This research is comparative and correlational quantitative research. With a sample of 355 students in 7 state senior high schools in Malang City. The data was taken using a questionnaire. The data analysis used is the normality test, different test, regression test, and correlation test. There are significant differences in the attitude toward nationalism in terms of various kinds of extracurricular activities due to the Amounting to 0.014 or 0.05. Data on the intensity of participation in extracurricular activities has a smaller value than the respective r table. It can be concluded that there is no relationship between the intensity of participation in extracurricular activities and attitudes toward nationalism.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of simulation-assisted teaching materials in increasing conceptual understanding of prospective physics teacher students about mechanical waves. Research method is a one-group pretest-posttest design with subjects consisted of 25 physics education undergraduate students at Universitas Negeri Malang. Research instrument is a conceptual understanding test item of mechanical waves. The results showed that the acquisition of an increase in learning outcomes through the calculation of the normalized average gain is 0.77 was included in the "high" category so that the use of simulation-assisted teaching materials effective in improving students' conceptual understanding. Similar learning can be applied to other physics materials, especially for abstract material characteristics.

Abstract

The use of ICT in language testing has recently expanded to more diverse computer-based exams. This includes achievement test like UNBK (Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer) and university entrance test such as SBMPTN (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri). thus, students need to get used to using this kind of test before taking a competency exam. The method employed in this study is Research and Development (R&D). Based on the process and results of the development of this English Computer Based Test, it has many features that can cover the difficulties in conducting online tests such as timers, anti-cheating, and other features that are always a challenge in online tests. Some features are not working normally like audio and also some bugs in the product. Furthermore, these products can provide insight into the effectiveness of online tests and can be adjusted to the needs of test makers.

Abstract

The aim of this research to explore the level of Locus of Control students towards learning physics and to examine the interrelationship between the dimensions of Locus of Control in Physics Learning. A total of 215 students majored in Natural Sciences Senior High School who as the participants of this study and were invited to complete the instrument: Locus of Control in Physics Learning (LOCPL). The Locus of Control questionnaire was developed from Rotter (1966) and validated through an Exploratory Factor Analysis of participants' responses and Pearson Correlation Product Moment is used to measure the level of interrelation between dimensions. The results show that first, the validity and reliability instruments used in the study have a satisfactory level. Second, the value of the construct validity of the LOC instrument that varies from the numbers 0.415-0.782 with a total variance explained = 60.674%. Overall the value of the Cronbach's alpha coefficient instrument gets 0.607 results. The LOCI dimension occupies the first position in the LOC factor level, followed by LOCII and LOCIII. Then the results show that the interrelationship between each of the dimensions Locus of Control are significant.

Abstract

Listening is one of the essential language skills, but previous research has shown that listening is one of the most difficult language skills to acquire. There are two main factors that can cause problems when learning listening skills, there are external and internal. Self-efficacy is one of the internal factors. On the other hand, English songs are said to be an effective medium for students to learn listening skills. The purpose of this study is to describe the ELE fresh graduate student’s habit of listening to English songs and their listening self-efficacy. The study is using descriptive study, there are 40 participants, and the researcher used a questionnaire and in-depth interviews to collect the data. The research showed that there is positive result from participants’ habit of listening to English songs and their listening self-efficacy. There are some main factors of English songs that help students to improve their listening, namely the lyrics, the exposure of new vocabulary, and the positive effect on students’ mood.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an important skill to acquire for students because it helps students to have a better academic achievement, study skills, self-efficacy, and learning motivation in a learning process. Teachers are required to have high level of knowledge about SRL to be able to teach SRL to their students. Thus, this study was aimed to examine teachers’ knowledge of SRL. This study employed a quantitative method using survey design involving 42 EFL teachers from junior and secondary schools in two districts in Gresik Regency. A knowledge test to measure teachers’ content knowledge of SRL (SK-SRL) and pedagogical content knowledge of SRL (PCK-SRL) was administered to collect the data. The result of this study showed that EFL teachers hold a moderate level of knowledge of SRL. This means that EFL teachers understand the general concept of SRL, various types of SRL strategies such as cognitive, metacognitive, and motivation as well as emotion strategies. Moreover, teachers also understood about the three-cyclical phases of SRL which were the forethought, monitoring, and evaluation phase as well as various activities in each phase. However, they still need more insight about how to diagnose students’ SRL competence and skills, and need to explore more various ways to teach SRL to their students.
