Abstract

The globalization of science and technology continues, especially on social media. On the one hand, the benefits of various conveniences are also clearly felt to cause harm. The research examines social media laws and the limitations of their use concerning fiqh rules. This research includes normative legal research methods with a conceptual approach in the form of Islamic law principles. The study concludes that the original law of social media is permissible (permissible) and will change to be recommended if it brings benefits and change to be forbidden if it causes damage. However, the potential for harm in social media exists, so there must be limits to its use and regulatory restrictions, especially restrictions that apply widely in society through state policymaking. The research results can be considered when responding to developments in technology and information, especially regarding social media, so that we can use social media more wisely. Abstract

The Mamasa community has the Merenden Tedong tradition which is rooted in customary law as an effective conflict resolution model in resolving social problems. This tradition is deeply rooted and has become a unique cultural icon in overcoming social challenges and conflicts in society. The integration of this traditional approach with a formal approach from the government has strengthened the mechanism for mitigating socio-religious conflict in social life. This article aims to describe the integration between two conflict resolution models, namely the cultural approach through customary law and the structural approach through government policy, as an effort to mitigate socio-religious conflict in Mamasa. This research used a phenomenological analysis approach involving in-depth interviews. Informants consisted of traditional leaders, community leaders, government officials and community members to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Merenden Tedong tradition as a model for conflict resolution. This research found that the integration of cultural and structural approaches in the Merenden Tedong tradition contributed significantly to mitigating social and religious conflict. Collaboration between traditional institutions and the government strengthened the role of customary law in conflict prevention, proving that an integrative approach is more effective than a unilateral model. Further research is recommended to explore the role of the younger generation in maintaining the identity of Pitu Ulunna Salu as a conflict mitigation strategy. Abstract

First-time voters are a fairly large segment of voters. This shows that First-Time voters are a large resource in politics in Indonesia. Indonesia as a democratic country certainly expects every element of society to be actively involved in every democratic process, including the first-time voter segment. First-time voters as an important segment then have quite good political awareness. Through this political awareness, a pattern of political preference formation will then be formed. First-time voters as a large political resource are of course highly expected to be able to participate, at least voting in elections. So far, existing research regarding First-time voters only places as mere objects. However, this research then examines in more depth the patterns of political preference formation that will influence the political behavior of first-time voters. This research is qualitative research with primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with high school students as research informants. Based on the research conducted, it appears that First-time voters in Makassar City have quite good political awareness, which is an implication of their better political knowledge. So, when making choices in an election, First-time voters have a tendency to make their own choices based on their political preferences. The pattern of forming political preferences of first-time voters is sociology, rationality and psychology. Keywords: Firs-time voters, Political Preferences, Political Awareness

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) in fostering a sakinah family in Palopo City, analyze the obstacles faced, and examine the revitalization of the role of the KUA in the perspective of Maqāshid al-Syarī'ah. This research uses qualitative methods (field research) with juridical, sociological, and normative approaches. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the role of the KUA in fostering a sakinah family includes coaching and monitoring prospective brides, marriage services and administration, and providing premarital guidance. The obstacles faced by the KUA in Palopo City include limited professional human resources, inadequate facilities, lack of training related to family development, and mismatch between the educational background of employees and their duties. In addition, the community's low understanding of the importance of marriage guidance is also a significant obstacle. Revitalizing the role of the KUA in fostering a sakinah family does not contradict the principles of Maqāshid al-Syarī'ah, especially in the aspects of preserving religion, offspring, soul, mind, and property. Through marriage guidance, communication within the family, and conflict resolution based on religious values, the KUA contributes to the realization of sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah families as well as maintaining the quality of generations and overall family welfare.   Keywords: Religious Affairs Office, Family Development, Maqāshid al-Syarī'ah, Palopo City

Abstract

The phenomenon of traffic violations among police officers, especially at Palopo City Police Station, South Sulawesi Province, is an important concern in efforts to improve legal compliance and awareness. This study aims to explore the level of compliance and legal awareness of Palopo City Police personnel and analyze the strategies implemented by the Chief of Police in improving these aspects. The method used is descriptive qualitative with normative and empirical legal approaches. Data were collected through interviews, documentation, and observation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques, with data validity testing through triangulation. The results showed that the level of compliance and legal awareness of Palopo Police personnel still needs to be improved. Factors such as lack of legal education, weak organizational culture, and low internal supervision are the main causes of non-compliance. The Palopo Police Chief implemented strategies such as improving legal education and training, strengthening internal supervision, and applying strict and consistent disciplinary sanctions. The novelty of this research lies in the use of dual approaches, namely normative and empirical, in examining the legal behavior of police personnel. In addition, this research develops a strategy model based on strengthening organizational culture, and proposes community involvement in supervision as an innovation to improve accountability. By following these recommendations, it is expected that legal compliance of personnel can increase and public trust in the police institution is maintained.   Keywords: Legal Compliance, Legal Awareness, Police Personnel

Abstract

This research explores the communication of traditional sexual customs in Mandar society, focusing on practices related to sexual relations. Although these practices are an integral part of Mandar cultural identity, social change and modernization have affected their understanding and application. Using phenomenological analysis, this study identifies the symbolic meanings, values and changes that occur in these customs and seeks to understand the role of verbal and non-verbal communication in their preservation or transformation. The findings reveal that symbols in traditional sexual rituals still have important meanings, reflecting values such as respect, family honor and social harmony. However, there have been noticeable changes in the way these symbols are understood and practiced, especially among the younger generation, who tend to interpret the customs from a modern perspective. These findings contribute to understanding how cultural symbols adapt in a changing social landscape, with broader implications for cultural preservation and communication studies in evolving societies.
