Abstract

Background: Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) or better known as cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in emergency cases. Quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is by performing compression and ventilation so as to help victims of cardiac arrest to survive. But many people do not know about the procedure for giving CPR to victims of cardiac arrest. The purpose of this study is to increase the knowledge of santri as part of the community about the proper and correct CPR procedures. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version). Methods: The research method used preexperimental with pre post test approach. The population of this research is the students of Khomsani Nur Lumajang boarding school, totaling 37 people.. Results: Data analysis used the Wilcoxon signed rank test. As a result, hands only CPR training has a positive effect on the knowledge and skills of students in performing CPR with a p-value of 0.0001. The average score before the hands only CPR simulation with a minimum score of 20 and a maximum score of 75, and the average score after the hands only CPR simulation with a minimum score of 75 and a maximum score of 100, it can be seen that there is an increase in respondents about Hands Only CPR. This shows that there is a relationship between education or training and the level of knowledge of respondents.. Conclusions: Hands only CPR training can improve the knowledge and skills of students in providing assistance using hands only CPR to victims of cardiac arrest emergencies.

Abstract

Background: The patient mortality rate in the emergency department indicates the quality of patient care. One of the contributing factors is the nurse's response time in providing services to patients. Service delays can cause increased mortality in patients with high-priority categories. The purpose of this research is to identify how the response time of nurses in serving high-priority patients, the impact and causal factors, and strategies to improve nurse response time behavior. Methods: a systematic review using the PRISMA protocol and the JBI Critical Appraisal Tool was used to determine eligible articles. Articles were sourced from four electronic databases (Scopus, PubMed, Science Direct and Google Scholar). The inclusion criteria include research on the response time of nurses to patients in the emergency department, published in English in the last five years (2019 - 2023). Result: 19 articles were obtained according to the criteria. The analysis showed an increased risk of death in patients with the highest priority triage level, and an increase in response time positively impacted reducing the risk of death. Factors influencing response time behavior include age, gender, education level, length of work, knowledge, training, skills, self-efficacy, and work motivation. Conclusion: Efforts to increase response time are one factor in reducing the risk of death in patients with high priority. Strategies to improve nurse response time behavior in emergency services must consider factors influencing behavior to improve emergency services and reduce the risk of death.

Abstract

Background: Older adults often experience sleep disturbances due to the physiological decline of aging. Sleep disturbances predict physical and mental health problems in older adults, especially a risk of depressive symptoms. SEFT (Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique) is a therapy that combines spiritual power energy through prayer and psychology to improve the condition of mind, emotions, and behavior. Since little is known about the SEFT used to enhance sleep quality and reduce depressive symptoms in older adults. This study aimed to explore the effect of the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) on sleep quality and depression in older adults. Methods: This study used the quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group. Forty-six older adults in nursing homes participated in this study, divided into the experimental and control groups. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mann–Whitney (U), and Wilcoxon tests. Results: This study showed significant differences in sleep quality (p-value: 0.03) and depression (p-value: 0.05) in older adults before and after the implementation of SEFT. The results of the Mann Whitney Test – (U) test indicated a significant difference in the sleep quality of the participants in the intervention group compared to the control group (p-value: 0.011). However, conversely, there was no significant difference in depression symptoms of the older adults in the control and intervention groups after implementing SEFT (p-value: 0.075). Conclusions: Our findings infer that the SEFT can be considered a useful nonpharmacologic approach to improve sleep quality and depression among older adults in nursing homes. However, further research is needed concerning the impact of SEFT on older adults' depression.

Abstract

Background: Mosquitoes are insects that are dangerous to humans because they can cause various diseases, including dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), malaria, and elephantiasis. Mosquitoes transmit this disease to humans; therefore, controlling the mosquito vector by breaking its life chain, including using mosquito repellent is necessary. Lemon grass (Cymbopogon nardus L.) is a natural ingredient containing geraniol and citronellal, which functions as an anti-mosquito. This community service activity aims to educate the people of Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency, regarding the formulation for using natural mosquito spray from lemon grass with the product name SAMURAI (Anti-Mosquito Spray from Serai). Method: This community service activity has several methods, namely lectures, questions, and answers, and filling in pre-test and post-test sheets to measure community knowledge regarding SAMURAI products. At the time of counselling, samples related to SAMURAI products were also given to the community. Conclusion: After conducting education, it can be seen that public knowledge has increased regarding the use of natural anti-mosquito formulations from lemongrass. The increased pre-test to post-test results evidence this. The community also welcomed this counseling well and enthusiastically. Keywords: dengue hemorrhagic fever, mosquito repellent, lemon grass.
