Abstract

Natural Science is a science that deals with how to find out about the nature systematically and not just a collection of knowledge of facts, concepts, or principles only. So, science learning must be carried out with three components of scientific works, those are scientific process, scientific attitude and scientific products. Classroom action research aims to improve student interest in science-physics learning in the topic Electrostatic using instructional media F-Charta and practice with simple materials. The subjects of research are teacher of Science Physics SMP Negeri 1 Banjarmasin (as researchers) and students of class IX E of SMP Negeri 1 Banjarmasin, academic year 2013-2014. The object of research is students interest in science-physics learning of electric static. The research consist of two cycles, each cycle consisting of two learning activities section. The result of research showed an increase in student interest, which 21.74% of attitude increase and 22.72% responsiveness increase from the first cycle to the second cycle. Based on the results of this research concluded that physics science learning of electrostatics using instructional media F-Charta and practice with simple materials can increase student interest in learning of IX E SMP Negeri 1 Banjarmasin in the 1st half of the academic year 2013-2014.

Abstract

The implementation of 2013 Curriculum brought some consequences, one of them is the school should have a good carrying capacity for the implementation of the curriculum. Ideally, scientific approach that used in 2013 Curriculum should be supported by adequate infrastructure. The main reason is in this curriculum students should be required to acquire knowledge through exploratory activities in the learning process and not only received from teacher. This study aimed to determine the availability of educational infrastructure and linkages with the readiness of 2013 Curriculum implementation. This study used mixed methods approach. The result of this study show that more than 95% of schools in Tabalong had not fulfilled the minimum requirements of education infrastructure as required under The 24th Regulation of National Education Ministry Year 2007 about the infrastructure of education. The lack of infrastructure has shown the lack of schools’ readiness to organize learning with scientific approach as the implementation of 2013 Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a model of learning “ CERDAS “ -based on Multiple Intelligences ( MI ) theory. The syntax consists of six stages which are Cermin Diri  (Self  mirror), Ekspose konsep (concept exposure),   Rumuskan Keingintahuan (curiosity formulation),  Dalami konsep (understood better the concept ), Akui Bakat (talent admission) and Simpul Ingatan (memory node). The effectiveness of the model seen from the model ‘s ability to develop students’ intelligence , adherence to the model , as well as science learning outcomes of  students in junior high school. The research uses R & D design consited of  several stages  namely problem identification, design models, design validation , design revisions, limited evaluation and revision of design based on the evaluation results. The development of learning devices based on the steps of Dick & Carey (2009). Validation of the model is conducted by five experts. The design of learning model  was tried out on a limited scale by applying an explanatory design with experimental design One - Group Pretest - Posttest Design at SMPN1 Banjarmasin. Validation sheet  of learning device, observation sheets of learning implementation and student activity,  Multiple Intelligence Test developed by Armstrong (2004), as well as achievement test are used as research instrument. The data analysis uses qualitative descriptive techniques and t test. Based on the results of this study is concluded that (1) “CERDAS” model feasible for use as a model for  developing multiple intelligences, improving student process skills and learning outcomes through syntax Self Mirror, Exposure concept, Formulate Curiosity , understood better the concept , Admit Talent and Memory Node. (2) Implementation of  “CERDAS” model develops multiple intelligences, science process skills, and concept mastery of the students. (3) Students give very good  respon for the model, especially for lab activities , application of process skills and talents Admit syntax.

Abstract

There are many on-line applications of CALL that can be used in the English language learning classrooms. These applications have a lot of advantages despite their barriers. Through the use of CALL, English learners are expected to be able to communicate across languages and cultures. It lets learners of a language communicate inexpensively with other learners or native speakers. Using CALL, teachers are not the only source of information any more, but act as facilitators. Moreover, students become active learners and they are encouraged to be explorers and creators of language rather than passive recipients. Therefore, this paper will review and discuss using internet in the classroom, in particular CALL, the benefits of employing CALL, the barriers that CALL presents in our language classroom, and the guidelines of using internet in the classroom.
