Abstract

Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the heritability of Heterakis gallinarum originated from Asian and European in local chicken. Heritability was evaluated by rate and intensity of infection after inoculation of infective egg of the worms. In total of 32 local chickens were used in this study. Sixteen chicken were inoculated with infective egg of H. gallinarum originated from Asian and 16 other chicken were inoculated with infective egg of worms originated from Europa. All chicken were necropsed until 3 months in old. The result of the study showed that egg of H. gallinarum originataed from Asian developed in 10 local chicken (62,5%) and egg of worm originated from Europa in 15 (93,8%) of local chickens. The average numbers of H. gallinarum originated from Asian and Europa were 9,75 ± 12,96 and 22,43 ± 20,45 worms respectively. The defferences rate and intencity of infection in local chickens were inoculated with H. gallinarum from Asian and Europa indicated the difference of heritability of the worms.

Abstract

Avian influenza (AI) is an avian diseases that can cause deadly humaninfection. The disease is caused by Orthomyxoviridae virus, genus influenzavirus type A,subtype H5N1. Pathogenicity of AI virus is polygenic, which means AI virus isdetermined by all the genes. Here the role of coding region (CR) and non-coding region(NCR) of polymerase gene complex is critically reviewed. The coding region of thepolymerase genes can be explained as follows. The amino acid position 627 PB2 gene isa factor adaptation of AI viruses in mammals. Polymerase basic-1 (PB1) protein acts as acentral activity of the enzyme catalyzing the viral polymerase. Polymerase Basic-1 bindsto the terminal end of the vRNA and the cRNA and shows endo-nuclease activity. Theactivity has been identified on the E508, E519, and D522. Polymerase Acid (PA) proteinsplay a role in supporting the biological activity of the polymerase gene complex, but itsmechanism of action in transcription, replication has not been disclosed as clear. Anotherrole of the PA protein is forming a complex of RNA polymerase and express anproteolytic role of cell proteins that suppress cell division. Polymerase acid gene has alsoserine protease activity has been identified at position S624. The non-coding regionmight also play role in the pathogenecity of influenza virus. The results of sequenceanalysis of non-coding region (NCR) at 5’-end of polymerase gene complex of AI virussubtype H5N1 from poultry and pigs in Indonesia showed that the NCR genes PB2, PB1and PA are homogeneous, whereas there are variants of the PB1 gene isolates from ducksA / Duck / Badung, 2006. Occurrence of deletions, insertions, and mutations in the NCRand CR polymerase complex genes may likely lead to genetic changes in viruses whichpotentially also change the nature of biology of AI virus. The study on the 3’-end of thegenes needs to be carried out.

Abstract

Skin tumors grow uncontrollably, invades the skin or soft tissue under the skin, can be benign or malignant. This research was conducted by analyzing risk factors : age and type associated with histopathological changes of 113 samples of dogs with skin tumors in Denpasar in 2008-2012 are diagnosed from the Laboratory Pathologic of Balai Besar Veteriner in Denpasar Bali. From this study, it’s identified 15 types of skin tumors in dogs in Denpasar, with respective prevalence were lipoma 28.32%, histiocytoma 10.62%, squamous cell carcinoma 8.85%,lymphosarcoma 6.19%, melanocytoma 6.19%, sebaceous gland tumors 6.19%, fibroma 5.31%,fibrosarcoma 5.31%, hemangioma 4.42%, hemangiosarcoma 4.42%, trichoepthelioma 4.42%,perianal gland adenoma 3.54%, liposarcoma 2.65%, mastocytoma 2.65%, and papilloma 0.88%.Prevalence of skin tumor in dogs in Denpasar based on the breeds and age’s wasn’t significantly different, it means skin tumor can spread either local and non local breed dog’s and can infect allages in dog’s. The histopathological changes from each kinds of skin tumors was different depended from the type of cells that grew uncontrollably, however generally they had unregulated structure with differential cell in various levels in chromatin, nucleus, and cytoplasmic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the microscopic changes in rabbit femur fracture healing post-implantation of the graft material demineralized powder bone of bali cattle. Twelve local male rabbits were divided into two groups randomly. Group A consisted of three rabbits used as a control, in which the diaphysis rabbit femur bones were drilled with a diameter of 5mm and depth of drill to reach the medulla, without giving graft material. Group B nine rabbits that were drilled the same as group A and given a powder bone graft. Monitoring progress of bone healing was done in a row against one rabbits in group A and group B three rabbits at week 2nd, 4th, and 6th post-surgery with biopsy for sampling bone subsequently prepared to see microscopic changes the bone with using hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. The results showed that the group B bone healing observ by reducing inflammation, proliferation of fibrolast, osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes, woven bone, trabecular bone, and neovascularization. In conclusion, the origin of the bone graft material bali cattle was able to induce the healing process of bone fractures in rabbits.
