Abstract

The plastic manufacturing industry operating under a make-to-order system demands a high level of efficiency and effectiveness in the operation of production equipment to meet demand targets. Production processes that utilize injection molding machines with high utilization rates and a two-shift work system have the potential to generate various problems that can negatively affect production performance. Therefore, measuring machine effectiveness is necessary to identify factors contributing to performance deterioration. This study aims to measure the level of machine effectiveness using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and to identify the dominant problems through Pareto diagram analysis. The research employs a quantitative approach, with data collection consisting of operating time, downtime, and production output. The results indicate that the OEE value is 69%, which is still below the industry standard of 80%. The primary issue influencing the low OEE value is the high frequency of idling and minor stoppages, which leads to significant losses in production time. Consequently, focused improvement efforts are required to enhance machine effectiveness and achieve sustainable improvements in production performance.

Abstract

Tangerang with high population growth coupled with rapid development often changes the natural configuration of the land to the detriment of the existence of Green Open Space (RTH). The existing Tangerang Regency open green space is only 8% or 80.14 km2. Nagrek village, Sampora village, Tangerang was chosen because the area is a dense settlement that lacks green space and has a group of non-productive housewives. Policies that can be carried out to restore environmental conditions and overcome green space issues in Nagrek Village are by implementing an urban farming program with a conventional farming system and a hydroponic axis system by involving non-productive housewives. The method of implementing urban farming training is carried out with 5 stages, namely the stages of preparation, outreach, training, mentoring and evaluation. The recruitment phase of the activity implementation team and the measurement of the results of community service are recorded in the Artemis digital platform. The results of the urban farming training activities in the Nagrek Village Sampora Village Tangerang received a response that Nagrek Village looks more beautiful than before. Many non-participant residents began to be interested in participating in implementing the urban farming program in their own homes.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of the Sampora Village community, Tangerang, in developing sustainable urban farming through the implementation of hydroponic systems. The program addresses the need for alternative agricultural practices in urban areas to support food security and environmental sustainability. The methods employed included educational counseling on sustainable agriculture, hands-on training in basic hydroponic techniques, technical guidance on advanced hydroponic piping systems, and interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions to strengthen participants’ understanding. Community members were actively involved as participants, while practical learning tools such as hydroponic installation equipment and nutrient management systems were utilized throughout the program. Data were analyzed using a descriptive approach, combining quantitative analysis of pre-test and post-test results. The findings indicate significant improvements in participants’ competencies, including increased understanding of hydroponic systems from 20% to 85%, installation skills from 15% to 80%, nutrient management knowledge from 10% to 78%, and maintenance skills from 12% to 82%. In addition, participants developed awareness of potential business opportunities, such as selling fresh produce to local markets. In conclusion, the implementation of hydroponic-based urban farming had a positive impact on community empowerment, environmental awareness, and local economic development, thereby contributing to the creation of sustainable and resilient urban communities.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance participants' knowledge and promote more energy-efficient electricity consumption practices among members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group through training on the use of a web-based electricity consumption simulation application. The program was implemented through educational sessions, hands-on training, simulation exercises, and mentoring involving 35 PKK members in Sampora Village, Tangerang Regency. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments, direct observations, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with the mean score increasing from 56.8 before the training to 85.2 after the training, representing an increase of 28.4%. In addition, 91% of participants reported that the application was easy to use, 94% considered the training materials clear and easy to understand, and 89% expressed their willingness to adopt energy-saving practices in their daily household activities. Overall, the program successfully improved participants' energy literacy and basic digital competencies while equipping them with practical skills to estimate household electricity consumption, enabling them to make more informed decisions to reduce energy use and lower monthly electricity costs.

Abstract

Packaging quality is an important factor in ensuring product quality and safety, particularly for can packaging that is widely used in food and beverage industry. During the production process, defects such as dents, scratches, and label damage may occur on both the inner and outer surfaces of cans, potentially posing health risks to consumers. Therefore, an automated inspection system capable of performing comprehensive, accurate, and rapid inspection is required. This study proposes a can packaging defect inspection system based on the single-stage object detection algorithm YOLOv8n with a multi-view frame fusion approach in a manufacturing system. The multi-view frame fusion approach utilized two cameras positioned in opposite directions and sampling frames from video data to generate a multi-view visual representation without increasing system complexity. The dataset was constructed by merging multi-view images of normal and defective cans and was then used to train the YOLOv8n model. Experimental results show that the proposed system achieved a precision of 0.982, a recall of 0.909, a mean Average Precision at IoU 0.5 of 0.962, and an inference speed of up to 29 frame per second. The direct testing results demonstrate that the system could operate reliably with a low detection error rate. These results indicate that the proposed multi-view frame fusion approach combined with YOLOv8n is effective and feasible for implementation as an automated quality control system in manufacturing environments.
