Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prevalensi infeksi T. gondii secara serologis pada kambing yang dipotong di Kampung Jawa, Denpasar. Sebanyak 300 sampel serum kambing dilakukan uji serologis dengan Indirect Haemoglutination Assay Test (IHA) untuk menentukan seroprevalensi toksoplasmosis. Titer serum positif terinfeksi T. gondii diukur untuk mengetahui tingkat infeksi yang terjadi. Hasil penelitian diperoleh jumlah sampel serum positif mengandung antibodi T. gondii adalah sebanyak 45, jadi seroprevalensi infeksi T. gondii adalah sebesar 15% dengan titer 1:32 sampai 1:4096.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know immune response of local bali duck post vaccination against Newcastle Disease, as well as the time required to form protective antibody titer. The research used completely randomized design with time as a treatment. The object of research was the serum of local bali duck. Blood was taken when pre-vaccination was done at aged three weeks old of the local Bali ducks, and then at the aged of four weeks old, vaccination was done subcutaneously. Post vaccination blood collection was performed four times in every oneweek intervals. The blood was taken from the cranial tibial vein by using 1 cc syringe. The serum was transferred to the Eppendorf tube. Then the antibody against Newcastle Disease titers were tested by using Hemaglutination inhibition (HI) test and expressed in Geometric Mean Titer (GMT) with units of Log 2. Antibody titer examination pre-vaccination was 0.83±0.408 Log 2. The mean of antibody titer at the first, second, third, and fourth week were 2±0.632 Log 2, 5.5±1.225 Log 2, 1.2±0.983 Log 2, dan 0.16±0.408 Log 2 respectively. The highest titer as well as was protective of the were reached in the second week post vaccination.

Abstract

Bali cattle (Bos javanicus d’Alton) is a part of the complex evolution of all cattle over a longtime in Indonesia. Little is known of the origin of bali cattle in Southeast Asia.  The geographicaldistribution of Bos (Bibos) types of cattle suggests that the centre of domestication was Indo-China and Malaysia, then spreading to Bali. Due to such several unique characters of bali cattle, someefforts have been conducting with main purpose to conserve purebred, draught as well as meat typecattle on Bali in particular and Indonesia in general. Method has been employed in this study areliterature explore, visiting, interview with questionnaire sheet. Set of efforts have been conductingin order to conserve purebred bali cattle by the government. For examples, establishment of balicattle Breeding centre of Pulukan village, establishment of bali cattle Breeding centre of Sobanganvillage, establishment of bali cattle Conservation centre of Nusa Penida Island,  essense of UdayanaUniversity, Bali and role of Department of Animal Husbandry. It could be concluded thatgovernment as a whole have played an important role in conserving the purebred bali cattle asdraught and meat type cattle at certain suitable places in Bali to fulfill local and national daily meatrequirement by establishing good collaboration with related government agency as well as farmers.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the comparison of induction, duration and recoverytime of anaesthesia with addition of premedication atropine-xylazine and atropinediazepamfor anaesthesia of ketamine in pigeon (Columba livia).Complete Random Device (RAL) was used to analisis. The total of eight teen of pigeonused for this study. They were divided into three groups i.e. (I) treated with ketamine : 75mg/kg of body weight as a positive control, (II) treated with combination of atropinexylazine-ketamine with dose 0,02 mg/kg of body weight, 4 mg/kg of body weight and 75mg/kg of body weight and (III) treated with combination of atropine-diazepam-ketaminewith dose 0,02 mg/kg of body weight, 2,5 mg/kg of body weight and 75 mg/kg of bodyweight. Data were analized with Analysis of Variance. (Steel and Torrie, 1989). Theresult showed that the anaesthesia of ketamine and the combination of atropine-diazepamketaminewas not resulted the induction and duration time of anaesthesia. That mean,recovery time of anaesthesia ketamine and the combination of atropine-diazepam-ketamineare 114,4 minutes and 138,1 minutes. The combination of atropine-xylazine-ketamine wasresulting the mean of induction 13,4 minutes, duration 82,8 minutes and recovery 139,6minutes. The result showed that no significantly different (P > 0.05) the time of recoverybetween the anaesthesia of ketamine, combination of atropine-xylazine-ketamine andcombination of atropine-diazepam-ketamine.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suplementasi vitamin E sebagai antioksidan dalam mengurangi efek samping deksametason pada paru-paru. Penelitian ini menggunakan 25 ekor tikus putih jantan yang dibagi dalam lima kelompok perlakuan, yaitu: kelompok kontrol negatif yang diberi pakan dan minum saja, kelompok kontrol positif yang diberi deksametason secara subkutan dengan dosis 0,13 mg/kg bb, kelompok P1 yang diberi deksametason secara subkutan dengan dosis 0,13 mg/kg bb dan vitamin E per oral dengan dosis 100 mg/kg bb, kelompok P2 yang diberi deksametason secara subkutan dengan dosis 0,13 mg/kg bb dan vitamin E per oral dengan dosis 150 mg/kg bb dan kelompok P3 yang diberi deksametason secara subkutan dengan dosis 0,13 mg/kg bb dan vitamin E per oral dengan dosis 200 mg/kg. Setelah diberikan perlakuan selama 14 hari, kemudian dilakukan nekropsi,. Organ paru-paru diambil untuk diproses menjadi sediaan histopatologi dengan metode pewarnaan Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE). Variabel yang diperiksa meliputi edema, perdarahan dan peradangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perubahan histopatologis pada jaringan paru yang berbeda nyata antara kelompok kontrol positif dan kelompok kontrol negatif, sedangkan perubahan kearah perbaikan pada jaringan paru tidak berbeda nyata pada seluruh kelompok P1, P2 dan P3. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah: pemberian deksametason dosis 0,13 mg/kg bb menyebabkan perubahan histopatologis pada jaringan paru tikus putih meliputi edema, perdarahan dan peradangan. Suplementasi vitamin E hingga dosis 200 mg/kg bb belum memberikan perbaikan yang signifikan pada jaringan paru tikus putih yang diberi deksametason.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to determine the effect of breed (bali cattle and wagyu) andperiod time at cold storage temperatures (4°C) of beef protein and amino acids charateristics. Thisstudy used the completely randomized factorial design. First factors were type of beef (bali cattle and wagyu) and the second factors were period storage at cold temperature 4°C (day of 0, 3, 7, and14). The bands of proteins were analyzed using SDS-PAGE method while the amino acids wereanalized using HPLC method. Data were analyzed by analyse of variance. The result showed thatthe storage time affected to the profil of protein bands of bali and wagyu beef after 7 days and 14days of storage, while the concentration of amino acids has been decreased. This means that theactivity of proteolytic enzymes in meat stored at 7 days was degrading proteins and affected thequality of meat. The conclusion indicated that bali and wagyu beef showed differencescharacteristic of protein (the thickness and number of bands) as well as significant differences ofthe amino acid Phenylalanine in wagyu beef compared with bali beef. The period time at coldstorage temperature 4°C showed real effect to the decline of the amino acid histidine, phenylalanineand isoleucine of bali and wagyu beef.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil mineral makro (Na) dan Mikro (Zn) serum sapi bali di lahan hutan.  Sampel berupa serum diambil dari 15 ekor sapi bali yang dipelihara di lahan hutan di Kawasan Hutan Taman Nasional Bali Barat, Kecamatan Melaya Kabupaten Jembrana, Provinsi Bali. Analisi  kadar mineral dilakukan di Lab.Analitik Universitas Udayana, menggunakan alat Atom Absopsi Spetrophotometer (AAS).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, profil mineral makro (Na) dan mikro (Zn) serum sapi bali yang dipelihara di lahan hutan mempunyai konsentrasi yang sangat bervariasi.  Rerata konsentarsi Natrium sebesar : 19,63 ±0,277 mg/lt dan besi : 0,33± 0,009 mg/lt.

Abstract

Toxoplasma gondii adalah parasit intraseluler obligat menyebabkan penyakittoksoplasmosis yang sudah tersebar di seluruh dunia. Mencit sangat peka terhadapToxoplasma gondii, sehingga dipilih sebagai hewan model untuk toksoplasmosis. Mencitsebagai hewan model dilakukan penelitian dengan menginfeksikan inokulat jantung danotak ayam buras. Tujuan penelitian untuk mendeteksi Toxoplasma gondii pada mencitsecara serologis dengan metode ELISA dan secara histopatologis dengan metodemikroskopis dan pengecatan Haematoxylin Eosin preparat histologi. Sejumlah 18 inokulatjantung dan 18 inokulat otak ayam buras berasal dari sembilan kabupaten di Bali,diinokulasi ke 72 ekor mencit. Hasil penelitian diperoleh 9 inokulat jantung positif pada 10ekor mencit dan 2 inokulat otak positif pada 3 ekor mencit, dengan titer antibodi serum 512– 1024 EU. Deteksi secara histopatologis pada organ hati, jantung, otak, ginjal dan paruterjadi degenerasi, peradangan dan perdarahan interstitialis. Tidak ditemukan sista padasemua organ mencit yang diperiksa.

Abstract

Trend of metabolic diseases like diabetes mellitus were growth up, with morbility and mortality rate are higher. Most of research about diabetes mellitus are used to rat. Experimental diabetagonic agent was use like aloksan and streptozocin (STZ). The side effect of STZ are less than aloksan. The purpose of this study was to see the response of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) male against streptozotocin agent to make the rats in the experimental conditions of diabetes mellitus. Injection of streptozotocin agent carried by intra peritoneal with dose of 45 mg/kg. White rats have sarver before induction STZ. Level of blood glucose are measure before induction STZ (day 0) and third day after induction STZ. The number of rats is 88 individuals. The results showed that rats provide a response to the increase in blood glucose as an indication of experimental diabetes mellitus which is indicated by a percentage value. White rats experiencing hyperglycemia as much as 54,8 % with the details of 21.5 % mild, 11.8 % moderate and 21.5 % by weight . These results indicate that a very precise Streptozotocin agent used to make experimental animals in the experimental conditions of diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to know the effect of mineral supplementation on bacterial counts of Escherichia coli (E,coli) and coliform on bali cattle raised in the highlands and lowlands.A total of 24 males bali cattle aged of 10-12 month were used in this research. The cattle wasplaced on highland and lowland, and receiving mineral spplemntation for a period of 3 months. The doses are: 2.5 g/head/ day, 5 g/head/day, and 7,5 g/head/day. The last unsupplemented group wastreated as the control. Faecal samples were obtained and grown on a culture medium by spread method to calculated the number of E.coli and coliform bacteria present in the sample. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance. The mean number of E.coli in bali cattle reared in highlands and lowlands of was 4.69771 cfu/g feaces and coliform at 5.0735 cfu/g feaces. The results showed that the mineral supplementation did not significantly affect the amount of E.coli and coliform bacteria in Bali cattle either reared in the highlands or lowlands
