Introduction: Teeth injury is a pathological changes in dental hard tissues of the teeth with or without accompanied by damage to surrounding tissue. There are various kinds of trauma to the teeth, one of them is crown fractures. Primary anterior teeth crown fractures is common in children. The aim was to obtain the prevalence of primary anterior teeth crown fractures. Methods: The research was a descriptive study with survey technique. The samples were chosen by cluster random sampling technique. The samples were 315 children who enroll in Early Childhood Education Institution in Cimahi consisting of 139 boys and 176 girls. The prevalence was counted by dividing the numbers of Early Childhood Education students who suffered from crown fracutres with the total numbers of Early Childhood Education students at Cimahi and multiply by a hundred percent. Result: Prevalence of primary anterior teeth crown fractures in Early Childhood Education students in Cimahi is 5.1%. Conclusion: Prevalence of primary anterior teeth crown fractures in Early Childhood Education students in Cimahi is less than a quarter of the total samples.

Abstract

Introduction: Every individual has a different lip print pattern that facilitates personal identification. Every individual has the physical characteristics that are different from other individuals. The physical characteristics can be an identity for the individual. The purpose of this research was to investigate the lip print pattern among Deutromalayan subrace with a modification of lip print formulation technique. Methods: A descriptive research was conducted among 82 male and female students of 2008 batch students of Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Padjadjaran. The research was an observation of lip print from each subject in the digital view from the scanning of a lip seal. The observation was carried out on all parts of the fissure in the subject’s lip print. The data was then analysed to a lip print pattern formulation based on fingerprint formulation. Results: Lip print pattern of Deutromalayan subrace was different among each other and clarified in a formulation consisted of elements from the central fissure type, amount of median fissure, fissure tracing and all lip print type. Conclusion: Lip print pattern among Deutromalayan subrace was identified by modification of lip print formulation technique that was clarified on the formulation.

Abstract

Introduction: Expansion appliance that can imply tooth movement and opening maxilla suture might affect the blood vessels, bone cells, and formation of the new bone. HBOT accelerated the rate of osteoblast differentiation leading to an increase in bone formation during osteonecrosis. Research about HBOT during maxillary suture expansion has never been investigated. The purpose of this research was to correlate the blood vessels number, osteoblast by administered 2.4 ATA HBOT from day 8-14 to imply new bone formation during maxillary suture expansion. Methods: Eighteen male guinea pigs with randomised post-test only control group design divided into 3 groups. Negative control group K(-), positive control with expansion appliance K(+), expansion appliance and HBOT (P). After 14 days guinea pigs were decapitated. Histological slide of the blood vessels number, osteoblast, and new bone formation were examined under a light microscope then were analysed by regression test. Results: Descriptive test showed increasing blood vessels number, osteoblast, and new bone formation on the administration of HBOT during maxillary suture expansion. Regression test showed that there was a strong correlation between the blood vessels number and osteoblast to the new bone formation with R=6.95 during maxillary suture expansion. Conclusion: 2.4 ATA HBOT influences the intercausal relationship between increasing blood vessels number, increasing osteoblast, and new bone formation during maxillary suture expansion.

Abstract

Introduction: Density of mandible trabeculae is defined as density of trabeculae at posterior region of mandibulae. Systemic diseases which can affect bone density are osteoporosis and many types of anemia, including which has significant influence that is beta thalassemia major. The objective of this investigation was to obtain the data of density in mandible trabeculae of beta thalassemia major patients at the age of 11-13 years. Methods: The descriptive method was used in this study and the samples were selected using the total sampling technique. 15 periapical photos were obtained using the total sampling echnique. The periapical photos are administered using 3D-Doctor software. Data were analyzed using simple mean value formula. Results: Statistical count resulted in the minimum score of sample which was 98, 039 grayscale, the maximum score of sample which was 231, 34 grayscale, and the range score of sample which was 126.503 grayscale Conclusion: Density of mandible trabeculae of thalassemia beta major patients at the age of 11-13 is 126.503 grayscale.

Abstract

Introduction: The disparity of tooth dimension and human organ between the race and the other one is determined by heredity. On the identification of dead victims of mass through the teeth have a high contribution in determining one’s identity. The study carried out to find out the dimension disparity of upper jaw centralist insisivus and the nose size between Batak and Sundanese and the correlation in a wide selection of programs in helping odontology forensic investigation of mass disasters. Methods: It is a comparative descriptive research. Total samples are 40, consisting of 20 Batak women (group 1) and 20 Sundanese women (group II) aged 18-30 years old. Result: The t-test result shows that p score of insisivus dimension is 11.21 and nose size of Batak and Sundanese about 0.000, 0.000, and 0.016. By correlation test of insisivus 11 and 21 with nose size of Batak, the correlation level is 0.851 and 0.925. The correlation test of insisivus 11 and 21 with the nose size of Sundanese, the correlation level is 0.947 and 0.949. Conclusion: There is a dimension disparity of upper jaw centralis insisivus and nose size between Batak and Sundanese and the correlation. It is in accordance with the statement that race shows the change of the human race because of the influence of the physical form of individuals, such as the shape and size of the teeth, which followed the growth in other parts of the body.

Abstract

Introduction: Vitamin C lozenge can increase pH saliva. Increasing saliva pH is cause saliva works as a buffer that can neutralize the acidity of vitamin C. The purpose of this research was to find  the difference saliva pH before and after sucking vitamin C tablet. Methods: The research was carried out with quasi-experiment, using purposive sampling method and Paired t Test. This research was conducted on 30 students of the Faculty of Dentistry of Padjadjaran University, ranging 18-23 years of age. The research was carried out by measuring salivary pH before and after sucking vitamin C tablet. Results: Research result indicates that the average difference of salivary pH after sucking vitamin C tablet is 0.42 with standard deviation ±0,189. From statistic results   T calc 12,282 > T table 2,05  Ho is rejected, H1 is accepted.
