Abstract

The advancement of technology has brought significant transformation to the field of education, including Arabic language learning. This study examines the effectiveness of technology integration in Arabic language learning through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The study aims to analyze the impact of technological implementations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), gamification, and online learning platforms on enhancing student engagement, comprehension, and motivation. The findings indicate that technology utilization not only enriches the learning experience and provides flexibility in accessing materials but also significantly improves overall learning effectiveness. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, including limited infrastructure, inadequate teacher readiness, and cultural and curriculum gaps within the education system. Therefore, this study recommends continuous teacher training, investment in digital infrastructure, and curriculum updates to ensure better adaptation to technological advancements. In the future, innovations such as Virtual Reality (VR) and personalized AI hold great potential for creating more interactive, immersive, and effective Arabic language learning experiences.

Abstract

This study analyzes the meanings contained in the dhikr recited during the haul tradition of Sheikh Abdul Wahab Rokan Al-Khalidi An-Naqsyabandi in Besilam, Langkat. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with an anthropolinguistic approach, utilizing Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which distinguishes between denotative (literal) and connotative (symbolic) meanings. The aim of this study is to explore the depth of the dhikr's meanings within the spiritual and cultural context of the Islamic community, particularly in relation to the Naqsyabandiyah order. The findings indicate that these prayers possess two dimensions of meaning: the literal meaning related to seeking forgiveness from Allah, honoring the Prophet, and glorifying Allah, and a deeper connotative meaning that encompasses symbolic understandings such as strengthening the spiritual connection with Allah, the Prophet Muhammad, and the saints, as well as fostering a collective consciousness among Muslims. Overall, this haul tradition serves not only as a tribute to the deceased but also as a means to reinforce faith, remind participants of the importance of compassion, and maintain the continuity of teachings and blessings passed down from the Prophet Muhammad SAW to his succeeding saints.

Abstract

Songs are a form of oral literature capable of conveying messages through language and music. This study analyzes the meaning of the lyrics in Atuna Tufuli, popularized by Shirine, using Michael Riffaterre's semiotic theory of poetry. The research aims to uncover meaning through four key elements: displacing, distorting, and creating meaning; heuristic and hermeneutic reading; matrix; and model and hypogram. This descriptive-qualitative research employs a library study approach. The findings show that the lyrics convey complex expressions of love and longing through indirect expression. Heuristic and hermeneutic readings reveal restrained emotional expressions. The matrix emphasizes the desire of children in conflict areas to live in peace and freedom. The model and hypogram indicate intertextual connections with universal themes of longing for a normal childhood and peace-elements also found in classical Arabic poetry. These recurring themes evoke empathy and reflect a broader call for attention to children affected by war and violence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of colonialism and forms of Palestinian resistance as depicted in the film 200 Meters, employing Albert Memmi's theory of colonialism. The film not only portrays acts of resistance but also demonstrates how colonialism shapes the identities of both the colonizer and the colonized, as seen through the protagonist Mustafa's perilous journey to reunite with his family across a 200-meter separation enforced by Israel's apartheid wall. Using qualitative descriptive analysis, this research examines Arabic-language dialogue excerpts and visual sequences from 200 Meters. Key findings include:14 instances revealing Israeli colonial characteristics, categorized as: 3 traits of colonizers in denial, 3 traits of colonizers in acceptance, 3 traits of colonized subjects in acceptance, 4 traits of colonized subjects in rejection, 7 forms of Palestinian resistance, comprising: 2 cases of primordialism, 1 rejection of colonial state symbols, 1 rejection of colonial laws, 1 assimilation attempt, 2 demonstrations of solidarity.

Abstract

This study explains and describes the problems faced in learning Arabic, particularly in speaking skills. Arabic is a second language learned by students at school, and as such, many students face difficulties when practicing speaking skills. The writing method used in this article involves library research as well as field observations through interviews with teachers, students, and direct observation, in order to obtain the expected research results. The purpose of this study is to explore more deeply the factors that influence students in practicing Arabic speaking skills and to identify possible solutions to those difficulties. The findings of the research reveal several factors that contribute to students' difficulties in speaking Arabic. These include a lack of vocabulary (mufrodat), diverse educational backgrounds or previous schooling, an unsupportive language environment that hinders the development of Arabic-speaking situations, and low motivation and interest in learning among students. To address this problem, the school should create a supportive Arabic-speaking environment as an effective step to improve students’ speaking skills, because through positive reinforcement and habituation, students will become more motivated

Abstract

This study investigates linguistic errors in Arabic language learning among students at State Islamic Senior High School Insan Cendekia Kota Batam through an ethnographic approach. The research addresses challenges faced by non-native learners, particularly in phonology, morphology, and syntax. The study aims to identify types of errors, analyze their causes, and explore institutional responses. Data were collected through classroom observation, interviews with students, teachers, and administrators, and analysis of teaching materials and student work. Findings reveal frequent errors in the pronunciation of Arabic phonemes such as /ذ/, /ث/, and /ع/, incorrect verb conjugation, and flawed sentence structures. These are primarily caused by first language interference, limited prior exposure to Arabic, lack of structured morphology instruction, and constrained practice time due to tight academic schedules. Arabic instruction tends to be vocabulary-centered, often reducing learning to memorization. The study concludes that a more communicative, contextual, and skill-oriented approach is needed in non-pesantren Islamic schools to improve Arabic proficiency.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of oral tests as an assessment instrument for Arabic speaking skills at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Huda Sukawinatan. Using a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, the research combines a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design with qualitative data from interviews and observations. Quantitative analysis, specifically the independent sample t-test, showed a significant improvement in the speaking skills of the experimental group (p < 0.05), demonstrating the positive impact of oral testing. The average score of the experimental group increased from 61.4 in the pretest to 82.7 in the posttest, reflecting substantial progress after the treatment. This finding is supported by qualitative data, which revealed that oral tests provide a more authentic evaluation, boost student motivation, and encourage practical speaking practice. The study concludes that oral tests are highly effective for assessing Arabic speaking skills in this context, offering a valuable contribution to authentic assessment literature and providing practical recommendations for educators, language teachers, curriculum designers, and future researchers.

Abstract

This study developed and tested an integrative learning model to improve the critical reading skills of high school students in Kediri City through a deep learning approach, authentic digital texts, and literacy debates based on educational websites. Using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, it involved 240 eleventh-grade students from eight high schools in three subdistricts. The t-test confirmed a significant difference (p < 0.001). This model effectively improves the ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information, supporting 21st-century literacy, the “Merdeka Belajar” (Freedom of Learning) vision, and SDG 4 on quality education. This research provides an empirical solution to the low level of critical literacy in Indonesia and has the potential to become a reference for education policies that are responsive to global challenges.
