Abstract

Research on improving student learning outcomes using concept mapping  strategy  on  hydrocarbon  material  in  class  X-1  SMAN  10 Banjarmasin has been implemented. This  research  aims  to (1) know  teacher’s and students’ activities, (2) improve learning outcomes (3) study students response to concept mapping strategy on hydrocarbon material. This research used classroom action research design, with 2 cycles. Subjects of this research were students of class X-1 in SMAN 10 Banjarmasin. Data were obtained from assessment of teacher activity, student activity, cognitive tests and questionnaire  responses. The results showed that the use of map concept strategy increased: (1) teacher activities, from good criteria in the first cycle to very good criteria in the second cycle, (2) students’ activities from good criteria in the first cycle to  very good criteria  in  the  second  cycle,  (3) students outcomes increased from   63.28% in the first cycle to 81.21% in the second cycle; (4) Learning using  map concept received a positive response from the students.

Abstract

This research relates to the impeimentation of Problem Solving model in Elementary School Banyu Landas. The research objective is to increase the students’ learning activity and teacher’ activity quality as well as to increase the students’ HOT (Higher Order Thingking) skills on geometry. The research is based on the classroom action research (CAR) through 2 cycles. The subject is 10 students of six class in SDN Banyu Landas. The data collection used students’ and the teacher’s activity obeservation sheets as well as achievment result. The data were qualitatively analyzed with percentage technique. The result of research stated that (1) the quality of teacher’s activity increased  from 58,41% in the first cycle  up to 71,14% in the end of second cycle; (2) students’ activity incresed  from 68,39% in the first cycle  up to 70,10% in the end of second cycle; and (3) the student’ HOT (Higher Order Thingking) skills increased from analysis skills 77,85% in the first cycle upto  synthesys skills 86,58% in the end of second cycle.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the character of eight grade students of SMIP 1946 in integrated Social sciences. The type of the data is primary data such as questionnaire result and secondary data such as documentation result and literature associated with the research. The population is all eight grade students of SMIP 1946. Banjarmasin consisting of 98 students. The research showed that 81 of students (81,9%) implement attitude reflecting religious character, 74 of students (75,5%) apply the attitude of respect and attention, 84 of students (85,5%) already have discipline on current regulation in school, 69% of students (70,2%) have implemented diligent attitude in learning, 70 of students (71,2%) had good coscientious attitude about work and taking a decision in learning, and 70 of students (71,7%) have a responsible attitude. Although, there is still little bit of students character that is not corresponds with the expectation. Therefore,  it is necessary teacher s role which is more leverage in terms of fostering students attitudes and behaviors .

Abstract

Research on musical of cells material through cooperative learning model has been implemented with the purpose: (1) Increase motivation to learn (2) Improve student learning outcomes (3) Increase the management of learning (4) Increase the activity of the teacher (5) study the response of the students. The research design is class action research with two cycles. Research subject were students of class XI Science SMAN 1 Upau totaling 17 students. Data were collected from test instruments, questionnary and observation. The research showed: (1) Students learning motivation increase. It can be seen from the score of sudents’ activitiy (4,51, very active) and the score of student motivation (4,53, very good;) (2) The improvement of students learning outcomes of cognitive aspect (classical mastery by 23,53% to 92,86%) and affective aspect. (3) Teacher learning management increased to excellent category (score 3,86). (4) Teacher’s activity increased to active (score 2,7%). (5) All students showed a positive response to the model.

Abstract

This study is a first stage of the research and development of the learning tools of problem based learning model. This study used a survey method to obtain data abaout implementation of learning science in elementary school, and student characteristics comprising cognitive styles and reasoning ability. Furthermore, the datas were analyzed descriptively as the basis of developing the learning tools. Tis study showed that: (1) learning science has been widely implemented the conventional approach and emphasized to the cognitif learning outcomes: “teacher explains the concepts, give exercise to the students, then test the students’ understanding, (2) teacher conducted investigation-based learning activities in learning occasionally and students are not familiar to discussion activities and communicate the results of their investigation, (3) science learning have not been considered differences of the students’ characteristics (4) students of elementary school with category C and B generally have a field-dependent cognitive style (FD), while students at school with A category distributed in all cognitive style (field dependent, field-intermediate and field- independent/FI), although the most of them with FD cognitive style and (5) majority of elementary students have the concrete reasoning abilities. Based on the above facts, science learning strategy should facilitate students to construct their knowledge meaningfully, train a variety of skills such as social skills, psychomotoric skills, and process skills as well as consider characteristics of the students, so that they they can learn optimally .

Abstract

It has been conducted research about the application of guided inquiry methods to develop students’ ability to carry out simple research on Scientific Method material in SMK 1 Pugaan. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), with research subjects 35 students of class X Mechanical Light Vehicle 1. The research instrument is student activity observational sheets, teacher activities observation sheet and student questionnaire responses. Learning was conducted in 2 cycles, where each cycle completed within three (3) meetings and exhibitions held at the end of cycle 2 work / work study students. Based on the results it is known that (1) the application of of guided inquiry successfully develop students’ research skills and understanding to make a simple research on scientific method material in class X Mechanical Light Vehicle 1 SMK 1 Pugaan Academic Year 2013/2014. (2) Overall student gave positive response to guided inquiry method, in which students agree that learning science with guided inquiry method appealing for students, making them easier to understand science, as well as help students when difficulties in solving problems.

Abstract

At the early periods of Indonesian education, learning English was usually understood as learning either American English or British English with all its specific features and characteristics. For the purpose of acquiring such kind of English, many Indonesian students were sent to either one of the countries by our government or native English teachers/ lecturers of those countries were invited to Indonesia to teach Indonesian learners English. This might be based on the belief that the English used in both countries is considered standard. It was believed then that only students who had acquired standardized English well that would be able to engage in international communication well. As time goes by, however, sending students to English speaking countries to learn English or inviting native English teachers/lecturers to teach Indonesian students English is considered ineffective and inefficient anymore. In addition, the policy of Indonesian government in the field of education stipulates that English is the first foreign language that should be learned by Indonesian students. As a result, the number of Indonesian students learning English is getting more and more in every academic school year. The consequence of this shift of policy necessitates Indonesian government to run the program of teaching and learning English domestically with domestic English teachers. The change of policy, of course, gives impact to the result of English learning. Students’ cultural and language background as well as teachers’/lecturers’ cultural and language background must contribute to the English yielded. The impact is the English used is inevitably influenced by Indonesian English teachers and Indonesian English learners. In other words, the English produced is not American English nor British English, but a local variety of English, Indonesian-English. This paper tries to explore and discuss the role of local variety of English as medium of communication in international context.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out about ‘Bambu Tonggak Bercincin’ media and its implementation in order  to improve learning outcomes of mathematics learning materials about KPK  and FPB in fourth grade. This classroom action research was conducted at SDN 3 Tanjung Kecamatan Tanjung for fourth grade students with 2 cycles. The subjects were 29 fourth grade students, consisting of 14 boy students and 15 girl students. The results showed that (1) there was an increase in mathematics achievement about FPB and KPK material on students after using ‘Bambu Tonggak Bercincin’ media in learning. The average of student activity increased from 65.92 in the first cycle to 93.75 in second cycle, (2) the average of teacher activity  increased from 83.34 in the first cycle to 97.88 in second cycle. (3) The average of  student learning outcomes increased from 75.86 in the first cycle to 93.10 in second cycle. By using ‘Bambu Tonggak Bercincin’ media in learning of KPK and FPB predefined indicators of success were reached when the average student activity was 79.83% with good category, the implementation of lesson plan/ the average of teacher activity was 90.61% with very good category, only two students who did not complete (6.90%), but the classical mastery reached 93.10%.

Abstract

Translating the text needs the capacity and the capability from the person who will be involved in that field. Translating does not only deals with the changing of words, phrases, sentence, and the like from the source language into target language. The activity of translating needs hermeneutics in order to get interpreting the text to be close to target language objectives. Text is not inanimate thing, but animate one that lives in its nature. Text is on the center of its readers. While being in the center of its readers, the text is doing the dialogue of meaning in inter and intra perspective.

Abstract

This research has the objective to find out the characteristics of earthquake so that it can be used to predict the preventive action for the people around. Based on the data analysis of earthquake in Manokwari Papua Barat, earthquake in January 3 2009 had the magnitude 7.1 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.705, longitude 132.84 and 25 km for depth.The cause of eartquake is strike-slip oblique moving to southeast, northwest. Earthquake in January 6 2009 had the magnitude 5.7 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.63, longitude 133.33 and 10 kms for depth.The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to northeast, southwest. Earthquake in August 2 2009 had the magnitude 5.9 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.444, longitude 133.06 and 10 kms for depth. The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to northeast, southwest. Earthquake in January 13 2010 had the magnitude 5.7 Mw with the epicentrum in lattitude -0.72, longitude 133.33 and 42 kms for depth. The cause of eartquake is reverse moving to orthwest, southeast.
