Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to analyze financial feasibility and sensitivity of small coffee farming; (2) to identify the role and the relationship between financial institutions and small coffee farmers. The analytical methods were NPV, net B/C, IRR, payback period, sensitivity, and Venn diagram. The results of this study showed that coffee farming system in the Sidomulyo village and Pace village were financially feasible and were not sensitive to the changes of costs and selling prices. Financial institution that had close relationship and important role in Pace Village was trader collectors. Meanwhile in the Sidomulyo Village were trader collectors and Cooperative of Buah Ketakasi. The right financial model of small coffee farmers established a network of financial cooperation with the principle of "win -win solution" among the relevant institutions.

Abstract

Red chili is one of horticulture commodity which has high economic value. The main problem of red chili marketing is the long of distribution channel that caused different of selling price between farmer and trader. In order to minimize that problem, its need spot auction system at farmer level. This distribution system is important to give best alternative in order increase red chili farmer income. Through this analysis, red chili’s farmer gets opportunity to decrease long channel distribution and increase selling price. This research results show that marketing margin at spot auction market is more efficient, through monopoly index analysis show that how big dominances of marketing institute in red chili marketing chain influence bargaining position of red chili farmer.

Abstract

This study provides empirical evidence by analyzing SRI adoption in the small farm sector in Citarum river basin, West Java, upstream region represented by Cianjur while the downstream region is represented by Karawang. Rice production will increase by application of the SRI method although there are additional costs related to farm labor. At the same price of rice, in the short run, increasing in production will increase farmers'income and in the long run, maintain the ecological sustainability of land. Increased production and improved soil conditions will ensure self-sufficiency of small farmers. The root problem and key issues in the implementation of SRI method at Cianjur related with lack of incentives for farmers to implement new methods. As in Karawang, the root cause of application SRI method related with no guarantee of market and government policyrelated market aspects.

Abstract

Agricultural development aims to develop system of sustainable agriculture. Coffee agribusiness development must be full supported with post-harvest sectors. The aims of the research were (1) to identify the implementation of diversification post-harvest technology by smallholders coffee farmers (2) to analyze the factors of smallholders coffee farmers’ Capability of implementation diversification post-harvest. The research method used descriptive-correlation. The analysis of the data was performed by using the correlation test of Tau b Kendall. The method of the research used was a survey using 100 respondents from all of center smallholders coffee farmers in Jember Regency. The result showed that; (1) Capability level of smallholders coffee farmers were average level,(2) the factors of smallholders coffee farmers’ Capability of implementation diversification postharvest were internal factors of farmer’s characteristics and external factors of farmer’s characteristics.

Abstract

Background: Pain treatments are closely related to pain assessment. Pain is probably one of the most common clinical phenomenon faced by nurses. Therefore, nurses are required to have adequate knowledge, skills and attitudes about pain, pain assessment and pain management. The objective of this descriptive explorative study was to identify the nurse's knowledge of pain, Methods: The samples were 33 nurses selected using convenience sampling method from medical surgical wards in selected hospital in Medan. Data were collected by using demography questionnaires and pain knowledge question sheet 30 items, Results: Subjects knowledge of pain ranged from 5 to 20 with average knowledge 11,33 (SD=3,33). Based on pain knowledge categories, more than half subjects (63,7%) were in moderate level, low level (33,3%), and only 3,0% in high level. Furthermore, based on subscales of pain knowledge, it was found moderate level of pain categories (M=3,82;SD=1,33) and pain mechanism’s subscales (M=2,03;SD=1,05). However, this study also found that pain definition (M=0,97;SD=0,98), pain behaviours (M=1,52;SD=1,09), and pain assessment’s subscales (M=3,00;SD=1,54) were in low level. In order to improve nurses knowledge of pain as well as the accuracy of pain assessment assessed by nurses, therefore nurses knowledge of pain need to be updated, Conclusions: this study found that nurses knowledge of pain was sufficient in moderate level, however need to be improved especially in three areas of knowledge including: pain definition, pain behaviours, and pain assessment. Abstract

Background: Adolescent sexual behavior is a risk factor that puts teenager in early adolescence period in unhealthy reproductive behaviors. Adolescent sexual behavior is influenced by various factors, such as hormonal changes, norms in society, dissemination of information through mass media, and spiritual intelligence. The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation, between spiritual intelligence and access to pornography with adolescent sexual behavior in Senior High School 1 Susut. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study with cross-sectional design. The number of samples was 82 respondents which were collected by proportional random sampling. Data collection using questionnaires adopted from spiritual intelligence questionnaires and pornography access questionnaires. Results: The results showed that of respondents (58.5%) had high spiritual intelligence while most of the respondents (67.1%) seldom accessed pornographic content. Meanwhile, majority of respondents 62.2 % performed premarital sexual behavior with no risk. Conclusions: There was a significant correllation between spiritual intelligence and adolescent sexual behavior (p=0,00). There was also a significant correllation between access to pornography and adolescent sexual behavior (with p value of 0.00). The School can provide counseling or guidance about premarital sexual behavior of healthy. Keywords: spiritual intelligence, access to pornography, adolescent sexual behavior

Abstract

Background: Antenatal care is the supervision before delivery primarily aimed at the growth and development of the fetus in the womb. The behavior of pregnant women in antenatal care visits aims to monitor fetal growth, as well as possible complications that occur during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the behavior of pregnant women in antenatal care visits in pregnant women trimester 3 at Pregnancy Clinic RSUD Sidoarjo. Methods: This research is a descriptive research with cross sectional approach. The population used is trimester 3 pregnant women in Pregnancy Clinic RSUD Sidoarjo on June 7, 2013 and sampling technique using Simple Random Sampling, as many as 80 respondents. The research instrument used is questionnaires that are tested using observation and interview. Results: The results showed the behavior of pregnant women in Pregnancy Clinic RSUD Sidoarjo has stated appropriate behavior is shown with good knowledge and a positive attitude toward pregnancy examination There is a Relationship Between the Behavior of Pregnant Women in doing antenatal care visit trimester 3 at Pregnancy Clinic RSUD. Conclusions: Looking at the results of this study can be concluded that the behavior of pregnant women is able to maintain good knowledge, positive attitude, and appropriate behavior is expected in the future pregnant women can do antenatal care so that during the next pregnancy the mother can maintain the health of mother and fetus. Abstract

Background: Nutrition is one of the factor that influence the occurrence of hypertension and family as the main unit in health care family members with hypertension. The purpose of this research was to identify the correlation between family support and nutrition fulfillment of family members with hypertention of family support in fulfilling requirement of family member nutrition with hypertension. Methods: was quantitative descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The research instrument used was questionnaire with probability sampling technique in 71 respondents. Results: Found that 35.2% of families provided good support in meeting nutritional needs. The fulfillment of good nutrition requirement from family was 29,6%. p = 0.012 there is relationship between family support with family member nutrition fulfillment with hypertension. The implications of the research results are expected to develop a hypertension nutritionally conscious family-giving program with family involvement. Conclusions: The family is expected to provide support in fulfilling their need nutrsi family members by hypertension. Keywords: family support, hypertension, nutrition

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is a dynamic condition, whereby a situation that is initially normal, can suddenly be at high risk. Risks that occur in pregnant women can be identified by knowing the health status of mothers during pregnancy. This study aims to describe the health status of pregnant women. Methods: The research design used was descriptive observation. The population of all pregnant women who do antenatal care at Puskesmas area of Surabaya city. Sampling using simple random sampling technique, sample are 72 respondents. The variables measured to describe maternal health status include age, education, occupation, history of hypertension, parity and nutritional status. Data collection was done by questionnaire to identify the variable, except nutritional status, the respondents were measured body weight and height, then calculated body mass index. The analysis used descriptive precentage so that known the spread of each variable. Results: The results of this study describe respondent’s age more than 41.7% 20-35 years old. The largest of respondent’s education are SMA, 55.6%. Respondents are as housewives more than 68.1%. The health status of respondents was based on second parity of 38.9%. History of hypertension suffered by respondents, 31.9% suffered from severe hypertension. Maternal nutrition included good category 59.7%. The health status of pregnant women in the city of Surabaya depicted many respondents in the age category not recommended for pregnancy, a history of severe hypertension and poor maternal nutrition causes increased the risk of complications in pregnancy and childbirth. Majority respondents to safe parity of the second and third pregnancies and more dominated by housewives make them potentially seeking antenatal care services. Conclusions: The role of health personnel needs to be improved so that the antenatal care function in an effort to improve the optimal health status of pregnant women. Abstract

The aim of the study to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) todevelop strategy of native chicken (ayam kampung) industry in Jember Regency. The study wasconducted from April to October 2016. The method was descriptive analysis method, usingquestionaires, interviews, and observations. Methods of data analysis using the SWOT analysiswere used to identify the internal environmental factors (strengths and weaknesses) andexternal environmental factors (opportunities and threats) areas, internal-external (IE Matrix),and SWOT Matrix. The result was then drawn in the quadrant analysis of SWOT andinterpreted in the SWOT matrix show the position and alternative strategies that can be run.The result showed that internal identified total score was 0.441 and external identified totalscore was 0.0897. The development strategy native chicken (ayam kampung) by aggressivegrowth strategy in quadrant I. Strategy that can be used is maintaining on going activitieshowever its quantity and quality remains developed. There are five alternative strategiesresulted to develop native chicken (ayam kampung) industry in Jember Regency and thepriority strategy is to optimize the role of agribusiness subsystem.
