Abstract

Base Sediment & Water (BS&W) is indicated high has to be as a corrosion factor in the pipeline. Corrosion is the damage or degradation of metals due to oxidation-reduction reactions between a metal and various substances in its environment which produce unnecessary compounds. Corrosion can be influenced by several factors, such as NaCl content, BS&W composition, dissolved gas content, pH, flow rate and temperature. The composition of BS&W can have an impact on the corrosion rate of the API 5L Gr B steel pipe.   Keywords : Pipeline, BS&W, Corrosion Rate

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of the renewable energies that can be obtained by converting triglycerides into methyl esters by transesterification process. Used cooking oil is heated with anhydrous methanol which is added with an acid catalyst or base catalyst. The catalyst has a role as a substance to reduce the activation energy of fatty acids in used cooking oil to increase the reaction rate. In this study, Sodium methoxidealkaline catalyst and NaOH-impregnated activated carbon base catalyst were used. Activated carbon catalyst using variation of concentration of activated carbon 1N, 2N, 3N, 4N, and 5N for 18 hours, 21 hours, and 24 hours and the use of sodium methoxidecatalyst with variation of oil: methanol ratio 1:3, 1:6, 1:9, 1:12, 1:15. The results showed that the biodiesel yield using carbon catalyst was 98.2%, 2% w/w catalyst with oil: methanol ratio 1:12 at 60℃ for 120 minutes. The best result of biodiesel using sodium methoxidecatalyst is 87.65%, catalyst 1.25% w/w with ratio 1:12, temperature 60℃ for 120 minutes. Abstract

Waste management in Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu is still facing problems. The size of the waste pile is not commensurate with the waste handling capacity. Plastic waste is a source of problems in landfills because it is quite large and difficult to decompose. Through research and innovation in waste management, we hope to create solutions that not only minimize negative impacts on the environment, but also create new opportunities for a sustainable economy. This research will be carried out at the Darul Khuldi Islamic Boarding School Foundation in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. This research was conducted to process waste at the Darul Khuldi Islamic Boarding School Foundation, namely domestic waste in the form of plastic waste and organic waste. Plastic waste produced during activities carried out at the Islamic Boarding School is processed into pelleting plastic pellets and making ecoenzymes to manage organic waste. The results obtained are expected to increase the independence of the Darul Khuldi Islamic Boarding School Foundation and reduce the impact of pollution on the surrounding environment
