prevalence of people is 72.1%, with active caries prevalence of 46.5%. The incidence of dental caries due to the activity of microorganisms that leaven carbohydrates (substrate) to form acids that condition oral pH decreased to below 5. In order to maintain the pH of saliva can be done with traditional medicine, one of the mangosteen fruit. In the mangosteen fruit there is the content of alpha-mangostin and gamma-mangostin, which works as an anti-microbial. The study aims to determine the relationship between the concentration of the solution in boiling water to rinse the mangosteen fruit with changes in salivary pH.This type of research is a quasy experimental, with a design pretest-posttest design experiment. The subject of research conducted on the population that met the inclusion criteriawhich have no more than two carious tooth element and does not have gingivitis. The data analysis method is descriptive quantitative and correlation with Chi Square test.The results showed pH saliva in concentrations of 50%, before rinsing average salivary pH of 7.12 to 7.6. At a concentration of 75%, initial salivary pH was 7.2 and then changed to 8.0. Salivary pH changes after rinsing into acids derived from a concentration of 50%, whereas the increase tend to base is obtained from the concentration of 75%. The test results with the Chi square statistic obtained p.value = 0,142, and the interpretation was no relationship of the use of boiled water concentration of mangosteen to changes in salivary pH. Suggestions research results as a reference for the development of further research by conducting a more varied concentration of the solution formula to determine the right dose. TITLEThe influence of traditional drama as the motivation of self-care of oral and dental health in childrenABSTRACTThe caries rate among primary school-aged children is still high. Based on Riskesdas (Riset Kesehatan Dasar / Base Health Research) in 2013, children with ages from 10-14 years old with dental and mouth health problems reach 25,2%. It takes a genuine and concerted effort from all parties to promote oral hygiene at the age of the children, such as by growing a self-maintained motivation. This study aims to generate a motivation in children with cultural arts approach based on local wisdom, the art of traditional drama.This research is descriptive, which is a research method that was conducted with the aim to create a picture or description of the problem in the case of motivation self-care subjectively. This motivational factor will be assessed using the “Yes-No” questionnaire. For positive questions, each “Yes” answer will be given a “5” score and the “No” answer will be given “0” score. The opposite, for negative questions, each “Yes” answer will be given a “0” score and the “No” answer will be given a “5” score. The population is 72 children grade 3,4, and 5.The result of the research showed that the motivation after being treated with traditional drama was a significant change with an average of 85.69. The number is much higher when compared with the motivation before treatment is given with an average of 48.47. Traditional drama intervention can be used as an alternative media for health education implementation because based on the results of the above research can improve the motivation change. TITLEDental nursing care in diabetes mellitus patients (case report)ABSTRACTTo determine dental and oral health care, operators must be able to recognize the symptoms and signs possibility patients suffer systemic disease should be detected as these influence oral hygiene condition. Patients who often visit dental clinic are patients with diabetes mellitus. It is important for operator to know dental management of patients with diabetes melitus therefore diagnosis and treatment can be drawn as needed. Operator also can contribute dental health care and improve quality life of patients diabetes melitus by improving oral hygiene management and complication prevention. Purpose of this report to identify and understand dental and oral health care based on human need with behavior management for dental disease prevention.A diabetes melitus patient with caries occlusal 16 with diagnosis caries reach pulp visit dental clinic. Dental and oral health care to restore tooth shape and function, prevent further caries and reduce pain. Treatment for the patient was dental prophylaxis, dental health education and referral for root canal treatment. Evaluation need to be done regularly.Dental and oral health care are expected to be systematically so that the management of patients with diabetes mellitus can be continue. Dental management patient with diabetes melitus need good communication, laboratorium test and knowledge of operator about diabetes melitus including the effect of dental care, therefore diabetic patient can undergo dental care safety. TITLEThe association of knowledge and dental nurse attitudes with therapeutic-communication application in dental clinic of Puskesmas Kapubaten AgamABSTRACTOne of the competence standards of dental nurses is able to conduct a therapeutic communication at the dental health service with their clients; among the communicated matters are describing the activities that will be conducted, giving the clients the chances to ask, planning the follow-ups, and conducting contracts of the next dental care. This research has the objective of analyzing the factors influencing dental nurses in implementing the therapeutic communication at the Dental Service Division of the Public Health Center of Agam Regency.This research was an explanatory research, with survey as the research method, using the cross-sectional approach. The research samples were all dental nurses working at the Public Health Center of Agam Regency, as many as 41 people. Data were collected by direct interviews using a structured questionnaire.The research results showed that the implementation of therapeutic communication at the Dental Service Division of the Public Health Center of Agam Regency was still inadequate (63.4%). Variables that were significantly related to the dependent variable is the attitude variables (p. Value 0.008), whereas knowledge of dental nurses did not reveal any significant association with the application of therapeutic communication (p. Value 0.743). TITLEInfluence of biography characteristic to UKGS III coverage by dental nurse in Semarang DistrictABSTRACTIn order to realize the development of health, one of which strived through the improvement of health care facilities. Health care facilities that are directly related to the community health center. Of its services by the health center, including prevention services via UKGS. UKGS coverage is still low, with the average number of new coaching first time visit to the elementary school in one year. This situation is still below the target of 2 times per year. Coverage SD UKGS fostered selective (stage III) reached 19.7%, still below the target of 30% of the elementary schools should be doing UKGS selective (stage III). The purpose of the study to know the effect of the characteristics of a biography of UKGS III coverage by the dental nurse inSemarangdistrict.Research carried out by the non-experimental design, the category of the type of quantitative research is descriptive and explanatory study. Subjects were the entire dental nurses working in health centers inSemarangdistrict as many as 35 people. Data analysis will be performed using univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyzes. Bivariate analysis done by correlation testChi Squarewith a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Ha accepted if the p value 0.05. Test the effect by using multiple logistic regression multivariate analysis with α = 0.05.The results of research on the scope UKGS III dental nurse in coaching UKBM, UKGS coverage either category III (51.4%), older age group of 19 people (54.3%), educational background dental nurse was found with SPRG categories (26, 7%). state of the working period at most dental nurse working group long term (14-28 years) of 54.3%. Results of correlation tests performed withChi Squarethere is one variable that is related: education p value = 0.005, and there are two variables that showed no association namely: age variable p value = 0.060. The test results showed the effect was no significant effect of the level of education of respondents to the coverage UKGS III in Semarang district by using multivariate logistic regression analysis obtained p value with OR = 0.017 (Exp B) = 15.11. In addition to the OR obtained (Exp B) = 15.11 can be interpreted that if there is a dental nurse who has a higher education tend to be achieved coverage UKGS III with both categories 15 times, rather than dental nurses in secondary education (SPRG). Advice to the Head of Puskesmas Semarang District Health Office to provide opportunities for dental nurses undertake further education. TITLEInhibitory effect of young-avocado leaf against oral bacteria (Streptococcus mutans)ABSTRACTDental caries is one of the oral health problems that can cause pain and disrupt the activities. Bacteria plays an important role in the process of dental caries. The main bacterial cause of dental caries is Streptococcus mutans producing the glucosyltransferase enzyme. Streptococcus mutans produces a sticky extracellular polysaccharides of carbohydrate foods and able to ferment carbohydrates to acids. Streptococcus viridans is bacteria in the mucosa that synthesize large polysaccharides like dextran and levans of sucrose that are important factor in the formation of dental caries.This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of avocado leaf extract concentration of 60% and 80% to the inhibition of the growth of Streptococcus mutans.Method used was the method of diffusion wells using 2 samples in each treatment group. Sample consisted of 3 treatment groups avocado young leaf extract concentration of 60%, 80%. This research data analysis method using quantitative descriptive.The results showed that the leaf extract of avocado at all concentrations have antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. The lowest concentration of 60%,80% inhibition against the bacteria have a strong and increasingly stronger at higher concentrations. The conclusion of this study prove that avocado leaf extract has strong antibacterial activity against the growth of Streptococcus mutans. Key words : Avocado Young Leaf, Streptococcus Mutans

TITLEInhibitory effect of aloe vera mucilage to Streptococcus mutans growthABSTRACT Aloe vera contains various components of compounds, one of which is aloin and saponin (5.9%), which has an antibacterial effect so as to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Streptococcus mutans is known as a bacterium that can cause dental caries. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition of aloe sap to the bacteria Streptococcus mutans.This study uses a quasi-experimental methods. Research subjects used was Streptococcus mutans bacteria. The design of this study to make aloe vera sap solution with a concentration of 50%, 75% and 100%, then make a suspension of bacteria Streptococcus mutans. After the treatment, carried incubation for 1 X 24 hours in an incubator, the results do observation and measurement (post-test) of the diameter of the inhibition area Streptococcus mutans bacteria growth by using a ruler (mm). Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis method.Based on the research results, the sap of aloe vera with a concentration of 50% has to Streptococcus mutans inhibition of 10.15mm, the concentration of 75% amounting to 10.26mm, the concentration of 100% inhibition against Streptococcus mutans bacteria by 20.7mm. So it can be concluded that there is a difference in the concentration of aloe vera sap as inhibiting the growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans that the higher the concentration used, the greater the inhibition of the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. TITLEEFFECT OF SODA AND NON SODA CONTAINED TEA TO ACIDITY (pH) OF SALIVAABSTRACTThe saliva pH is the acidity of saliva. Carbonated tea beverage is tea drink mixed with soda. Carbonated beverages are tea not drink tea without soda mixture. In carbonated tea beverages containing sugar, CO2 (carbondioxide), ascorbic acid and citric acid and the carbonated drink tea does not contain sugar. From the contain of both these drinks can affect the pH of saliva. The purpose of this study is to determine differences in the pH of saliva between carbonated tea drinks and tea drinks are not fizzy.This study is conducted by quasi-experiment with a design. Pretest-posttest study population as many as 212 students of Department of Dental Nursing taken 20% in order to get a sample of 42 people, the technique decision-purposive sampling. The data obtained is pH of saliva before and after drinking tea and tea carbonated ale. Analysis of the data used to see difference Saliva pH between tea and tea carbonated fizzy not done with the Mann-Whitney. The results showed that the differences in the average pH of saliva before and after tea sparkling is 0.9 and the average value of the difference before and after drinking tea are not sparkling is 0.4. The conclusion of this study is the change in no difference the pH Saliva between drinking carbonated tea and tea drinking ale in Dental Nursing student.

TITLEInhibitory effect of mengkudu seeds extract against the growth of Streptococcus mutansABSTRACTOne of the problems in the oral cavity are dental caries. Dental caries is caused by bacteria Streptococcus mutans. Mengkudu seed is one of the herbs that have antibacterial effects that is composedof linoleic acid and essential fatty acids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and cardiac glycosides. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory Mengkudu seed extract on the growth of Streptococcus mutans.This research uses descriptive method. The study design is experimental. This study uses a concentration of 100% and 8 repetitions. Using a control group Sodium Physiological 0.9%. Research subjects in this study is the bacteria Streptococcus Mutans. In this study, bacteria were grown on PCA media by paper disc which had previously been dipped in water 100% noni seed extract, then take a paper disk back Sodium Physiological dipped 0.9% as a control group and in place on the media PCA, then incubated for 1 x 24 hours. Once it is done in the area oligodinamik measurements with calipers (mm). Analysis of the data used is descriptive kuantiatif.The results showed that noni seed extract can inhibit the growth of bacteria Streptococcus mutans. While having inhibitory still relatively very weak which is an average of 8 times the experiment is 8.32mm and it is hoped this research can be developed again with another method, in order to get results in maximum. TITLEPurple sweet potatoes and bits as dental plaque identification agentsABSTRACTUse of natural material for substituting chemical agents nowdays as a need. Anthocyanin contain on purple sweet potatoes and betacyanin on bit fruit has potency as a source of natural colour detection to see dental plaque. Purpose of this research to find ability differences of solution purple sweet potatoes dan bit fruit to detect dental plaque. Research design was quasy experimental with post test only design as an approach and quantitative descriptively was used to analyse the data. Sample was 26 students of elementary school who have mixed dentition. Data collection with cross over design. First day the students were applied by solution of purple sweet potatoes and the second they were applied by solution of bit fruit to detect of dental plaque.Research result shown mean score of plaque index after application of purple sweet potatoes was 1.358 and 1.942 after application of bit fruit. Mean of plaque index of bit fruit was higher than compared to mean of plaque index of purple sweet potatoes. This condition as betacyanin as pigmen which contain on bit fruit has good stability when compared with anthocyanin as pigmen on purple sweet potatoes.
