Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The challenges associated with Social Science (IPS) education within mainstream schooling frequently stem from the predominance of cognitive-oriented methodologies that overlook the internalisation of values and the development of social character among learners. This study seeks to investigate the implementation of Social Science values at Salaf al-Fathimiyyah Islamic Boarding School Tambakberas East Java employing the Kitab al-Nawadhir as the primary instructional resource to cultivate values of justice, responsibility, tolerance, and communal cooperation. A qualitative descriptive methodology was utilised, with primary data sourced from the text of Kitab al-Nawadhir and secondary data derived from academic journals, scholarly articles, and pertinent documents. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with the school’s administrators, Social Science teachers, and selected students. Data analysis encompassed data reduction, thematic categorisation, and narrative interpretation. The findings indicate that the social values embedded in Kitab al-Nawadhir are systematically internalised through collective life practices, institutional guidance, and exemplary behaviour within the boarding school. These results illustrate that the educational model at Salaf al-Fathimiyyah not only integrates narrative content with social experiences and local cultural practices but also presents an effective alternative approach to Social Science education in contemporary educational contexts.

Abstract

Although initial research suggests that Project-Based Learning (PJBL) and technology integration enhance student engagement and critical thinking, there is a lack of comprehensive long-term evidence on their effective adaptation in resource-constrained elementary schools. This study directly examines how PJBL combined with technology can foster deeper learning and knowledge retention in such settings. Using qualitative methods, including semi-structured interviews and classroom observations at An-Nawawiyyah Islamic School, this research provides clear evidence that PJBL, when linked to real-life problems and supported by technology, significantly boosts student engagement and understanding. However, persistent challenges—limited resources, insufficient staff training, and difficulty maintaining innovative teaching—hinder broader impact. This study contributes by clarifying how PJBL with technology can drive more meaningful learning in challenging contexts and provides an empirical basis for shaping relevant teacher development and curriculum policies. Further research should explore the long-term and comparative effectiveness of these strategies in diverse Indonesian schools.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of marriage delay among Islamic Boarding Scholl Students (Santri) in Salatiga City through the perspectives of Islamic law and Carl Gustav Jung’s Analytical Psychology. This research is significant because it highlights the increasing tendency of Santri, a group strongly associated with high religiosity and the belief that marriage is a form of worship to postpone marriage. The phenomenon reflects a tension between traditional Islamic values and modern realities, in which financial readiness, emotional maturity, and personal development have become key considerations before marriage. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Primary data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with 19 Santri from three Islamic boarding schools in Salatiga. Secondary data were obtained from classical Islamic literature and psychological studies on marriage. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The analytical framework integrates Islamic legal principles are ahkāmu nikāh, istiṭā‘ah, and kafā’ah with Jung’s Analytical Psychology, particularly the concepts of psyche, archetype, and individuation. The findings reveal that Santri postpone marriage due to concerns about financial preparedness, long-term commitment, and shifting social values. From the perspective of Islamic law, such delay is considered permissible as long as it does not violate religious principles. From the perspective of Analytical Psychology, delaying marriage represents a complex psychological process that reflects deep individual consideration between religious consciousness and modern personal aspirations.

Abstract

Islamic education institutions within Muhammadiyah Universities (PTM) play a strategic role in maintaining and developing Islamic values and the Muhammadiyah ideology within the academic environment. However, these institutions face various internal challenges, such as limited human resources and program innovation, as well as external challenges in the form of digital disruption, secularization of values, and changes in student characteristics. This study aims to examine the importance of strategic management in the development of Islamic education institutions in PTM using a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the implementation of strategic management through the stages of strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation can increase the effectiveness, relevance, and sustainability of the institution. Identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) and the use of the Balanced Scorecard approach are proven to help design policies and programs that are more measurable and impactful. This study recommends the need for visionary leadership, cross-unit collaboration, and strengthening Islamic values-based governance in realizing a superior and competitive institution amid the dynamics of higher education.

Abstract

Religious diversity within families has become an increasingly relevant social phenomenon in contemporary pluralistic societies. This study examines the display of different religious symbols in interfaith families as an effort to foster harmony, employing Alfred Schutz’s theory of social action motives, Roland Barthes’s theory of symbolic meaning, and Leon Festinger’s theory of cognitive dissonance. This research adopts a qualitative juridical-empirical approach that integrates legal and sociological perspectives. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews and direct observations involving five interfaith families residing in Tlogosari Hamlet, Banyukuning Village, Bandungan District, Semarang Regency. Secondary data were collected from legal regulations, academic literature, scholarly journals, and local archives related to interfaith marriage and religious symbolism. The findings reveal that the display of diverse religious symbols functions not only as an expression of individual identity but also as a medium of symbolic communication that strengthens emotional bonds and tolerance among family members. Cognitive dissonance arising from religious differences can be mitigated through adaptive mechanisms such as mutual respect, compromise, and the inculcation of universal values. The study concludes that religious symbols play a crucial social role in maintaining harmony within multireligious families. Future research is recommended to explore legal and educational dimensions in interfaith families more deeply, particularly regarding the transmission of religious values to children, to enhance understanding of social harmony and interreligious coexistence in Indonesia.

Abstract

A conceptual model that operationally combines contemporary artificial intelligence (AI) literacy with the philosophical framework of Islamic science for the context of religious learning does not yet exist. This research aims to develop a conceptual framework between PAI and AI from the perspective of the Philosophy of Science. The research method is by conducting a structured literature review (scoping review) followed by conceptual synthesis using triangulation analysis. The results of the research resulted in a conceptual framework of the PAI-AI Trinity of Science that integrates three main dimensions. First, epistemic, which is the ability to verify, validate, and contextualize AI-generated knowledge in the sharia corridor, including tracking scientific sanad and source validity. Second, ethics, namely the application of the principles of maqasid al-shariah and Islamic manners in AI human interaction, which includes the protection of human benefits, justice, and honor. Third, axiology, which is the orientation of the use of AI for moral, useful, and sustainable educational purposes according to the vision of Islamic education. In conclusion, the unification of the philosophical tradition of Islamic science with AI literacy and explainable AI (xAI) in education can be translated into curriculum competency design that includes aspects of knowledge, skills, and attitudes; management of digital tools and resources; and a sustainable evaluative research agenda. This framework is expected to be a reference for the development of an Islamic Religious Education curriculum that is adaptive to technological disruptions, but still rooted in Islamic scientific values and principles.

Abstract

Productive waqf represents an innovative model for optimizing waqf assets to strengthen social and economic resilience within Muslim communities. Despite its significant potential, the implementation of productive waqf in Indonesia remains limited, particularly in mosque-based institutions that often face challenges in professionalism and governance. This study aims to analyze the management system of the Wakaf Produktif Center (WPC) of the Great Mosque of Semarang, focusing on the implementation of nazhir’s rights and obligations and its impact on community welfare. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, grounded in the good waqf governance framework. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with WPC administrators and shop tenants, field observations, and official document analysis. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, display, and verification. The findings reveal that WPC management aligns with Law No. 41 of 2004 on Waqf, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and transparency. Productive waqf assets such as shop rentals and culinary centers have generated sustainable income that supports mosque programs and enhances the economic well-being of the surrounding community. The novelty of this research lies in identifying a replicable mosque-based productive waqf governance model adaptable to other regions. Scientifically, this study contributes to the development of a practical good governance model for productive waqf management in Indonesia. Future studies are recommended to examine the long-term effectiveness of the WPC model and employ quantitative approaches to measure its economic impact on beneficiaries.
