Abstract

One of many duties of teachers is as a facilitators of students learning activities, as facilitator a teacher has to be capable in serving various kinds of instructional media. This research  aims to develop instructional media by applying  the computer assisted as simulation trainer of DCS in order to run processing control system, and analyzing characteristics on processing control systems, interactively, intuitive, effectively, and efficiently. This DCS/SCADA trainer is developed using LabVIEW application as the Human Machine Interface (HMI) which usually present on Distributed Control System (DCS). Arduino microcontroller as replacement for Programmable Logic Control (PLC) device. Applied controlling systems are Proportional Integral and Derivative (PID) control on single loop level and cascade loop level. From the research result by using mixed methods acquired qualitative and quantitative data’s. Data then analyzed through triangulation process by using the support of NVivo application until its validity and credibility can be approved as assessment on the instructional media which had been developed. To know the effectiveness thus testing of the student comprehension regarding of the media that is being used before has to be done by providing pretest and posttest. The results of the analysis of qualitative data obtained the information that stakeholders in the development of instructional media have confirmed agreement on the suitability of media that is developed with the curriculum in instrumentation processing control program. And the results of testing the effectiveness of this medium can be proven by the average value of the results of more than pretest posttest, the effectiveness is then expressed in Cohen-d where the results indicate a positive difference.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to investigate the effects of emotional honesty, interpersonal skills and task structure on directive leader behavior. This research was conducted at Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Medan, using the survey method with 136 principals as population and the sample of 60 principals as respondents who were selected by applying proportional random sampling. The hypotheses were tested by path analysis. This research findings were as follows (1) There was a significantly direct positive effect of emotional honesty on interpersonal skills; (2) There was a significantly direct positive effect of emotional honesty on task structure; (3) There was a significantly direct positive effect of emotional honesty on leader behavior; (4) There was a significantly direct positive effect of interpersonal skills on leader behavior; (5) There was a significantly direct positive of task structure on leader behavior.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan instrumen penilaian berbasis kompetensi ditinjau dari aspek kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor yang diperlukan dalam pembelajaran mata pelaj aran produktif di SMK. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (RD). Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, tes, observasi dan diskusi kalangan terbatas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi dasar yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam pembelajaran menyiapkan layanan makanan dan minuman, antara lain: menjelaskan definisi tata hidang dalam lingkup yang lebih luas, menjelaskan personalia food and beverage service, menjelaskan tujuan penerapan pengetahuan menu tata hidang dalam praktek, siswa memahami pengertian perlengkapan tata hidang, dapat menyiapkan area restoran untuk lingkup tertentu; , menerapkan pelayanan makanan dan minuman sesuai dengan jenis pelayanan dan mengenal jenis­jenis minuman di restoran. Bentuk instrumen aspek kognitif yang dikembangkan berupa tes obyektif pilihan ganda, disusun berdasarkan kisi-kisi penulisan soal dengan indikator masing-masing dari kompetensi maupun sub kompetensi berjumlah 75 butir soal yang valid dan reliable. Bentuk instrumen aspek afektif dinilai berdasarkan kedisiplinan, tanggung j awab, kreatifitas, percaya diri dan mampu bekerjasama dalam kelompok. Bentuk instrumen aspek psikomotor dinilai berdasarkan lembar observasi yang dikembangkan untuk kompetensi utama seorang waiter, manager, cook, kasir dan stewardes dalam pelayanan makanan dan minuman.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce an e-learning teaching model in order to enhance to comprehension of the thermodynamic technology. There are to main activities, i.e.: identifying the need of teaching material (including the data of category and the topics of suitable lecture material for e-learning, and the pedagogic aspects) and making the e-learning model. Our research subjects are 84 students of mechanical engineering department FPTK UPI who has taken thermodynamic technology lecture. The results of this research are as follows: (a) The LMS (e-learning) thermodynamic technology becomes the centre of student activities (community web based distance learning); (b) Interaction in the student groups, through discussion; and (c) The student administrations system, including attendance, tasks, tests and achievement will be more complete, various and up to date. The research results concerning the thermodynamic technology material are as follows: (a) new information; (b) clear teaching goal formulation; (c) integration between new substance content with loose lecture material; (d) students can show the level of their comprehension through exercise; (e) the concise, short, and compact material explanation; (f) feedback against the evaluation conducted.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the many indications of the students do not have mechanical aptitude, so have difficulty in following the process of learning in productive subjects for both theory and practice during the learning process less motivated, the number of students who are not competent and did not pass the competency test and should carry out remedial and percentage SMK Vijayakusuma graduate students working in the industry in accordance with the competence and expertise is very small. The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution mechanical talents, the learning process in productive subjects and competence to work in the industry. This study took a sample of 80 students. Method is a descriptive correlational study with data processing using path analysis. Research results are Mechanical talents, the process of learning in productive subjects and competence together make a positive contribution to the readiness to work in the industry at 56.5%. The conclusion from this study that partial mechanical aptitude, the learning process in productive subjects contribute to the readiness and competence to work in the industry is at a low level.

Abstract

Education is functioned to prepare human to compete in overcoming various challenges. One of challenge faced by Indonesian nation is natural disaster. The effective method to reduce the risk of natural disaster (disaster mitigation) is by enhancing understanding of disaster in each individual.  Aceh Tsunami Museum (ATM) is one of important site which is build to remember the big disaster event which happened in 2004 in Aceh and as disaster learning source.  This study is aimed to find out the influence of ATM utilization in enhancing students’ understanding of disaster, by using outdoor study method (visit ATM) and audio visual media (Film with disaster themed). The research design is Experimental quasi. Sample of this study are students of class X-2 IS and X-3 IS with total of 57 students. Data is obtained from literature study, observation, test, questionnaire, and documentary study. The result showed that utilizing ATM by outdoor study method can better enhance understanding of disaster compared to audio visual media. Constructivism learning approach can create more meaningful learning.  Teachers are suggested to apply constructivism learning approach in learning process.

Abstract

There are many models of evaluation that can be used to evaluate a program. However, the most commonly used is the context, input, process, output (CIPP) evaluation models. CIPP evaluation model developed by Stufflebeam and Shinkfield in 1985. The evaluation context is used to give a rational reason a selected program or curriculum to be implemented. A wide scale, context can be evaluated on: the program's objectives, policies that support the vision and mission of the institution, the relevant environment, identification of needs, opportunities and problems specific diagnosis. Evaluation input to provide information about the resources that can be used to achieve program objectives. Evaluation inputs used to: find a problem solving strategy, planning, and design programs. Evaluation process serves to provide feedback to individuals to account for the activities of the program or curriculum. The evaluation process is conducted by: monitoring sources can potentially cause failure, prepare a preliminary information for planning decisions, and explain the process that actually happened. Product evaluation measure and interpret the achievement of goals. Evaluation of the products also come to: the measurement of the impact of the expected and unexpected. The evaluation is conducted: during and after the program. Stufflebeam and Shinkfield suggest product evaluation conducted for the four aspects of evaluation: impact, effectiveness, sustainability, and transportability. The decision making process is done by comparing the findings / facts contained in context, input, process and product standards or criteria that have been set previously.

Abstract

Makalah ini memaparkan hasil pengembangan model evaluasi pembelajaran dari serangkaian dimensi penilaian portofolio, proyek, presentasi proyek dan tes tulis. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada kegiatan praktikum teknik analog melalui model pembelajaran project based learning (PjBL). Logika fuzzy merupakan suatu alternatif alat pengambil keputusan yang dapat diaplikasikan untuk mengevaluasi hasil pembelajaran. Keputusan akhir dalam evaluasi PjBL menghasilkan proses evaluasi yang tidak kaku dan objektif karena keputusan akhir dapat ditentukan melalui proses defuzzifikasi yang sepenuhnya dilakukan menggunakan fuzzy logic toolbox.  Model evaluasi berbasis logika fuzzy diharapkan mendapat trend yang baik dan bisa menjadi petunjuk untuk mengembangkan model evaluasi yang diadopsi di sekolah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of pneumatic trainer as instructional media in sequential motion control material. The research uses quasi-experimental method with pre and post test design. The material is limited to sequential motion control using two actuators for objects transfer. Control class uses instructional media training kit, while experimental class uses development-result trainer. Essay tests are in form of diagram circuit for application of electroplating products transfer. The results show that the developed pneumatic trainer and training kit are quite effective as media of learning in sequential motion control. Statistical tests indicate no significant difference between the two groups, so that it can be concluded that compared to training kit, the developed pneumatic trainer is not more effective as learning media.

Abstract

Food additive is one of the topics included in the food chemistry course. Despite its benefits which are directly related to everyday life applications, it is common knowledge that the chemistry is one of the subjects that are difficult to understand for its abstraction. Students’ average mastery of food chemistry is below 60%. The study found that information technology-based contextual inquiry approach to topic of food additives can improve students’ critical thinking skills. Increase in scores from pretest to posttest is experienced by all samples with different N-Gain values. The majority (59%) is in medium category, 20% in high category and a fraction (11%) is in low category. Information technology-based contextual inquiry approach to the topic of food additives makes students more active and increases learning enthusiasm
