Abstract

The post-truth phenomenon has driven the need for critical literacy among students, especially in the face of digital information flows that are rife with misinformation and disinformation. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of critical literacy as well as the challenges, strategies, and expectations they face in applying critical literacy in the post-truth era. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory design, involving 25 students from various study programs in Bone Regency who were selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The results show that students view critical literacy as an essential skill, important not only for academic purposes but also for daily life, enabling them to resist the influence of fake news. Students identified several obstacles, including cognitive bias, laziness in verifying information, and a lack of support from the academic environment; however, they have also developed various strategies for verifying and selecting information. Additionally, there is a hope that universities and lecturers will be more active in providing discussion spaces and systematic critical literacy training. These findings confirm that strengthening critical literacy requires multidimensional interventions, including curriculum innovation, training, and fostering an open and reflective academic culture so that students can become active subjects in building valid and responsible knowledge amid the challenges of the post-truth era.

Abstract

Romance fraud is a crime committed through emotional manipulation via digital platforms, causing significant financial and psychological harm to victims. Despite growing prevalence, the phenomenon lacks unified terminology, with terms such as "love scam," "catfishing," and "sweetheart swindle" reflecting its conceptual complexity. This bibliometric analysis of 152 publications (2010?2025) maps the interdisciplinary landscape of online romance fraud research using Scopus data and VOSviewer software. Five critical findings emerge: (1) publication acceleration of 553 percent from 2020?2024, signaling urgent recognition as a sociotechnical crisis; (2) geographic imbalance with the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia accounting for approximately 70 percent of publications while Global South nations remain epistemically marginalized; (3) disciplinary shift from early technical cybersecurity framings toward holistic, trauma-informed perspectives emphasizing mental health and victimization; (4) methodological limitations with 85 percent employing descriptive statistics and lacking longitudinal victim tracking; and (5) authorship concentration wherein two scholars account for 21 percent of publications. Analysis identified five distinct thematic clusters cybercrime systems, victimology, psychological manipulation, platform-specific risks, and digital risk behavior demonstrating that romance fraud demands integrated frameworks bridging criminology, psychology, computer science, and public health. The research landscape is simultaneously accelerating, shifting toward psychosocial concerns, geographically concentrated in privileged nations, and methodologically conservative, creating urgent gaps in Global South perspectives, culturally-specific victim experiences, and longitudinal designs. These findings inform evidence-based prevention strategies, cross-sector policy interventions, victim support services, and open urgent opportunities for future multidisciplinary exploration, particularly Global South-led investigations and perpetrator-focused inquiry essential for developing effective intervention approaches.

Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric review of the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI), information literacy, and user behavior in digital search ecosystems. The rapid growth of AI technologies, particularly in machine learning and deep learning, has significantly transformed digital search environments, affecting how users seek and process information. Despite the advancements, there is a growing concern over the widening digital literacy gap, particularly in countries undergoing digital transitions like Indonesia, where individuals with limited digital skills struggle to navigate AI-powered search systems. This review analyzes scholarly publications from 2014 to 2024, identifying publication trends, thematic focuses, and gaps in research related to AI-mediated information retrieval. The study reveals that while AI-driven technologies such as large language models and recommendation systems have reshaped search ecosystems, little attention has been given to understanding how users, especially those with low information literacy, interact with these systems. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions to improve digital and AI literacy, particularly in educational and public sectors. Future research should explore the social and cultural implications of AI in information access, focusing on diverse user groups and ethical considerations. This study contributes to both theoretical and practical knowledge by mapping the development of AI research and identifying areas requiring further exploration to ensure equitable access to information.

Abstract

The digital transformation era has fundamentally reshaped reading behavioral patterns among university students, particularly within Islamic higher education contexts where traditional literacy practices maintain profound cultural and pedagogical significance alongside emerging digital competencies. This empirical investigation examines reading modality preferences among Islamic Library and Information Science (IPII) students at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, analyzing relationships between five distinct reading modalities: traditional print-based reading, digital-mediated reading, academic-focused reading, leisure-oriented reading, and social media consumption patterns. A cross-sectional survey employed a 244-item validated questionnaire administered to 71 IPII students (72.4% response rate, N=98). Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, factor analysis, and cluster analysis using SPSS 28.0. Digital reading demonstrated highest engagement (M = 3.68, SD = 0.52), followed by academic reading (M = 3.61, SD = 0.71) and traditional reading (M = 3.42, SD = 0.63). Strong positive correlations emerged between traditional and academic reading (r = 0.563, p < 0.001). Cluster analysis identified three profiles: digital-oriented readers (40.8%), balanced multimedia readers (32.4%), and traditional-preferenced readers (26.8%). IPII students exhibit complementary rather than competitive relationships between reading modalities, necessitating pedagogical approaches that integrate digital competencies while preserving traditional Islamic scholarly practices.

Abstract

The increase in mental health problems, especially among students, requires actions that do not solely rely on formal clinical services. One non-clinical method that is considered relevant, affordable, and easily accessible is bibliotherapy, especially in the context of libraries as community-based places. The purpose of this article is to explore the role of librarians as non-clinical mental health supporters through the implementation of developmental bibliotherapy in libraries. The methodology used in this study was a qualitative approach with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of nineteen relevant scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. The research findings indicate that developmental bibliotherapy has the potential to provide initial psychosocial support, such as the development of emotional literacy, coping skills, and reduction of stress and anxiety levels among users, especially students. In practice, librarians play a key role in curating reading materials, facilitating access to reflective information, and creating a safe environment that supports mental well-being without violating non-clinical role boundaries. Thus, the implementation of bibliotherapy also faces various ethical and professional challenges, especially those related to the boundaries of the librarian's role, user privacy protection, and the need for training and interprofessional collaboration. This article emphasizes the role of librarians as facilitators of mental health based on bibliotherapy in university libraries in Indonesia, and also provides practical suggestions for service development and improving librarians' skills in mental health literacy.

Abstract

Many ancient manuscripts in Indonesia are experiencing damage, neglect, and even illegal trade, endangering their status as cultural heritage. The Mpu Tantular State Museum, which houses 334 manuscripts, plays a crucial role in safeguarding these collections. However, a comprehensive evaluation of its preservation practices has never been conducted. This study aims to evaluate the preservation of ancient manuscripts at the Mpu Tantular State Museum using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews with three key informants, and documentation. Source triangulation was conducted through policy documents, activity reports, and field observations to ensure data validity. The results show that in the context aspect, the museum has established clear objectives and supporting policies, although a structured evaluation system is lacking. In terms of input, limitations remain in human resources, facilities, and budget allocation. The preservation process is conducted through traditional yet systematic methods, such as cleaning, citronella oil application, and fumigation, supported by external collaboration. The product aspect demonstrates positive outcomes in maintaining manuscript condition and academic utilization, although public access remains limited. Theoretically, this study contributes to expanding the application of the CIPP model in the field of manuscript preservation by adapting it to the context of regional museums, offering a new analytical perspective that bridges the gap between ideal preservation standards and practical implementation in local cultural institutions.
