Abstract

The research was carried out to determine the effect of supplementary feeding in bali cattle to length dimensions of the calf. The research object used 16 bali cattle and newborn calf of bali cattle. eight calf of bali cattle from the cow who is given additional food and eight calf of bali cattle for the cow is not given additional food are maintained by farmers in Sobangan village, Mengwi district, Badung regency. The research was conducted by means of supplementary feeding in the cow after six months of pregnancy (during the three months before birth). The data analyzed by T test. The result showed that the size of the long dimension of calf with supplement feeding compared with feeding control not significant.

Abstract

These study aims were to determine the quality of bali beef and Wagyu beef stored at 4oC. This study used a completely randomized factorial pattern design. Meat quality parameters studied included pH, water content, water holding capacity, and texture. The results showed that the pH value of Wagyu beef and bali beef increased during storage at cold temperatures. While the water content, water binding capacity, and texture of both types of meat have decreased. Significant changes occurred in observations of the fourth day. It can be concluded that the storage of Wagyu and bali beef at 4oC was not effective for a period of more than 3 days.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui golongan senyawa kimia ekstrak etanol buah naga daging putih (H. undatus) serta pengaruh terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah dan rata-rata berat badan tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus) yang diinduksi aloksan. Sampel darah diambil dari 25 ekor tikus putih jantan (R. norvegicus) berumur 3 bulan dengan rata-rata berat badan 150-300 gram. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah berupa Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan yaitu tikus yang tidak diberi perlakuan (kontrol negatif), tikus yang diberi perlakuan aloksan (kontrol positif), tikus yang diberi perlakuan aloksan + ekstrak etanol buah naga daging putih (H. undatus) 2 % dosis I (50 mg/kg bb), tikus yang diberi perlakuan aloksan + ekstrak etanol buah naga daging putih (H. undatus) 2 % dosis II (100 mg/kg bb), tikus yang diberi perlakuan aloksan + glibenklamid 0,02% (dosis 1 ml/ kg bb). Setiap perlakuan diperiksa kadar glukosa darah serta rata-rata berat badan tikus pada hari ke-0, 3, 7, 14, dan 21. Sebelum diberi perlakuan tikus diadaptasi 2 minggu dan dipuasakan selama 16-18 jam. Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri dari 5 ulangan. Variabel yang diamati adalah kadar glukosa darah serta rata-rata berat badan pada masing-masing perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan jika terdapat perbedaan diantara perlakuan maka pengujian di lanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pemberian ekstrak etanol buah naga daging putih (H. undatus) 2% dosis  (50 mg/ kg bb) , dosis  (100 mg/kg bb) dan glibenklamid 0,02% 1 ml/kg bb secara signifikan dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah (P<0,05) hari-7 sampai hari ke-21, serta meningkatkan berat badan (P<0,05) pada tikus putih yang diinduksi aloksan. Hal ini menunjukan ekstrak etanol buah naga daging putih (H.undatus) dapat digunakan sebagai penurun kadar glukosa darah serta peningkatan berat badan.

Abstract

Plants kelor (moringa oleifera) has long best known to the public and has long been also used in traditional medicines and consumed as a vegetable and fodder for cattle. Flour leaves kelor itself has several substances hypotensif, anticancer, antioxidant, and antibakterial. This research aims to understand the influence of the addition of flour leaves kelor against creatinin levels and urea mice wistar blood. Sample used is 20 the tail of a mouse white galur wistar ( rattus novergicus ) the was 1-1,5 the moon and have weight 50-80 grams. Twenty the tail of a mouse wistar was divided into 5 the treatment group. The group differentiated based on concentration flour leaves kelor namely 0 %, 2.5 %, 5 %, 10 %, and 20 %. Data creatinin levels and urea analyzed use fingerprint variety of (ANOVA). If the real effect of treatment followed by Duncan test at 5% confidence level. The result of this research is on concentration 5 % creatinin levels decreased compared to the control group. In the 2.5 %, 10 % and 20 % have been kenaikan compared to the control group, but about 10 % lower than the 2,5 % and 20 %. While, on levels of urea group rtas serum a dose of 2,5 % and 5 % has experienced a fall in compared with the control group. Group 10 % an 20 % increased compared and control groups a dose of 10 % increasing significant.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the growth hormone profile of bali cattle’s whichwas reared in three different types of preservation areas in Bali Province namely gardens, fields andcultivated lands. The sample of this study was serum taken from 78 bali cattles which spread inthose three areas. The growth hormone concentration was tested from the serum using ELISA(Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). The results showed that the highest concentration of growth hormone of bali cattle’s in gardens was 3225,19 pg/ml and the lowest was 931,17 pg/mlwith mean was 1311,38±128,4. In fields area, the highest concentration of growth hormone was1852,91 pg/ml and the lowest was 906,22 pg/ml with mean was 1185,89±41,52, and in thecultivated land, the highest concentration of growth hormone was 5044,08 pg/ml and the lowestwas 1046,83 pg/ml with mean was 1927,64±246,64. This study concluded that the profile ofgrowth hormone concentration of bali cattle’s reared in gardens, fields, and cultivated land weredifferent. The highest growth hormone concentration was found in cultivated land(1927,64±246.64) and the lowest was in fields (1185,89±41.52).

Abstract

In recent years, groups of antimicrobial peptides, mainly produced from lactic acidbacteria in yoghurt has been used extensively in the health field as an antibacterial andfood biopreservative. This aims of this study to determine the physicochemicalcharacterization and antimicrobial properties of bacteriocin which extracted from theyoghurt. We used Saphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli bacteria for this trial. Weexamined physicochemical characters of the bacteriocin such as pH, thermal stability, andproteolytic effect. Also, we conducted the antimicrobial activties to S. aureus and E. coli.The results showed that the bacteriocin which extracted from the yoghurt could inhibit thegrowth of bacteria S.aureus, and E. coli. In order to, bacteriocin havephysicochemical properties, such as optimum active at pH 5, is stable against heating upto 121°C for 15 minutes, and sensitive to proteolytic enzymes

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria can excrete antimicrobial compounds like bacteriocins. The study aimed to find out the characteristic of physic-chemical of bacteriocin producing Enterococcus durans isolate 18A isolated from colon’s bali cattle. The study initiated by Gram staining and catalase test, followed by isolation and purification of bacteriocin. The result of the research showed that bacteriocins of Enterococcus durans isolate 18A as a protein with it’s concentrationis 0,272?g/ml and it does not contain carbohydrate. On the other hand, the bacteriocins was not showed a band while tested on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The result showed, the bacteriocin producing Enterococcus durans isolate 18A has antimicrobial activity to Bacillus cereus as 23,88%.

Abstract

The protein is one of the meat component. The exestence of the protein and amino acid willdetermine the charateristic and the quality of meat. The aim of the reseach is to know thecharacteristic of protein bands, composition and consentration of amino acid in bali and wagyubeef after boiled. This research was used bali and wagyu beef wich taken from femoralis biceps muscle. Meat size of 1x1x1 cm was boiled for 15 and 30 minutes, five g of each beef (bali andwagyu) extracted, subsequently analized using the SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulfatpolyacrilamide gel electrophoresis) method, in order to know the bands of  protein. While theHPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) metode was used to analize the amino acid. Theresults showed that boiled for 15 minutes of bali and wagyu beef appear five bands of protein bothbali and wagyu beef. While boiling for 30 minutes show four protein bands for bali beef, and just 3three protein bands for wagyu beef respectively. Results of HPLC showed both bali and wagyubeef contains nine types of essensial amino acid and six types of non-essensial amino acid. After 30minutes of boiled, the essensial amino acid decreases as much as 56,65% for bali beef and 27,37%for wagyu beef. On the other hands, the consentration of non-essensial amino acid for bali beefdecreases as much as 63,05%  and wagyu beef 67,17% respectively.

Abstract

Sapi merupakan salah satu hewan bertanduk dan tanduk berfungsi sebagai pertahanan diridari predator. Pada penelitian ini dicari persentase silak, dari berbagai ragam silak, yakni :silak bajeg, congklok, cono, pendang, manggulgangsa, dan anoa yang ditemukan pada sapibali di Pasar Hewan Beringkit. Penelitian ini menggunakan sampel 1000 pasang tanduksilak sapi bali dewasa, yang terdiri dari 500 pasang tanduk sapi bali jantan dan 500 pasangtanduk sapi bali betina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada sapi bali jantan ditemukantanduk silak bajeg (26,3%) tanduk silak congklok (1,6%), tanduk silak cono (9,1%), tanduksilak pendang (13%), sedangkan tidak ditemukan ragam silak manggulgangsa dan tanduksilak anoa. Sapi bali betina terdiri dari 3,5% silak bajeg, 0,1% silak congklok, 36%, 5,9%silak cono, 2,1% silak pedang , 2,4% silak manggulgangsa dan tanduk silak anoa. Silaktanduk yang paling banyak ditemukan pada sapi bali jantan yaitu tanduk silak bajeg,sedangkan pada sapi bali betina yaitu tanduk silak cono. Silak pada sapi bali bervariasi,baik dari jenis, ukuran dan bentuk. Silak manggulgangsa dan anoa hanya muncul pada sapibali betina.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to determine the influence of collecting frequency against concentration and spermatozoa abnormalities of quail. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatment groups, is collecting sement at 2, 3 and 4 days intervals. Each treatment is repeated 9 times. Observations were made on the concentration of spermatozoa (107 cells/ml) and abnormalities of spermatozoa (%). The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) if there are significantly different (P<0.05) followed by Duncan test. The results showed the concentration of spermatozoa in each treatment respectively 39.00±5.148 x107 cells/ml; 59.49±1.878 x107 cells/ml; 59.11±2.028 x107 cells/ml. Abnormality in each treatment was 14.22±1.394%; 7.22±1.202%; 7.49±1.130%. The frequency of ejaculation was statistically significant (P<0.05) against the concentration and spermatozoa abnormalities of quail.
