Abstract

This study examines the impact of ProWritingAid, an AI-driven writing tool, on improving writing accuracy and increasing confidence among vocational high school students studying English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Indonesia. The study examines the difficulties vocational students encounter in creating coherent and grammatically precise argumentation writings, highlighting the necessity for efficient technology assistance in their writing advancement. A qualitative case study methodology was employed to gather data using semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 21 eleventh-grade students at SMK Al-Washliyah Sukra. Thematic analysis utilizing NVivo software was conducted to discern major trends in students' motivation, confidence, and challenges encountered while using ProWritingAid. The results indicate that ProWritingAid markedly improves students' motivation and self-assurance by delivering prompt, constructive feedback on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, together with progress monitoring that cultivates a sense of accomplishment. Challenges include restricted access to premium capabilities, the intricacy of advanced ideas, internet connectivity problems, and device limits were recognized as impediments to optimal tool utilization. Notwithstanding these challenges, the tool significantly enhanced writing precision, assisting students in generating clearer and more logical arguing compositions. The study emphasizes the significance of including AI writing tools as supplementary resources in vocational education, while warning against excessive reliance and highlighting the necessity for instructional oversight. The study's limitations encompass its brief duration, cultural distinctiveness, and dependence on a singular version of the tool, potentially impacting generalizability. Subsequent study ought to investigate longitudinal impacts, cross-cultural relevance, and the incorporation of new AI technologies to enhance writing education in vocational EFL settings.

Abstract

The integration of Information Technology (IT) into language instruction has transformed traditional teaching methodologies by providing learners with more interactive, personalized, and accessible learning experiences. This study examines the impact of IT tools, such as Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL), on language acquisition, learner engagement, and motivation. A systematic review of 25 studies published between 2015 and 2025 was conducted to explore the use of these tools in language education. The findings suggest that IT-based tools significantly enhance learners' vocabulary acquisition, listening comprehension, and speaking proficiency. Mobile applications and online platforms foster greater learner engagement through gamification, immediate feedback, and self-paced learning opportunities. However, the study also highlights challenges such as technological limitations, the need for instructor training, and concerns about over-reliance on digital tools. While IT tools provide valuable support in language learning, a balanced approach that combines traditional methods with technology is recommended to optimize educational outcomes. These findings contribute to understanding the potential of IT in language instruction and suggest directions for future research on improving the integration of technology in educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the lexical differences between Malay and Indonesian in the Malaysian film Melur untuk Firdaus. Although both languages are derived from the same Austronesian root, variations in word meanings, forms, and external influences especially from English often lead to misinterpretation in cross-cultural communication. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative method to identify and classify vocabulary that differs in meaning between the two languages and to identify Malay words influenced by English. Data were collected from 3 episodes out of 28 selected episodes using listening and note-taking techniques. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the study revealed 34 Malay words, such as Benda, Pasal, and Lepas, that are lexically different from their Indonesian equivalents, which have the potential to cause misunderstanding. In addition, 12 English loanwords, including Busy, Telephone, and Holiday, were identified as part of code mixing, reflecting sociolinguistic and bilingual trends in Malaysian speech. These results highlight the dynamic development of language and underline the importance of understanding lexical differences to enhance shared linguistic and cultural understanding. Although limited in scope to only three episodes and lexical elements, this study provides useful insights for educators, students, and translators studying both languages.

Abstract

Evaluation of the program is needed as study material for future decision-making. Thus, this research aims to evaluate the context, input, process, and product of the hunting tourist program implemented at SMK Berbudi Yogyakarta Class X with culinary, visual design, and beauty study programs. A qualitative research method was implemented in this research, using the CIPP model developed by Stufflebeam. Observations, interviews, questionnaires, and analysis of documents, both written and in video form, are used as data in fulfilling the CIPP aspects. The research results found that the program context followed clear planning and was under the school's vision. Input evaluation has played a good role, although some aspects need improvement and correction. The evaluation process has been carried out with an initial agreement with good procedures, although there are still aspects that need to be considered, such as time management by participants. Additionally, the product evaluation results have achieved the goals and positive impacts that were set at the beginning. Furthermore, further research can deepen the data on the development of teaching modules for tourist hunting preparation.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze errors in the use of derivational affixes in narrative writing by eleventh-grade students at MA Al Djufri Blumbungan Pamekasan. This study uses a mix method approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative methods. Data were collected from 22 student essays, which were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques to identify the types of errors, as well as frequency and percentage calculations to determine the most dominant errors. Errors in the use of derivational affixes were categorized into four types: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The results of the study show that misformation errors were the most dominant, with a percentage of 68%, followed by omission and addition errors, each at 12%, and misordering errors at only 8%. From this analysis, it can be concluded that the majority of errors occur in derivations that change word classes, particularly in nouns and adjectives. The findings emphasize the importance of strengthening instruction on the use of derivational affixes in writing instruction at the high school level to reduce morphological errors among students.
