Abstract

The development of technology and information in the global era will have a major influence on human life. Modernist culture has become the choice of the wider community over conventional cultures. Sometimes society loses the social glue that has been the root of culture, which is replaced with the emergence of social media. Apart from that, the development of this technology also has a bad influence on moral ethics, norms and rules in society. However, this development also provides positive insight into the emergence of new leaders, especially leaders in the spiritual world or pastoral leaders who must maintain their integrity. The methodology in this writing uses an exposition approach by paying attention to the verses of God's word contained in 2 Timothy 2:14-25, to get practical application from the figure of a pastoral leader with integrity who keeps his life in accordance with the truth of God's word and by asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that he can protect accountability which has a good influence in the postmodern world.

Abstract

Abstract

This article is designed with the aim of tracing Esther's example in suing for justice in the face of power. Queen Esther's courage in the Book of Esther, especially her action against King Ahasuerus without an invitation, is a representation of courage against potential injustice. Queen Esther's courage was not blind courage but courage with wise strategy. This study looks at how Esther's actions have affected modern leadership and how courage and wisdom can serve as examples for Christian communities and leaders today. This study can inspire modern leadership to dare to declare an injustice lawsuit against the rulers. The research uses the method of religious research to respond to the injustice in the face of power that threatened the Jewish nation under the rule of King Ahasuerus. The results of this study show that fighting injustice must be accompanied by a wise strategy and trust in God's providence for the Jewish nation by returning to moral principles and values. This research contributes in the form of a theological reflection for Christian women to emulate Esther in facing injustice in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract: This article specifically discusses how hermeneutics studies the correlation between Abraham's sacrifice and Jesus' sacrifice. This topic is elaborated by the author based on the author's attention to the difference of opinion among believers regarding Abraham's sacrifice, which is a typology of Jesus' sacrifice. The difference of opinion is marked by the view that the typology of Jesus' sacrifice is Ihsak, but there are also those who agree that the typology of Jesus' sacrifice is the sheep. All of these opinions share the same biblical basis as a theological basis for the relationship between Abraham's sacrifice and Jesus' sacrifice. On this basis, the author uses the literature study method with an exegesis approach. The purpose of this study is to connect the common thread of Abraham's sacrifice and its relationship to Christ's sacrifice. By explaining, it gives an understanding that God's plan of salvation for sinful man through His Son was long prophesied in the Old Testament. The findings of this topic reveal that the Old Testament through the New Testament broadly tell of the prophecy and fulfillment of Jesus' sacrifice.

Abstract

The idea for writing this scientific work came from the author's ministry experience, which often encountered questions about the inerrancy of the Bible, especially regarding the authenticity of 1 John 5:7-8 or the Comma Johanneum. The purpose of writing this scientific work is to find evidence that 1 John 5:7-8 is the Word of God revealed to the apostle John. The method used in this writing is a qualitative method with a literature study approach. From this research, evidence was found that, although the Comma Johanneum is not found in ancient Greek texts, this verse can be traced to an ancient Latin document called the Vetus Latina and from the writings of the church fathers, namely Tertullian, Ciprian, Athanasius, Origen, Augustine , Pricilian, Jerome, Gregory Nazianus and Johanes Chrisostomos whose writings still exist and have been preserved to this day. Thus the accusation that this verse is fake or a hoax has been successfully refuted.

Abstract

This scientific study aims to explore the meaning of true worship according to John 4:23 and its relation to knowing God. True worship must be grounded in the three essential aspects of the Christian faith: orthodoxy (right doctrine), orthopraxy (right practice), and ortholatry (right worship). The truth in this context is not philosophical or anthropocentric but Christocentric, with Scripture as its ultimate standard. God is both the foundation and the ultimate goal of all Christian reality. As the Creator, He sovereignly rules over all of life. He alone is worthy of worship and glorification. Scripture explicitly describes worshiping God as being conducted "in spirit and truth." Since God is Spirit, worship must be a spiritual communion with Him. Moreover, God has revealed Himself through His Word, which is now inscripturated in the Bible and must be understood through a biblical-theological framework. Using a qualitative research method with a literature study approach, this study seeks to explore the meaning of true worship in John 4:23 to obtain theologically sound and accountable findings. The author argues that the biblical concept of true worship in John 4:23 provides a theological foundation for the congregation to grow in knowing God through a life of genuine spiritual devotion. This study provides a fresh perspective, highlighting that the practice of authentic worship holds a vital role in the knowledge of God.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of sin as debt in the Lord’s Prayer through a lexical study of the Greek term opheilēma and an exploration of its conceptual roots in the Hebrew tradition. The study challenges the common assumption that sin is resolved simply by ceasing sinful behavior. Using a qualitative approach that integrates philological analysis, historical exegesis, and a review of recent scholarship, the research demonstrates that opheilēma in Matthew 6:12 refers to an unresolved moral and relational obligation rather than an abstract moral failure. This finding aligns with the Old Testament understanding of sin as a burden of responsibility that requires relational restoration. Consequently, forgiveness emerges not as a mere emotional response but as an act that resolves obligation and restores relationship. The study highlights the conceptual continuity between the Old and New Testaments and offers a theological correction to reductionist views of sin in contemporary Christian discourse.ABstrakArtikel ini bertujuan untuk  mengkaji konsep dosa sebagai hutang dalam Doa Bapa Kami melalui studi leksikal atas istilah Yunani opheilēma.

Abstract

Human life in the present age is inseparably bound to the power of sin that permeates thoughts and actions, including those of believers. Christians are not immune to sin, whether influenced by external factors such as cultural and social environments or by internal inclinations within themselves. Colossians 3:10 presents the concept of “putting on the new self” as both a theological and practical guideline for the life of faith. The Epistle to the Colossians was written by the Apostle Paul to address doctrinal and ethical challenges within the congregation, aiming to reaffirm their new identity in Christ. This study seeks to elaborate four key principles of the new self in Colossians 3:10 and to explore their relevance for contemporary Christian life. Employing a descriptive-theological approach, this research demonstrates that the transformation of believers’ lives is characterized by the renewal of the mind, the establishment of a new identity, conformity to the image of the Creator, and ethical application in daily living. The findings contribute to a deeper theological understanding of Christian spirituality and provide practical implications for nurturing faith amid today’s moral and cultural challenges. Abstract

This paper is motivated by the dynamics of religious pluralism that challenge the traditional understanding of Christ's uniqueness as Savior of the world, especially amidst the growing relativism of truth and interfaith dialogue. In this context, in-depth and argumentative theological reflection is essential for the Christian faith to remain relevant and accountable. This study aims to comprehensively examine the uniqueness of Jesus Christ from the perspective of Christology and Soteriology, and to examine how an apologetic approach can be used to explain and defend this doctrine rationally and contextually. The research method used is qualitative with a literature study approach and descriptive-analytical analysis, through the study of various theological sources, both the Bible and classical and contemporary academic literature. The results show that Christ's uniqueness lies in His identity as God incarnate as a human being and His final and universal work of salvation for humanity. From an apologetic perspective, this uniqueness can be explained through historical arguments regarding Christ's life and resurrection, as well as philosophical-theological reflections that affirm the consistency of the Christian doctrine of salvation. Furthermore, this approach allows for open dialogue without losing the integrity of faith. The research conclusion confirms that the uniqueness of Christ as the Savior of the world is the center of Christian faith which has a strong theological and rational basis, and remains relevant to be communicated contextually in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This paper is designed to explore the relevance of covenant theology in the preaching of the gospel and its implications for the spiritual formation of the church. Covenant theology is a theology derived from the Bible. Covenant theology frames God's interaction with humans through the lens of covenant. The gospel affirms God's saving power. The proclamation of the gospel has vital urgency in the church. The intersection of covenant theology and the gospel is in the person of Jesus Christ and His perfect work of redemption. By understanding covenant theology in the preaching of the gospel, the congregation will understand the richness of God's promises centered on Jesus Christ. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, the author tries to pay attention to the relevance of covenant theology in the preaching of the gospel in the spiritual life of the congregation. The author asserts that the preaching of the gospel is very relevant to covenant theology because the meeting point of both is in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The relevance of covenant theology in the preaching of the gospel will have a positive and constructive impact on the spiritual development of the congregation. This paper offers a new perspective on the preaching of the gospel from the perspective of covenant theology to foster the spiritual life of the congregation.
