Abstract

This article focuses on discussing the polemic about the establishment Church in Cilegon which has never been resolved. Minority communities are hampered in realizing religious freedom. They are subjugated by cultural, social and political conditions and groups who firmly oppose the Church's presence in Cilegon. We use descriptive qualitative research methods which are useful for exploring the main problem in a holistic manner. The theory used is freedom and plurality by Hannah Arendt. This research show that the concept of plurality and freedom of worship for non-Muslim communities has not been fully implemented due to pressure from conservative groups. This illustrates that the condition of representation of living together is only limited to drinking coffee with Muslim. But, on the basic understanding that every human being as a unique person is entitled to a freedom. The political dynamics in Cilegon also look very conservative, the political elites have no sensitivity towards minority groups. They are completely reluctant to leave their comfort zone, because the elites in the city do not strive for justice for minorities. The practice of plurality and conditions of freedom of worship have not been fully realized in the current living conditions of Cilegon society.

Abstract

This research examines music copyright as partial welfare efforts and royalty polemics in the music industry. The study aims to analyze how music industry actors perceive state existence in music copyright protection as state obligations toward citizen rights. Rogers M. Smith's citizenship theory is employed to construct musicians' citizenship through copyright protection struggles. Using qualitative phenomenological methods with transcendental phenomenology approach, findings reveal musicians view copyright protection as fundamental needs encompassing piracy protection, data system transparency, economic rights guarantee, and creativity appreciation. Musicians actively advocate their rights through organizations, yet face challenges of legal uncertainty evident in royalty dispute cases, and inclusion-exclusion dialectics where reality shows massive copyright violations persist, uneven education, and unfair royalty distribution systems. The research concludes the state is absent in providing adequate facilities, requiring strengthened state role as facilitator to ensure music copyright protection as integral part of citizenship rights.

Abstract

Background This study aims to analyze the inequality of power relations in the conflict of burning chicken farms in Padarincang from the perspective of the power cube. The background of environmental problems due to chicken farming activities and advocacy that was not responded to by various government agencies created an accumulation of frustration that encouraged extreme acts of burning chicken farms. Methods This research uses John Gaventa's Power Cube theory and uses qualitative research methods with John Creswell's hermeneutic phenomenology approach. Results The results of the research found that the hierarchical structure of the corporation shows the connectedness of local to global actors. This conflict illustrates the transformation of closed spaces into open spaces through community struggles and various forms of power from visible power in the form of company licenses, arrests and demonstrations.   Conclusions Hidden power in the form of lobbying and chicken hotel narratives, the issue of arresting mothers, hoax news to invisible power in the form of internalization of the community over the developing narrative and ideology of economic development. The complex inequality of power relations between the community and PT STS creates marginalization, injustice, legal disparities that continue to envelop the community in fear.

Abstract

This article explores the experiences and interpretations of several individuals with disabilities regarding accessibility barriers, lack of information, and social support and affirmative justice policies during the election. We employed a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. The results indicate that the main obstacles faced by individuals with disabilities include a lack of disability-friendly facilities at polling stations (TPS), minimal inclusive election outreach, and social stigma that reduces their confidence in participating. Furthermore, limited transportation and dependence on guardians also impact their ability to vote independently. This study recommends that election organizers improve inclusive political education, provide accessible facilities, and train election officials to understand the needs of individuals with disabilities. This will increase voter participation for individuals with disabilities and support the realization of an inclusive and equitable democracy. The novelty of this study lies in application of Creswell’s transcendental phenomenology, to explore the lived sxperiences of voters with disabilities in Cilegon City. This sudy integrating theoretical framework of group differentiated justice, more nuanced copceptualization of how disabled individuals perceive fairnesss, accessibility and political agency. This research contributes original empirical insights by demonstrating barriers to electoral participation not solely structural, but deeply shaped by subjective experiences, tahat remain underexplored in existing Indonesial political behavior research.

Abstract

This article discusses how digital transformation has driven a shift in prostitution promotion practices from traditional to digital. This article focuses on the digital application called MiChat, a chat application frequently used by sellers and buyers. This study aims to analyze online prostitution practices and understand how women commercial sex workers (CSWs) who use the MiChat application interpret and negotiate power over their bodies amidst economic pressures, social stigma, and weak legal protection. This study uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences of female CSWs as research subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with female CSWs who use MiChat, non-participant observation, and documentation. The results indicate that online prostitution is interpreted as a survival strategy and a space for relative bodily autonomy. Female CSWs have control over their working hours, client selection, and setting service boundaries through digital media. However, this power over their bodies is unstable due to limitations imposed by social stigma, the risk of violence, and unclear legal status.

Abstract

The barriers in expressing political missions for women politicians are due to the dominance of patriarchal structures. This article aims to discuss the dialectic of political expressionism of Banten women politicians amidst the paradox of patriarchy in the organization of political parties and their existence in parliament. Political expressionism is a perspective that attempts to describe the expression of political attitudes and ideas that tend to be emotional and reflective. Therefore, the political expressionism of women politicians is an expression of sentimental political attitudes and ideas of women politicians due to the mental pressure of double burdens, gender discrimination and symbolic violence. A qualitative approach with a transcendental phenomenological is used to explain the "common meaning of their lived experience" of 12 women politicians (Party chairpersons, members of the provincial and district/city DPRD, and legislative candidates who failed to be elected). We use coding analysis of Creswell’s phenomenology specifically epoche, significant statement, meaning unit, textural and structural description.  The findings of this research are: First, women politicians are able to provide new meanings and values in political dynamics based on the manifestation of their political expressionism. The focus of the political expression of women politicians in Banten are four forms, namely resistence, conformity, existence, dan subservience; Second, the models of patriarchal paradox that makes women subordination, violence and double burdens (face the dilemma of dual identity in the public and domestic spheres), are successfully negotiated by the struggle of women politicians through authentic communication and expression strategies that increase the legitimacy of the role of women politicians. This research contributes to the development of political science through the combination with the discipline of art "expressionism" and a gender perspective in dissecting the power relations between the existence of women politicians and the discourse of the patriarchal paradox.
