Abstract

A study was conducted Toxoplasma gondii isolate from the brain and the heart of freerangechickens in Bali. The aim of this study to determine the seroprevalence andto isolate Toxoplasma gondii from free-range chicken heart and brain. To achieve of thisstudy observed 311 free-range chicken serum samples with ELISA method and examined225 free-range chicken brain and heart used digestion method. All of the samples takenfrom 9 districts in Bali. The results showed that the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondiiinfreerange chicken has 91.64%. Isolation of Toxoplasma godii from the heart and the brainfreerange chicken found the cyst on inoculate heart and brain, but by bioassay in mice for4 weeks observation failed to find tachyzoite form in peritonial exudat

Abstract

Provision of dexamethasone for the long term and large doses may cause disturbances in the brain. To prevent disruption to the brain, it needs antioxidant such as vitamin E. The aims of this study is to prove the administration of dexamethasone cause interference on white rat brain and determine the effects of vitamin E supplementation in preventing the side effects of dexamethasone in the brains of rats. This study used 25 male rats were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control was only given food and drink, positive control is given dexamethasone at a dose of 0.13 mg/kg bw, P1 given dexamethasone 0.13 mg/kg of body weight and vitamin E at a dose of 100 mg/kg bw, P2 given dexamethasone 0.13 mg/kg bw and vitamin E at a dose of 150 mg/kg bw, P3 given dexamethasone 0.13 mg/kg bw and vitamin E at a dose of 200 mg/kgbw. Treatment was given for 14 days, then the experimental animals necropsied. Brain tissue was taken and processed for making histopathology preparations using hematoxylin-eosin staining. Variables examined include perivascular edema lesions and congestion. The result found a significant difference between negative and positive control. The mean score improvement of brain damage was not significantly different between the treatment P1, P2, and P3. P1 treatment groups showed mean score approached the negative control. The conclusions of this research was the dexamethasone caused histopathological changes to rat brains. Supplementation of vitamin E up to doses of 200 mg /kg of body weight have not been able to reduce the side effects of dexamethasone on the brain.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the number of bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in fresh eggsand eggs in the salting process that is derived from UKM Mulyo, Mojokerto. A total of 24 day-oldduck eggs for the treatment of 12 fresh eggs and 12 eggs salting process. Examination of E. coli onthe first day, to eight, to 15, and day 22. Inspection is done by planting in the media EosinMethylene Blue Agar (EMBA). The results showed that the amount of E. coli on fresh eggs andegg salting increased on the first day until the eighth day, whereas on day 15 to day 22 decreased.Kesimpulanya that the amount of E. coli bacteria in fresh eggs and egg in the process pengasian increase until the eighth day and decreased on day 22.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penyuntikan  oksitosin sebelum inseminasi pada babi terhadap angka kebuntingan dan jumlah anak per kelahiran Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan dua kelompok perlakuan. Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor induk babi landrace induk muda (melahirkan antara 3-4 kali dengan umur kira-kira 3 tahun) yang sedang menyusui dan siap untuk disapih dikandangkan secara individu. Kelompok I (T0) Sebelum diinseminasi terlebih dahulu disuntik dengan menggunakan NaCl 0,9% sebanyak 1 ml secara intra muskular sebagai flasebo. Pada kelompok II (T1) Sebelum diinseminasi terlebih dahulu disuntik dengan menggunakan hormon oksitosin 10 IU (1 ml) secara intra muskular. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap angka kebuntingan dengan cara mengamati munculnya estrus 21 hari berikutnya, sedangkan jumlah anak perkelahiran diamati dengan menghitung jumlah anak yang lahir pada saat induk melahirkan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji t tidak berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penyuntikan oksitosin sebelum inseminasi pada babi tidak berpengaruh terhadap angka kebuntingan (P>0,05) dan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) meningkatkan jumlah anak per kelahiran.Kata kunci : oksitosin, babi, angka kebuntingan, jumlah anak per kelahiran.A study was carried out to determine the effect of oxytocin prior to artificial insemination on pregnancy rate and letter size in pigs. A total of 10 pigs were allocated to a treated group (T1) and control group (T0). Each group consisted of 5 animals. Animal in the treated groups received on injection 10 IU Oxytocin prior to artificial insemination. Animal in the control group received saline at 1 ml. The pigs were injected by intramuscularly in the neck. Pregnancy rate were monitored and litter size were determined for all animals. The data were analised by using t test. The result of study showed that the litter size of oxytocin treated animals was significantly (p<0,05) higher than that control group, but not significant on pregnancy rate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the distribution map Septicaemiaepizootica (SE) by gender in Dompu, Bima and Sumbawa. A total of 240 serum samples derived from three districts in West Nusa Tenggara used the study sample. Serum was tested by ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay). Data samples positive and negative SE, presented descriptively. The results showed that seropositive SE at 18% bulls and cows by 12%. It can be concluded that the incidence of SE in the bulls higher than cows.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun sirih merah (Piper crocatum) terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah tikus putih jantan (Rattus novergicus) yang diinduksi aloksan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 ekor tikus putih jantan  (Rattus novergicus) yang diadaptasi selama tiga minggu dan dibagi secara acak menjadi lima kelompok dan masing-masing kelompok berjumlah empat ekor. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Ada lima perlakuan yang diberikan sebagai berikut: perlakuan I sebagai kontrol diabetes tanpa diberikan perlakuan, perlakuan II sebagai kontrol negatif (aloksan 120 mg/kg bb), perlakuan III aloksan + suspensi ekstrak daun sirih merah 2% (dosis 50 mg/kg bb), perlakuan IV aloksan + suspensi ekstrak daun sirih merah 2% (dosis 100 mg/kg bb), perlakuan V sebagai kontrol positif (Aloksan + Glibenklamid 1 ml/kg bb). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun sirih merah (Piper crocatum) 2% pada dosis 50 mg/kg bb, maupun dosis 100 mg/kg bb dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah tikus putih jantan (Rattus novergicus) dan ekstrak daun sirih merah (Piper crocatum) 2% memiliki efek yang sebanding dengan glibenklamid sebagai penurun glukosa darah.

Abstract

Clustering study of bali cattle housing management in integrated farming system (Simantri) in Badung Regency aims to find out the components of bali cattle that have not been intensively carried out in group farmers (Gapoktan) in Badung Regency and to find out which Gapoktan has not conducted the Bali cattle intensive system in Simantri in Badung Regency. Sampling of bali cattle housing management was carried out by saturated sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed by Hierarchical clusters with dendogram cluster plot with intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive identifying variables. The results showed that 42 out of 50 Simantri in Gapoktan in Badung District have intensive management, stalling management components which are mostly carried out intensively include: cage roofs, food stalls, drinking places, cages, circumstances around the cage, and cage cleaning. There are 8 Simantri whose stalling management is still semi-intensive. The housing management component that is still applied semi-intensively was cage cleanliness. Counseling for Simantri members is needed to improve cage cleaning management.

Abstract

Pegagan merupakan tanaman herbal  yang sering dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat Indonesia sebagai obat alternatif untuk mengobati berbagai macam penyakit. Penelitian tentang toksisitas tanaman pegagan pada ginjal belum pernah dilakukan.Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya perubahan histopatotogi pada ginjal tikus putih setelah pemberian ekstrak pegagan (Centella asiatica) peroral.Tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus)sebanyak 30 ekordibagi secara acak menjadi lima kelompok, kelompok A sebagai control (placebo) yang diberi aquades peroral; kelompok B yang diberikan ekstrak pegagan 100 mg/kg bb (0,2 ml/ekor); kelompok C yang diberikan ekstrak pegagan dosis 200 mg/kg bb (0,4 ml/ekor); kelompok D yang diberikan 300 mg/kg bb (0,6 ml/ekor); dan kelompok E yang diberikan ekstrak pegagan dosis 400 mg/kg bb (0,8 ml/ekor).Nekropsi untuk pengambilan organ ginjal dilakukan pada hari ke-9.Jaringan ginjal selanjutnya diproses untuk pembuatan preparat histopatologi dengan pewarnaan Hemaktosilin Eosin (HE).Hasil pemeriksaan histopatologi pada ginjal tikus putih yang diberikan ekstrak pegagan, tidak ditemukan adanya degenerasi melemak, degenerasi hidrofik, dan nekrosis baik pada kontrol (placebo) maupun pemberian dosis 0,2  ml; 0,4 ml; 0,6 ml; 0,8 ml.Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwapemberian ekstrak pegagan (Centella asiatica) dengan rentang dosis 100 mg/kg bb sampai dengan dosis 400 mg/kg bb selama 9 hari, tidak menyebabkan gangguan histopatologi pada organ ginjal tikus putih (Rattus novegicus).

Abstract

Intensive shrimp farming was found many disease problems such as bacteria, viruses, or the presence of co-infection. One of the diseases was caused by viruses and often a major problem in the shrimp farming system was IMNV (Infectious Myonecrosis Virus). Bioflok technology was one alternative that can be done to overcome the problem of cultivation waste. Even able to provide more benefits because in addition to reducing inorganic nitrogen waste, can also provide additional feed for fish cultivation so as to improve the growth and efficiency of feed. The addition of probiotics in biofloc was also expected to improve the growth performance of white shrimp. This study was aimed to evaluate the use of bioflock combined with probiotics on the growth performance of vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This research will be conducted for 5 months. The treatment provided is the addition of commercial probiotics in culture medium with biofloc system and fermented pellet feed with various commercial probiotics, ie probiotics I + biofloc (1), probiotics II + biofloc (2), probiotics III + biofloc (3), positive control (biofloc culture medium and without the addition of commercial probiotics) (4), and negative control (without probiotics + without biofloc) (5). The results obtained for growth performance ie on treatment 2 with 80% of survival rate, the value of daily growth rate of 4.9 and the value of feed conversion ratio of 1.41.

Abstract

The research aimed to find out the influence of muscle type and longer storage of bali beef to the nutrition value consisting of five parameters included water, fat, protein, ash and carbohydrate content originally from the active muscle and passive muscle of bali beef. The results showed that the effect of muscle type was significantly against water, ash, protein and carbohydrate content of bali beef. Moreover, longer storage significantly affect to the water, fat and carbohydrate content. Ash, protein and carbohydrate content of active muscle were higher than the passive muscle, while the water and fat content of active muscle were lower than the passive muscle
