Abstract

The phenomenon of women participation in entrepreneurship sector is rising significantly during the last decade. In reality, women still face many barriers in entrepreneurship both professionally and personally.  In 29 August 2019, Najwa Shihab delivered an inspiring keynote speech in Global Conference on Women and Entrepreneurship held by Alibaba and Lazada in Jakarta. Since Najwa Shihab's speech got many responses from the audiences, it is highly considerable to investigate the content of the speech from a linguistic point of view. This study aimed at analyzing the spoken text from Najwa Shihab’s speech through Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). For specific investigation, Appraisal framework was used in this study. The study focused on the attitude which relates to the feelings, emotion, reactions, and judgments of behaviour on Najwa Shihab’s speech about women and entrepreneurship. The design of the study was descriptive qualitative. The findings showed that the speech used 55 clauses which consisted of 27 clauses of affect (49%), 18 clauses of judgment (33%), and 10 clauses of appreciation (18%). All clause-complexes had attitudes. The use of affect dominated the percentage of attitudes. Furthermore, this speech also encouraged women to do 3 things: dare to change the paradigm of clichés and stereotypes into strength, dare to take a role in the national and global economy to ensure that women's voices and perspectives are present in every discussion and decision making, and support each other and bring the community that can empower other women.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the emotional factors and social skills that affect a child's speech delay. Speech delay is a problem related to the speech delay of a child compared to the speech stages of his peers. This research used a qualitative descriptive research type through the Single Subject Research (SSR) method. Qualitative descriptive is a method that provides an overview and interprets the meaning of the data collected through giving attention and recording as many aspects of the situation as possible during the research to obtain a general and comprehensive description of the actual conditions. In the aspect of the emotional condition, based on the observations, it was clear that a child with speech delay had difficulty in understanding the instructions. He/she did not really understand the instructions even with short and simple sentences. He did not understand the role of objects and the names of the days of the week. His/her logical ability to reason was deemed not so developed which made it difficult to understand the causal relationship between circumstances, failing to find a solution to solve a problem. He/she also did not understand abstract theories, such as antonyms and anonymous. All of this will ultimately have a negative impact on the child's social skills. Keywords: Emotional condition, social skills, child speech delay.

Abstract

This research is a disparity in women's leadership, especially in the context of Islamic universities in Indonesia. This is because women's leadership still faces many challenges, such as stereotyping and marginalisation of women, both in the educational, social and cultural spheres. This study aims to analyse and evaluate the leadership model of the female rector of PTKIN in implementing gender-responsive programs. This research is field research, namely field research using a qualitative approach. The data needed is the PTKIN rector model including the rector of IAIN Bukittinggi, IAIN Ponorogo, and IAIN Metro Lampung. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation, with descriptive and narrative analysis. The results of the study indicate that in implementing gender-responsive programs, namely planning and implementing activities, it shows that the three rectors of PTKIN, namely IAIN Bukittinggi, Ponorogo, and Metro Lampung, tend to be transformational-democratic. It is proven from the seven prerequisites that have been set that the planning of gender-responsive programs in its planning is moderate and open in accepting input, proposals and suggestions regarding the planning and implementation of activities as well as budgeting for activities from their subordinates. At the time of performance, they facilitated the administrative process, budget disbursement, and bureaucracy. While in the evaluation activities, although they are still said to be democratic and moderate, in the evaluation activities their leadership style is also a little permissive, an indication that they accept the evaluations carried out.

Abstract

ABSTRAKIn addition to bringing changes in every sector of life, the Covid-19 pandemic is a challenge for women. In difficult conditions, women turned out to have a role in strengthening the economy in the midst of the Corona Virus Disease-19 (Covid-19). The formulation of the problem from this research was how women manage to survive and contribute to the family's economic well-being. The study employed descriptive analytic qualitative research approaches. The data collection method was conducting interviews with women parking in Meulaboh, West Aceh, and combining them with their personal histories. This study also employed observations or monitors and gathered information from online journals, books, newspapers, and other sources. According to research, even when women's income was low, they still tried to work to make ends meet despite the covid-19. During the epidemic, the majority of respondents reported their income had decreased. Only for those who work at Pasar Bina Usaha, which is unsurprising given that the market was where the inhabitants of West Aceh get their most basic requirements met. They also wanted the government to assist them and pay attention to them while they faced difficult circumstances. Government policies, the commercial sector, academics, and the community must all work together to raise awareness of economically vulnerable women during the epidemic, to provide more gender-responsive support, and to involve women in decision-making.Keywords: The role of women, covid-19, the family economy

Abstract

Dual-characters hand puppet is the result of combining more than one ordinary hand puppet into a new-designed hand puppet. Dual-characters hand puppet is an innovative learning aid which can be used by teachers or adults with storytelling method which has many benefits especially in stimulating children's expressive language. Expressive language is the ability to ask questions, answer questions, communicate orally, retell what is known, learn pragmatic language, express feelings, ideas, and desires in the form of scribbles. The lack of variety of hand puppet design in stimulating children's expressive language is the basis of this research. This study aims to determine the feasibility of dual-characters hand puppet in stimulating children's expressive language development and to determine children's responses to the use of the media. This study uses an adapted research design from the Borg and Gall Research and Development (R&D) with six (6) stages of research. The results of this study indicate the media feasibility as of 94.5% and content feasibility is 93.7%, both of which are in the “very eligible” category to use. The results of testing the media to measure the child's response received the results as of 87.5% and 85% with the “eligible” category for use.

Abstract

This paper explains the disharmony of intra-Islamic religious life at the women Majelis Ta’lim in Aceh. Majelis Ta’lim as one of the local wisdoms in Aceh which is still practiced as a community school that educates women/mothers in the community. This should be able to become a pillar that strengthens the peaceful role of women. However, this becomes difficult, because of there is disharmony situation in religious interactions in the women's  Majelis Ta’lim. Whereas the peaceful energy possessed by women should be maximized to build intra-Islamic religious harmony. This study used a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques through interviews, observations and FGDs. The results of the study showed that there were three issues of disharmony experienced by women in the Majelis Ta’lim. They were 1) the immature attitude in responding to various differences in practice among members of PERTI, NU and Muhammadiyah, 2) the resistance of women's groups to the presence of salafi/Wahabi groups, which according to them, had taught a different understanding of religion and were not familiar with their religious understanding, and 3) the emergence of competition between the followers of the Teungku Majelis Ta’lim, both in terms of teaching substance and in terms of popularity, which caused disharmony. Keywords : disharmony, majelis, ta’lim, women

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the role division of husband and wife in dual earner families based on gender. Basically, gender roles can be defined as the social relationship between husband and wife and the social construction resulted from that relationship. The consequence is the roles division based on gender may vary between communities, but it can be analyzed by its types (patrilineal, matrilineal, and egalitarian). This research was conducted purposively in Seputih Mataram Sub-district of Central Lampung Regency of Lampung Province by survey method.  The research samples were 85 dual earner families, in which husband and wife of the family work as laborers in agricultural or agro-industry companies. The results of this research indicated that the family of agro-industry workers belonged to the patrilineal type family. Patrilineality in the family could be based on the division of family gender roles. Gender roles in the domestic sphere was  charged to wives and in the social sphere was charged to husbands. This happens because of the social construction process that has been going on from one generation to another. It could be proven, for example, by meeting invitations on social activities from the village office are often addressed to husbands. In the domestic area, the division of gender roles is based on the division of tasks based on gender appropriateness, for example the task of cooking is charged to the wife and the task of repairing the house is charged to the husband.
