Abstract

Feeding is the right time for parent and child to interact. Based on elicitation, it shows that there is lack of interaction between mother and child when feeding activity. This research is aimed to improve the quality of both interaction between mother and child, and deliver education that related to food and its’ function. One of the method which can be used to increase quality of interaction when feeding activity, is Mediated Learning Experience (MLE). Mediated Learning Experience is an active interaction when parent or substitute adult modify the stimulus to improve the child’s ability. MLE method given to mothers by training. This research is one group pre-test and post-test design research. Measurement in this study used Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test. The result on pre-test -- post-test 1 shows that p = 0,012 (p < 0,05) or can be said that there is a significant difference between the quality of parent and child interaction while feeding activity before and after being given MLE training. Then, post-test 1 -- post-test 2 shows p = 0,167 (p > 0,05) or can be said that there is no significant difference between the quality of parent and child interaction while feeding activity on post-test 1 and post-test2.

Abstract

Abstract

A resilient family is a family that is capable of survival, overcoming difficult challenges, and then grow stronger (Walsh, 2006). Cultural identity is one of the factors that play a role in forming family resilience, because in order to build the understanding and values of family resilience one needs to build it in accordance to local culture. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that build family resilience in Indonesian families, especially Batak Toba families. The measurement tool used in this study is Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire (WFRQ) to measure family resilience (α = .879), The Responses to Stress Questionnaire to measure coping (α = .755), and Family Strains Index to measure strain (α = .763). Another measurement tool is Batak Toba Adat Questionnaire (BAQ) and it is used to measure cultural identity (α = .677), community support, and socioeconomic status. The data is analyzed using Linear Structural Relation (LISREL) through Structural Equation Model (SEM) method. The subject of the study is individuals using Batak Toba surname (N = 295), consisting of 51.2% female and 48.4% male, with age range of 30-65 years old. The percentage of the subject that comes from a big family is 50.85%. The results of the study show that cultural identity, coping, family strain, community support, and socioeconomic status contribute together to build family resilience. The final model produced by this study shows that community support mediated cultural identity and socioeconomic status in building family resilience. Meanwhile, vairables family strain and coping directly affects the shaping of family resilience.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has both positive and negative impacts on individuals in affected areas. For mothers who have many roles at home, this impact can cause stress due to sudden changes in the family. Therefore, it is important to know whether mindful parenting, parenting self-efficacy, and marital satisfaction are important factors for family resilience. This study used a quantitative approach to examine the roles of those factors. Data obtained using Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire, Interpersonal Mindful Parenting, Self-Efficacy Parenting Task Index-Toddler Scale Short Form and ENRICH Marital Satisfaction (EMS) Scale were analyzed by multiple regression. Based on data from 116 mothers who have toddlers (Mage = 28.46, SD = 3.14), it is known that the associations of mindful parenting, parenting self-efficacy, and marital satisfaction predict 50% of family resilience positively. Furthermore, marital satisfaction provides the largest significant unique contribution, followed by a smaller contribution by parenting self-efficacy, while mindful parenting did not. This shows that internal and external factors by the mother both contribute to creating a resilient family during the Covid-19 Pandemic, thus, it is essentially important to ensure that mothers receive good support from their partners and are confident in providing positive care for their children.

Abstract

Dayak Ngaju tribe have a "huma betang" philosophy that reflects tolerance for diversity. Tolerance in this study is explained in the universal diverse orientation construct which is reflected in the huma betang philosophy of Dayak Ngaju tribe. This study aims to examine the relationship between mindfulness and UDO in generation Z and generation Y of Dayak Ngaju tribe in Palangka Raya City and examine the differences between these two variables in generation Z and generation Y using the Langer Mindfulness Scale-19 and the Miville-Guzman Universality Diversity Scale-Short Form. In addition, this study also tested the differences between the two variables in generation Z and generation Y using the Independent Sample T-test. Based on the Pearson-correlation of 129 participants, a significant positive relationship was found between mindfulness and UDO. However, no significant difference was found between mindfulness and UDO in generation Z and generation Y. Based on these results, this study is expected to enrich literature on mindfulness and UDO, while also becoming a reference material for further research who wants to examine similar things regarding Indonesian culture.
