Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between the corruption cases in road infrastructure and the quality of road infrastructure and its effect on income inequality in Indonesia. Using actual data on cases of road infrastructure corruption that have been in court and a fixed-effect data panel estimation model with standard errors clustered by island regions in Indonesia, this study shows a significant negative correlation between road infrastructure corruption cases and road infrastructure quality. This study also found a significant positive correlation between cases of road infrastructure corruption and income inequality moderated by economic growth. The finding indicates that the more corruption cases occur in an area, the lower the quality of road infrastructure and the increasing income inequality as measured by the Gini index (gini ratio).

Abstract

MSME is a sector that is able to support economic growth in Indonesia. The existence of MSMEs helps the government in absorbing labor. Current technological advances encourage MSME actors to be able to adapt to technology. Technological developments in the payment system are known as Fintech. The use of technology is a choice based on several factors, so the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of business location, education level, and type of business on the turnover of MSMEs that have used Fintech products, namely E-wallet as a transaction tool. This research was conducted in Denpasar City by targeting medium category MSMEs with a sample of 89 respondents, the instruments used were questionnaires and observations. Analysis of the data used in this study is 2SLS. The results of this study indicate that the variables of type of business, education level, business location, and decisions on the use of E-wallet have an effect on MSME turnover. Partially the independent variables that affect the turnover of MSMEs are the type of business, education level, and the decision to use E-wallet.

Abstract

The direction of globalization and the integration of the financial system continues to increase in line with the trend of increasing capital flows which is the focus of discussion in this research. This study applies panel data analysis to analyze banking behavior to improve its performance. The analysis uses a linear model and a threshold model—panel data from 1991 to 2020 in 39 countries. Threshold panel regression is a non-linear model applied in this study to prove a change in the impact of independent variables that affect banking performance in specific regimes. In general, the linear model Coef.icients are as expected according to the theory. Analysis using threshold panel regression will give more profound results and higher intuition. Threshold panel regression has a smaller SSR value than the linear model. This study applies one threshold value to produce two different regimes. Changes in the impact occur at a certain threshold. Conclusively, this study finds threshold values ??for GDP growth, Concentration, Inflation, Leverage, Efficiency, and Credit Allocation. The GDP growth rate as a threshold is the most efficient model. The Coef.icients on the threshold panel regression model generally are in line with theoretical expectations. Still, some differences become the advantages of this non-linear model, revealing different economic conditions.

Abstract

The problem that often arises in agricultural commodities is the transmission of price changes at the consumer level and at the producer level. This study aims to empirically test the transmission of red chili prices using static and dynamic models. The data used is a weekly series from January 1, 2017, to November 21, 2020. The results show that the red chili price transmission is symmetrical, where price transmission between consumers - producers is perfect. The increase and decrease in the retail price of red chili will be followed by an increase and decrease in the producer price of red chili. The red chili market is a competitive market, so government intervention is not needed to control prices, but must always be monitored to maintain a perfect market mechanism. Preparation of the food balance, projections of production and demand for red chili, improvement of distribution channel infrastructure and price information systems are strategies to anticipate price fluctuations and failure of market mechanisms.

Abstract

The current Covid-19 pandemic has resulted the downfall of world tourism, including Bali. Ubud, which is one of the main stars of Bali tourism, is being severely affected by the pandemic situation because of the dependency of the Ubud community on the tourism sector. Quantitative research is conducted and the data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents and supported by literature studies, observations, and interviews with informants related to this research. The results of the study found that social capital, economic capital, and cultural capital were in the good category and had a positive influence on the community resilience in Kawasan Wisata Ubud amid the Covid-19 pandemic. That resilience increases the people's optimism about returning to the tourism sector in the post-pandemic situation.
