Abstract

Tabanan Regency still faces obstacles to effectively managing village finances, as shown by the budget surplus (SiLPA). Bali Province has achieved the lowest SiLPA ratio. Therefore, it is necessary to re-optimize financial management, taking into account the diverse challenges faced by the 133 villages. Furthermore, given that Bali is a major source of agricultural production and employment, effective village financial management will significantly impact agriculture's development. This study examined the budget planning process in Tabanan Regency, the sources of revenue for villages in Tabanan Regency, the use of village budgets in Tabanan Regency, and the role of village financial management on agricultural development. This study employed qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis to examine budget planning, revenue sources, and the utilization of village budgets in 20 villages. Qualitative descriptive analysis was employed to investigate the impact of village finance management on agricultural development. The results show that the village finances in Tabanan Regency have been managed according to the principles of transparency, accountability, participation, and budget discipline. The primary source of revenue in Tabanan Regency is Transfer Revenue. The majority of village expenditures in Tabanan Regency are allocated towards village administration. Village finance management is crucial for promoting agricultural development and enhancing the village economy.

Abstract

Kelulut stingless bees play a crucial role as pollinators for numerous crops. Since cultivating honey can contribute to food security and promote sustainable agricultural practices, it is thus essential to identify the ecosystem services provided by kelulut stingless beekeeping for sustainable honey farming. A comprehensive literature review was conducted with the aim of (1) identifying the ecosystem services associated with kelulut stingless beekeeping and (2) determining the factors influencing its sustainability. The literature review used two search databases, Google Scholar and ScienceDirect, with relevant keywords, and the findings were summarized and interpreted by referring to recent studies. Additionally, a SWOT analysis was conducted to assess the factors influencing the sustainability of Kelulut stingless beekeeping. It was revealed that there are three main ecosystem services of stingless bee keeping: provisioning services (honey products), regulating services (pollination, impact on the food chain, and biodiversity), and cultural functions (tourism and education). The sustainability of ecosystem services provided by kelulut stingless beekeeping depends on several factors, such as the strength of the local community, farmers’ skills, and biodiversity, as indicated in the SWOT analysis table. This paper provides valuable insights for future studies, aiding in developing sustainable management strategies for stingless bee colonies and enhancing their productivity based on the characteristics of ecosystem services and their influencing factors

Abstract

Homestays have emerged as a crucial discussions issue in village development initiatives. The subject of women’s involvement in household business has enhanced the discussion of how their participation improves individual quality in social interactions and is equally vital in village development. This study investigates the role of homestays in empowering women in rural Balinese communities, specifically Ubud and Blimbingsari. Despite a patriarchal social structure, women are increasingly involved in homestay businesses. The research employs a qualitative approach, using primary data sources; collected through interviews with purposive sampling. This research found that homestay businesses play a pivotal role in empowering and encouraging female members of the Ubud and Blimbingsari communities, fostering their self-recognition within their families and society. Through regular management and training, these businesses have significantly advanced the skills of female hosts, particularly in areas such as room preparation, cooking, communication, and hospitality. While these efforts have been beneficial, there remains room for further empowerment beyond the current limitations, especially in decentralizing control within the Blimbingsari tourism committee

Abstract

The limitation of technology poses a challenge in the essential oil industry in Indonesia. Indonesian essential oils are still exported in crude form, thus possessing low value-added. Meanwhile, Indonesia has 40 types of essential oils out of 80 traded globally, with 12 of them entering the global commercial market. Therefore, this research is intriguing to examine, aiming to 1) analyze the global market structure of essential oils, 2) analyze comparative competitiveness, and 3) the competitive advantage of Indonesian essential oils. The data consists of secondary data in the form of time series for the period 2012-2022. The data were analyzed using the Herfindahl Index, CR4, RCA, and EPD methods. The research findings indicate that the market structure of essential oils in the international market is oligopolistic with moderate concentration levels. Indonesia has a comparative advantage and strong competitiveness in all countries in this study. The condition of competitive advantage that occurred frequently during the period 2012-2022 in the five target countries is as follows: retreat, followed by rising star, then lost opportunity, and the least occurring is falling star

Abstract

Human and spatial crowding presents a significant challenge in the restaurant industry, particularly influencing the likelihood of customers returning. This study aimed to examine the impact of human and spatial density on the perception of a restaurant's image and the satisfaction of its patrons, as well as to assess how these perceptions influence customers' intentions to revisit. The research involved 100 participants, who were surveyed using an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. Data analysis was conducted utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling approach with WarpPLS 8.0 software. The findings revealed that both human and spatial crowding positively affect the restaurant's image and customer satisfaction. In turn, a positive image of the restaurant and high levels of customer satisfaction were found to significantly influence patrons' intentions to return to the spicy noodle restaurant. These insights suggest that restaurants could strategically leverage the presence of crowding to enhance their image and elevate customer satisfaction, thereby supporting business sustainability and encouraging repeat visits

Abstract

Hydroponics is one of the profitable business opportunities. However, the main obstacle is that it requires large capital, so the purpose of this study is to determine the inventory of hydroponic farming and analyze the feasibility of greenhouse hydroponic farming. Carried out in Malang Raya with Purposive location determination, for sample determination using accidental sampling from a total sample of 15 respondents, only 9 respondents who have the criteria to analyze the feasibility of farming, this study uses descriptive quantitative data. The 9 respondents were divided into 2 planting patterns, namely monoculture and polyculture. The results of this study, for the inventory of tools and materials adapted to the type of system used and for the non-financial feasibility analysis stated that hydroponic farming is feasible to run from the aspects of market and marketing, technical and social. In terms of management, it is not feasible to run. From a financial point of view with a farming age of 3 years and for the interest rate used of 3%, the results show that in terms of Net B / C Ratio investment criteria from 9 respondents there is 1 monoculture farm that is feasible to run and 3 polyculture farms that are feasible to run. As for the NPV value of 9 respondents there are 2 polyculture farms that are not feasible. And for the results of the IRR analysis states that the 9 ponds are not feasible to run.

Abstract

Regions in Indonesia have relatively high economic growth, but are also accompanied with high economic inequality. In addition, population density tends to vary, so the opportunities to utilize resources by each population differ between regions. The objectives of this research are (1) to determine economic inequality in regions with high population density (Java-Bali), medium (Sumatra), and low (Maluku); and (2) to analyze the contribution of the agricultural sector in reducing this inequality. The Theil index analysis method is used to address the first objective, while the Theil index values with and without the agricultural sector are compared to address the second objective. The research results indicate that economic inequality in regions with high population density is higher than in regions with medium population density, and in regions with medium population density is higher than in regions with low population density. The research also confirms that the agricultural sector is able to reduce economic inequality in the research regions. The research findings are important as a basis for the development of the agricultural sector in order to reduce economic inequality

Abstract

Despite its well-run production and marketing in Indonesia, the development strategies of banana produce are in need of comprehensive scientific study. This present study aims to analyze the production and marketing prospects of Indonesian bananas. We employed the available data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik) from 2017-2021. The obtained data for production prospects was analyzed through a descriptive analysis by compiling the numbers of production, productive crops, and productivity of bananas. Meanwhile, the marketing prospects were analyzed based on data on consumption, export volume and value, import volume and value, and exports and imports of banana flour. The results showed that the prospects for banana production in Indonesia are promising; however, the production development is in need of support from more planting areas to boost productivity. Marketing expansion into the importing-countries, such as Europe, the US, China, Russia, and Japan is facilitated through the export of fresh bananas. Our findings suggest that the marketing prospects can be increased through the support from banana processing industry. Furthermore, the opportunity for market expansion of processed banana products remains viable in both domestic and international markets, particularly when considering banana flour as a potential product.

Abstract

Egg prices exhibit high volatility over short time intervals, which is notsurprising given their affordability and popularity as a primary proteinsource. However, this fluctuation in prices poses significantchallenges for businesses, particularly in managing cash flow. Hence,it becomes crucial to evaluate the feasibility and sensitivity of theLayers farming business at PT JIF. The objective of this research is toprovide a comprehensive analysis of the characteristics, financialaspects, cost flow, and overall feasibility of PT JIF's Layers farmingoperations. To achieve this, the study employs several data analysismethods, including the Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate ofReturn (IRR), Net B/C ratio, and Payback Period techniques. Thesemethods are used to assess the economic viability of PT JIF's Layersfarming business. The results demonstrate that PT JIF's layer farmingbusiness is indeed feasible, meeting the established investmentfeasibility criteria. Specifically, the NPV is greater than zero, the IRRexceeds the discount rate, the Net B/C ratio is higher than one, andthe payback period is within three years, which is shorter than thecommercial life of PT JIF's Layers farming business. For aspiringfarmers venturing into the layer farming industry, it is advised toexercise patience, resilience, and consistency, considering the returnon-investmentperiodofapproximatelythreeyears.Moreover,future researchersareencouragedtoconductsensitivityanalysestoexplore the potential effects of uncertainties on PT JIF's Layers farmingbusiness in the long term. By incorporating such sensitivity analyses,a more comprehensive understanding of the business's potentialperformance under varying circumstances can be obtained. This, inturn, would aid in making informed decisions and implementingeffective strategies for sustained success in the Layers farming sector

Abstract

Food barn is a program created to realize food security at the micro level through the maintenance of food availability as one implemented in Bantul. This study aims to investigate the implementation of food barn management and the effectiveness of food barn in increasing rice farmers’ income. Located at Timbul Asih Food Barn, Bantul Regency, this study collected the respondents involving ten rice farmers who were members of the food barn using a census system, and 35 non-members using random sampling. The implementation of food barn management was analyzed descriptively, while the effectiveness of the food barn program in increasing the farmers’ income was analyzed using an independent t-test. The results reveal that Timbul Asih Food barn in Bantul Regency has applied five management functions; however, the addition of members is necessary for the dynamic operation of Timbul Asih Food Barn. The t-test analysis indicates that there is no significant income difference between the member farmers and those who were not members of the food barn. This implies that the presence of food barn is not yet effective in increasing the income of its members
