Abstract

Brain tumors have the highest percentage of thrombosis compared to other types of malignancies. Hypercoagulation is a risk for thromboembolic events in patients with malignancy. Hypercoagulation conditions are frequently found in patients with malignancy arising from the aptitude of tumor cells to activate the coagulation system. This condition can be detected through coagulation markers in the blood. This marker is PT, APTT, INR, Fibrinogen and D-Dimer. This research is a descriptive analytic study using secondary data from medical records of patients with central nervous system (CNS) tumors. The inclusion criteria were CNS tumor patients > 18 years old and had been diagnosed with CNS tumor. Coagulation markers are recorded based on the results of the initial laboratory examination upon entering the hospital, consisting of D-Dimer, PT, APTT, Fibrinogen, INR. There were 124 research subjects, consisting of 60 men and 64 women. Most research subjects are in the age range of 40-49 years (54.8%). Hypercoagulation conditions were found in 92.74% of study subjects. The most common accompanying condition was hypertension (22.6%). There were no significant differences in the hypercoagulable conditions in groups with and without accompanying conditions. Hypercoagulation was found in most research subjects. There are no factors that influence the hypercoagulation condition in this study.

Abstract

Production of natural rubber can have a detrimental effect on health. Hazardous pollution products from natural rubber industry are ammonia and sulfides which can be in the form of gas, solid/rubber crump, and liquid waste. These pollutants occur due to sub-standard PRPM management processes and the use of non-recommended clotting agents such as sulfuric acid, alum potassium, and Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) fertilizer. The natural rubber management process also uses machines that cause noise pollution. The impact of health problems that can occur contact dermatitis, hearing loss, respiratory diseases, and pulmonary parenchyma, and eye irritation.

Abstract

Preeclampsia remains the leading cause of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. The imbalance of interactions between the placenta, immunity and the maternal cardiovascular system also plays a role in preeclampsia. Early onset preeclampsia (POD) and advanced onset preeclampsia (POL) are thought to have different pathomechanisms, causing different clinical symptoms. One theory of preeclampsia is the occurrence of endothelial dysfunction. Endocan as a specific endothelial protein is also thought to have an effect. Various studies on the role of Endocan in cardiovascular disease have also been carried out, while its role in preeclampsia that occurs in pregnant women is still very minimal. This study aims to determine the role of Endocan as a specific endothelial protein in preeclampsia. The study design was cross-sectional. A total of 72 subjects (24 subjects each in the POD, POL and normotensive pregnancy groups) were selected by consecutive sampling. Enzym Linked Immunoabsorbant Assay (ELISA) was performed to assess the Endocan concentration. In general, there is no significant difference in the characteristics of research subjects. Endocan concentrations were found to be higher in the POD group, while in the POL and normotensive pregnancy groups there was no significant difference. Endocan can be considered as a potential marker of preeclampsia, especially early onset.

Abstract

Workers are required to receive Occupational Safety and Health protection. Work accidents can be influenced by physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychological factors. Natural rubber factory is one of the industries that have risks to these factors. This study used a cross-sectional design. Data analysis used the CHAID (Chi-Square Automatic Interaction) method. P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The results of the study showed that the average concentration of H2S in the air and in solids was above the quality standard and the average concentration of H2S in water was still below the quality standard. The average concentration of NH3 in water and in solids is above the quality standard and the average concentration of NH3 in the air is still below the quality standard. The results of the CHAID method analysis showed that glucose levels were associated with impaired liver function (p = 0.000; chi square = 48.766) and the risk of H2S exposure in the air with impaired liver function (p = 0.007; chi square = 7.944). In addition, 3 segments of liver function disorders were also found, namely Segment 1: Workers with abnormal BBS levels, high air exposure H2S; segment 2: Workers with abnormal glucose levels, low air exposure H2S; segment 3: Workers with normal glucose levels. Based on this segment, it was also found that the percentage of risk of experiencing liver function disorders were workers in segment 2 (36.3%) and segment 1 (17.4%).

Abstract

Emotional eating, or overeating to ease unpleasant emotions, is one of the harmful impacts of stress. Students in their final year of college are more susceptible to emotional eating because their stress level is high. The main purpose of this study was to examine the association between stress and emotional eating behavior in final-year Medical Education Study Program students of Universitas Sriwijaya. Data was collected in January 2021, with as many as 121 students from the 2017 class participating. The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire was used in this study to assess students' stress levels, while the Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (DEBQ) was used to assess emotional eating behavior. The Chi-square test was used to examine the data. Overall, this study discovered that 19 students (15.7 percent) were classified as having low stress, 82 students (67.8 percent) as having moderate stress, and 20 students (16.5 percent) as having high stress. Emotional eating affects up to 74 (61.2%) of students, with female students experiencing more. The Chi-square test yielded p=0.018 (p 0.05) and OR 3.282 (1.186-9.081) indicating a significant link between stress and emotional eating behavior in final-year Medical Education Study Program students of Universitas Sriwijaya.
