Abstract

East Java is a large province in Indonesia with the population of more than 39 million people and has economic dominance in the agricultural sector. Huge agricultural sector resources in East Java have high comparative advantages. Regional-owned Food Business Entities is one of the strategic policies that become a bridge for the agricultural production sector with its market. It is hoped that the welfare of farmers can be improved and will have an impact on poverty reduction and economic growth in East Java. This study aims to: 1) Provide a description of the role of Regional-owned Food Business Entities and its prospects based on the perspective of farmers in East Java; 2) Analyze determinants of poverty and economic growth as the ultimate goal of food enterprises, through the agricultural sector approach. The method used in this study was panel data analysis with the data from Central Bureau of Statistics year 2010-2018. The results showed that almost all farmers supported the establishment of Regional-owned Food Business Entities with the prerequisites for price certainty that benefited farmers. Furthermore, the results of the estimation of multiple linear regressions in the poverty model and the economic growth model show that poverty is strongly influenced by the quality of human resources, as well as the economic growth model. Before realizing the Regional-owned Food Business Entities, benchmarking was recommended to find out best practices and feasibility studies in various aspects.

Abstract

The onion cultivation often faced various risks caused by many factors, so farmers need to make the right decision to start onion cultivation by paying attention to these risks. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of 1) analyzing the income risk faced by farmers in developing onion farming, 2) knowing the factors that affect the farming risk, 3) knowing the factors that influence farmers' decisions in planting onion. The research was conducted in Purworejo Village for 4 months with 30 onion farmers as the sample. To analyze the income risk faced by farmers in developing onion farming, it was done by calculating the coefficient of variation (CV). Minimum income was calculated by the residual formula of the squared income function and to determine the factors that influence farming income and farmers' decisions in planting onion, multiple linear regression analysis was performed. The research showed that the risk of onion farming income was quite high, reached 79.72% and the factors that influence were land area, total production, selling price, and production costs. Meanwhile, the factors that influence the decision making of onion farmers were education, age, and farmer experience.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the amount of costs, production volume, revenue, and business profit of CV Tani Subur and analyze the BEP and optimize the use of resources in organic fertilizer production in CV Tani Subur to produce maximum profit. The study was conducted in December 2019 at CV Tani Subur, Sleman. The research method used was quantitative method with cost-volume profit and linear programming data analysis. The results showed cost-volume profit analysis is unsuitable to be used in CV Tani Subur profit planning. The re- event point of CV Tani Subur in 2017 had the highest value and caused losses to CV Tani Subur due to its inability to break even. Furthermore, the analysis of linear programming in CV Tani Subur shows that the company will get optimal results if it only produces cow organic fertilizer as much as 548.3925 tons per year. The advantage achieved if producing organic cow fertilizer which is calculated by calculating the simplex method using POM Quantitative methods for windows version 3 software is IDR. 248,392,500 per year.

Abstract

The Food Independent Village Program was performed to give an impact on reducing the level of food and nutrition insecurity of the needy in rural areas. The success of program implementation can be seen from the level of food security of the household recipients. This research aimed to determine the level of food security based on 1) Share of Food Expenses (PPP), 2) Energy Sufficiency Rate (AKE), 3) Performance of household food security. The research method used was a survey method. Sampling used was a random sample (Random Sampling) with 85 respondents. The analysis method used was a cross-combination approach between the share of food expenses (PPP) and the level of household energy consumption (AKE). The results showed that based on AKE the distribution of food-secure households was 65.53% and food insecure was 36.47%. Meanwhile, based on PPP, the distribution of households that were food insecure was 40% and food secure was 60%. The performance of household food security in the food security category was 25.88 percent, food vulnerability was 40.00 percent, food shortage was 14.12 percent, and food insecurity was 20.00 percent. The proportion of households that were food insecure was still large, which means that efforts were needed to improve the food security of households who were the Food Independent Village program recipients.

Abstract

Rice consumption in Indonesia has risen as the population increasing rapidly. The structure of the young age population will influence the amount of per capita of rice consumption. The rice cultivating and production will also determine whether or not it will fulfil the needs. The present research aimed at analyzing Indonesian rice import within the last decade (2010 – 2019). The research method used was a literature review. The research result shows that within the last 10 years, the width of the rice cultivating and production area have been declining as much as 1,8% and 1.6% respectively. However, the rice productivity rate is still in positive number at 2.0%. Eventhough the household consumption declined as much as 2% annually, apparently this was not enough for Indonesia to fulfil the needs internally. In short term period, an import would be a solution to fulfil the needs for domestic rice consumption. On the other hand, for a longer term, an import can be a problem because the rice trade balance with be disrupted. A small number of rice export volume will result in a rice trade balance deficit in Indonesia.

Abstract

A lot of budgets had spent by the government on fertilizer subsidies. However, in its implementation there were still many obstacles. Therefore, the effectiveness of subsidies and their impact on production was interesting to study. The aim of this research was to describe the effectiveness of fertilizer subsidies and to determine the impact of the effectiveness of fertilizer subsidies on rice production. This research was conducted in Sukaasih Village, Sukatani Sub-district, Bekasi Regency. The research sample was determined by the multistage sampling method which resulted 109 farmers samples. The data that had been obtained were analyzed using frequency distribution analysis and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the implementation of fertilizer subsidies in Sukaasih Village was not effective. Variables that affected rice production were land area, the use of NPK fertilizer, SP-36, the use of seeds, and the effectiveness of fertilizer subsidies. Therefore, the government needs to tighten the target and application of subsidized fertilizers by collaborating with related parties so that subsidized fertilizers can be effective, on target, and efficient because the effectiveness of subsidized fertilizers affected rice production.
