Abstract

 This research discusses the English code-switching that occurs in the drama Goji Kara Kuji Made, which is the source of the research data. This research aims to: 1) explain the code-switching that occurs in the television drama Goji Kara Kuji Made, and 2) describe the factors that cause code-switching and the function of code-switching that appears in the television drama Goji Kara Kuji Made. This study used the descriptive-qualitative method. The theoretical framework referred to is based on the theory developed by Holmes (2008). Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the factors causing code-switching are background, topic, the purpose of the interaction, and lexical borrowing. Meanwhile, the functions found in this research are solidarity, group membership, creating distance, quotation marks, emphasizing certain messages, affective functions, and filling lexical needs.

Abstract

In addition to functioning as a sign in Islamic tombs, tombstones can also be a feature that reflects a certain culture. This research was conducted at the Dampang Marana Tomb Complex, Lau District, Maros Regency. The aims to describe some of the diversity of cultural identities in the use of tombstones in the tomb complex. The research questions raised are how the types of tombstones used and how the cultural identity associated with the use of these tombstones. The explanation of the diversity of cultural identities in the Dampang Marana tomb complex provides information that at least there has been socio-cultural interaction between the local community living around the former power of Dampang Marana and outside culture. The research method is data collection in the form of literature study and field survey.  In the analysis step, comparative analysis and morphological analysis will be carried out.

Abstract

Mbecek is a culture that has been integrated with society. Mbecek is a culture that has developed and continues to be preserved by the people of Bandung Village to this day. This tradition is routinely carried out by the people of Bandung when they hold a big event involving the local community as a sign that they have a big intention. The results of the study explain that the Mbecek Tradition carried out by the people of Bandung Village has several benefits including the Value of Solidarity, namely by carrying out this tradition the social ties of the community unite from various groups. The theological value is that they are grateful by carrying out the Mbecek Tradition as a form of expression of gratitude by maintaining good relations with God. T

Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of one of the fairy tales originating from the Manggarai area, entitled Raja Nggopet ke Congkar. The research method used is critical discourse based on Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutical concept. This study found that this fairy tale basically explores the urgency of a critical attitude in addressing the realities of everyday life. This attitude is very important for Manggarai people in receiving and welcoming guests who come to the village. Meanwhile, for the Indonesian people in general, it is absolutely necessary to have a critical attitude in order to be able to respond wisely to the phenomena that occur in everyday life, namely: first, the phenomenon of product promotion and various other things that circulate widely on social media and in society; secondly, the phenomenon of imagery and utopian promises from legislative or executive candidates who will compete in elections.

Abstract

This objective of this study is to explore Edna’s effort to deal with the perspective of Creole society in the Awakening Novel. This research used descriptive qualitative method in order to analyze the novel. In addition, the research applied the social perspective approach with the use of Berger’s theory. The result of this research shows that Creoles believe that women are feeble, should maintain silence, and submit to their husband's authority. Edna faces difficulties in her efforts to establish her Creole identity as a victim of discrimination, Edna gradually reveals her response to patriarchy and then Edna’s efforts is she defies Creole norms by falling in love with Robert Lebrun, sending her children to live with their grandmother, leaving her husband's home, and having an affair based solely on physical attraction with Alcee Arobin before committing suicide. Abstract

The research aims to find out the shape of Japanese bunkers, the factors of bunker placement. the research uses survey methods, observation, supported by interviews and library data. the survey was carried out observing the surface of the land containing archaeological remains based on the results of the interpretation of old maps and aerial photographs obtained from library data. observation is carried out on the remains found, this stage includes description, documentation, and plotting. The analysis used morphological and contextual analysis. The results of the study, there are 56 bunkers which are divided into 5 forms of bunkers. Z, I, U, L, and b.5 forms of bunkers, classified into several parts in the form of Z 3. form I 4. Form U 3. L and B-shaped bunkers found 1 form. The placement of bunkers is influenced by environmental and safety factors.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the use of viral vocabulary as a keyword in a strategy of creating clickbait in a podcast video. This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology. The data are the linguistic features in the title and thumbnail of the podcast videos as well as the number of views it gets obtained from the Deddy Corbuzier and CURHAT BANG Denny Sumargo YouTube channels that was taken from July to December 2022 using reading and note-taking techniques. The process of data analysis consisted of selecting the vocabulary associated with a viral issue as a clickbait keyword. Then, the data will be compared with the 2022 search trend results. The study's findings indicate a connection between the use of viral keywords in clickbait and the amount of views a podcast video receives. The choice of keywords and when to utilize them are crucial factors in getting viewers.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the hetero-stereotypes that appear in the film series "Emily in Paris" Season 1. The romantic comedy film series Emily in Paris Season 1 raises inaccurate cultural stereotypes about groups of French society who come from other social groups. Hetero-stereotype is a form of cultural stereotype. Hetero-stereotype refers to stereotypes that are held related to other groups. Hetero-stereotype refers to a group's perception of the traits, characteristics, or values of members of another group with a tendency to define other people as having rigid ethnic characteristics and generalize about other groups (Pastor: 2013). The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The findings of this research gave rise to 2 (two) forms of cultural stereotypes, namely positive and negative hetero-stereotypes.

Abstract

The study has revealed significant associations between built factors and property crimes. Factors such as strong locks, security gates, security cameras, lighting conditions, visibility, and access points are identified as key determinants of property crime rates. The results suggest that improving lock security measures, installing security gates and cameras, enhancing lighting conditions, and increasing visibility can effectively reduce the incidence of property crimes. The findings contribute to the existing body of knowledge on crime prevention and urban planning, providing valuable insights for policymakers, urban planners, and law enforcement agencies. The study recommends the implementation of targeted interventions and strategies to mitigate property crimes and create safer urban environments in Sri Lanka. Further research is encouraged to explore additional factors and develop comprehensive frameworks for crime prevention in urban settings.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the source of the metaphors found in the translated novel Perempuan di Titik Nol and the correspondence between the source domain and the target domain in the novel Perempuan di Titik Nol. The data in this research are in the form of words, sentences, and expressions that are indicated as metaphors in the translated novel Perempuan di Titik Nol by Amir Sutaarga. The results of this research reveal that six types of source domains have been identified, four types of transmission that appear in the translated novel Perempuan di Titik Nol. The metaphors in this novel play a role in bringing concepts that are difficult to understand into the real world through the use of concrete objects so that readers can better connect with the meaning the translator wants to convey.
