Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using the Let’s Read media on reading comprehension skills among fourth-grade students in the Indonesian Language subject at SDN 101777 Saentis for the 2025/2026 academic year. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design method, specifically a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study consists of all fourth-grade students divided into two classes, namely class IV-A as the experimental class and class IV-B as the control class, each with 16 students, resulting in a total sample of 32 students. The research instrument used was a test in the form of essay questions consisting of 10 questions for the pre-test and 10 questions for the post-test. The results of the data analysis showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 85, higher than the control class at 68.75. Based on the t-test results, the calculated tvalue was 5.439 and the  ttable Value was 2.042 at a significance level (Sig.) of 0.05, thus H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the Let’s Read media has a significant effect on the reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade students in the Indonesian language subject, narrative text material, at SDN 101777 Saentis for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low IPAS (Science and Social Science) learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 064973 Medan Tembung, particularly in the water cycle topic, where only 11 out of 29 students (37.93%) met the minimum learning achievement criteria (KKTP ≥ 75) with an average score of 58.79. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by audiovisual media on students' IPAS learning outcomes. This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving all 29 fifth-grade students as the total sample. The instrument consisted of 20 multiple-choice items that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that the average cognitive score increased from 47.93 on the pretest to 76.38 on the posttest, an improvement of 28.45 points. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). In conclusion, the implementation of the PBL model assisted by audiovisual media significantly improved students' IPAS learning outcomes on the water cycle topic.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy for developing the Learning Objective Flow (ATP) based on Learning Outcomes (CP) in fourth-grade microteaching activities at SD Negeri 060879. The study was conducted due to students’ difficulties in transforming general CP into specific, measurable learning objectives aligned with elementary school students’ characteristics. A qualitative descriptive method was used, involving a fourth-grade teacher as the informant. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings show that the main difficulties lie in analyzing CP into ATP, selecting operational verbs, and aligning objectives with learning activities and assessments. The implementation of a systematic CP analysis strategy makes ATP development clearer, more structured, and more appropriate to students’ developmental levels. This strategy also helps students design more effective and varied learning activities. In conclusion, CP-based ATP development can improve the quality of teaching modules and support successful microteaching implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy of implementing differentiated learning to create active students and avoid teacher-centered learning patterns in the microteaching activities of Grade 5 students at SD Swasta Kasih Bapa Percut. The background of this research is the dominance of teacher-centered patterns in the learning process, which results in low active participation of students and suboptimal development of individual learners’ potential. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods. The research subjects were student teachers conducting microteaching and Grade 5 students at SD Swasta Kasih Bapa Percut. The results indicate that the implementation of differentiated learning through three main aspects content differentiation, process differentiation, and product differentiation significantly shifts the learning pattern from teacher-centered to student-centered. Applied strategies include: the use of various learning resources according to students’ learning styles, providing task choices based on learning readiness, interest, and learning profiles, as well as diverse authentic assessments. The resulting impacts include increased student activeness, learning motivation, and critical thinking skills. This study recommends that differentiated learning be established as the primary approach in microteaching practice as a provision for prospective teachers who are responsive to the diversity of learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of e-comic media in microteaching practices to optimize learning among elementary school students. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The resulting product is an interactive digital e-comic learning medium integrated with the local culture of North Sumatra and accessible via a flipbook platform. The results indicate that the e-comic medium has a very high level of feasibility. The use of e-comics is able to increase learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and student engagement through engaging visual and narrative presentations. Additionally, this medium also helps prospective teacher students in developing creativity, digital literacy, and innovative teaching skills in microteaching activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine how Canva interactive media based on local wisdom is used in Indonesian language teaching in elementary schools and how it helps teachers become more proficient educators. This study used a descriptive design and qualitative methodology. Purposively selected elementary school teachers and students served as research subjects. Semi-structured interviews, documentation, and observation were used as data collection methods. To ensure data validity, triangulation techniques were applied during the data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion preparation stages. The findings indicate that incorporating local wisdom components into Canva interactive media can result in more engaging, dynamic, and contextual learning. This media improves teaching skills, particularly in the areas of pedagogical innovation, classroom management, and variety of learning approaches, by helping educators present content visually and methodically. Furthermore, because it relates to their cultural experiences, the incorporation of local wisdom increases student engagement and makes the subject matter more understandable. According to the study findings, Canva interactive media, based on local knowledge, is a successful educational innovation and helps Indonesian language teaching in elementary schools transition to meaningful, student-centered 21st-century learning.

Abstract

The present investigation is directed at examining how teachers’ fundamental instructional skills are enacted within the learning activities of elementary schools in Medan City. These foundational teaching competencies constitute a critical element of pedagogical expertise, as they underpin the development of learning environments that are effective, engaging, and meaningful for students. A qualitative methodology was adopted, with the study structured as a case study. The participants comprised four elementary school teachers who were deliberately selected through purposive sampling, taking into account their teaching experience. Data collection was conducted by means of semi-structured interviews complemented by document analysis. Subsequently, the gathered data were processed using a descriptive qualitative analytical framework. The findings demonstrate that educators have applied a range of essential teaching skills, encompassing questioning techniques, reinforcement strategies, variation in instructional methods and media, explanatory abilities, lesson initiation, and classroom management. In practice, teachers utilized open-ended questioning to stimulate student engagement, delivered reinforcement in the form of praise and motivational support, and incorporated instructional media—such as digital television, visual images, and educational videos—to facilitate students’ comprehension. Moreover, the study identifies notable distinctions in instructional approaches between teachers in public elementary schools and those in private Islamic elementary institutions, particularly in the application of teaching skills. In general, the effective use of these fundamental teaching competencies fosters more dynamic classroom interaction and enhances students’ motivation to learn. Accordingly, the study underscores the importance of sustained professional development in pedagogical skills as a means to elevate the overall quality of elementary education.   Keywords: Basic Teaching Skills, Pedagogical Competence, Elementary School Learning, Teaching  Strategies, Student Learning Motivation   ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji penerapan keterampilan dasar mengajar guru dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar di Kota Medan. Keterampilan tersebut merupakan bagian esensial dari kompetensi pedagogik yang berperan dalam mewujudkan pembelajaran yang efektif, interaktif, dan bermakna. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan empat guru yang dipilih secara purposive berdasarkan pengalaman mengajar. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru telah mengimplementasikan berbagai keterampilan dasar mengajar, seperti bertanya, memberikan penguatan, menggunakan variasi metode dan media, menjelaskan materi, membuka pembelajaran, serta mengelola kelas. Pertanyaan terbuka digunakan untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa, sementara penguatan diberikan melalui pujian dan motivasi. Pemanfaatan media seperti televisi digital, gambar, dan video juga mendukung pemahaman siswa. Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan pendekatan antara guru sekolah negeri dan swasta. Secara umum, penerapan keterampilan tersebut mampu meningkatkan keaktifan dan motivasi belajar siswa, sehingga pengembangan kompetensi pedagogik guru secara berkelanjutan menjadi sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the self-efficacy of prospective elementary school teachers through microteaching activities. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 40 students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD), class of 2023, as research participants. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques in the form of percentages. The findings revealed that microteaching activities contributed positively to the improvement of students' self-efficacy. This was indicated by students' confidence in developing lesson plans (62.5%), speaking in front of the class (67.5%), utilizing learning media (67.5%), and conducting learning evaluations (72.5%). In addition, repeated teaching practice and constructive feedback from lecturers and peers helped students enhance their confidence and teaching readiness. These findings indicate that microteaching serves as an effective learning strategy for strengthening the self-efficacy of prospective elementary school teachers and preparing them for real classroom teaching situations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji secara mendalam pelaksanaan keterampilan variasi mengajar berbasis metode cooperative learning dalam kegiatan praktik microteaching mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD) Universitas Negeri Medan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif, tujuh mahasiswa semester enam yang telah menyelesaikan praktik microteaching dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling sebagai subjek penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa formulir refleksi diri yang disebarkan melalui Google Form pada tanggal 1 April 2026. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: (1) tingkat efektivitas variasi mengajar mahasiswa secara keseluruhan berada pada rentang kategori sedang hingga tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata 4,86 dari skala 10, dimana 57,14% mahasiswa memperoleh skor pada kategori efektif dan sangat efektif ; (2) penerapan aspek-aspek cooperative learning yang mencakup kejelasan pembagian kelompok, pemberian tugas diskusi, pengawasan kelompok, serta penilaian individu dan kelompok, secara umum dinilai Baik oleh seluruh responden; (3) tingkat keaktifan siswa yang dihasilkan dari penerapan metode ini memperoleh rata-rata skor 3,43 dari skala 5 sehingga masuk dalam aktegori aktif dengan 42,86% siswa menunjukkan respons sangat antusias; serta (4) pengelolaan waktu pembelajaran dan penguasaan kelas menjadi hambatan dominan yang dialami mahasiswa, masing-masing dilaporkan oleh 71,4% dan 57,1% responden. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa cooperative learning terbukti efektif dalam mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa selama kegiatan microteaching, namun mahasiswa masih memerlukan pembinaan lanjutan dalam aspek manajemen kelas, penggunaan media pembelajaran yang inovatif, serta pendalaman penguasaan materi ajar. Abstract

Pengelolaan kelas yang kondusif merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang efektif dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pengelolaan kelas yang diterapkan guru, kendala yang dihadapi, serta pengaruhnya terhadap motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap guru kelas dan didukung oleh studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menerapkan berbagai strategi, seperti menetapkan aturan kelas yang jelas, menggunakan pembelajaran interaktif, memberikan penguatan positif, serta membangun hubungan yang baik dengan siswa. Kendala yang dihadapi meliputi perbedaan karakteristik siswa, perilaku mengganggu, dan keterbatasan sarana pembelajaran. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan kelas yang efektif mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang nyaman, meningkatkan partisipasi siswa, dan menumbuhkan motivasi belajar. Dengan demikian, kompetensi guru dalam pengelolaan kelas perlu terus dikembangkan untuk mendukung keberhasilan pembelajaran.
