Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dominant learning methods and media used by teachers in implementing social studies learning in the classroom. In this research the author used a quantitative descriptive research method with survey techniques conducted on 27 social studies teachers in Sumbawa district. Each of the 9 social studies teachers in eastern, central and western Sumbawa was given an open questionnaire. Analysis of questionnaire data was carried out using descriptive analysis, namely using the percentage formula. The results of the analysis show that the majority of teachers still seem monotonous in using learning methods and media. This means that teachers are not optimal in selecting and applying various methods and media in social studies learning at school. This is shown by the results that 100% of teachers predominantly use the discussion method and 62.96% of teachers predominantly use map media in learning.

Abstract

Era globalisasi menciptakan suasana yang mendorong koeksistensi damai antarbudaya dan agama sangatlah penting. Dengan menampilkan keragaman siswa dan budaya di dalam kelas, kajian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan toleransi. Metodologi penelitian ini didasarkan pada lima tahap Model Desain Pembelajaran Isman: masukan, proses, keluaran, umpan balik, dan pembelajaran. Siswa dan pendidik di kelas VIII SMPN 4 Labuhan Badas adalah subjek penelitian ini. Tingkat keragaman etnis di antara siswa dipertimbangkan ketika memilih lokasi penelitian. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sikap toleransi siswa semakin berkembang, terbukti dengan berkembangnya rasa hormat terhadapkeragaman budaya dan agama teman yang lain, perilaku non-diskriminatif dan saling menghormati antar siswa, partisipasi aktif dan interaksi positif antar siswa dalam kelompok yang beragam, keterlibatan dalam tugas, kemauan untuk bergaul dengan teman dalam kelompok, kemampuan untuk berbagi informasi, dan kemauan untuk saling membantu dalam menyelesaikan tugas. Oleh karena itu, mengintegrasikan pertunjukan budaya ke dalam kurikulum IPS dapat mengembangkan pandangan siswa terhadap toleransi di dalam kelas.
